I haven’t been interested in RE since the gamecube remaster and was really interested in VII but didnt get around to trying it, but I bought RE2 remake and I can’t put it down!
Same problem and I can't beat him and the knife does not work for me so I have some serious questions about that 'hardcore' diffeculty in this playthrough...If I try to knife I instantly get eaten by Birkin
Only works on PC due to higher framerate, the knife hits on larger hitboxes do more damage and thr knife hits multiple times on higher framerates, ergo literally double to triple the damage.
Did on a regular old PS4 with the knife. You have to wait about 5-6 footsteps from the door then slash like crazy when he's close. Have to test on Leon but Claire for sure can do it.
Hey thanks finally got S+ using this run as a guide. The knifes damage being tied to framerate made the first Birkin fight really frustrating on console, but I eventually did it.
Maximize your camera speed when not aiming, use control style C (R1/RB for running; L3 for ammo swapping), and get used to holding run and tapping O/B to quickly change directions and camera; when running it works in all 360 degrees. The aim part comes from pre-aiming by either looking slightly up or down. The biggest issues console runs into is actually the lack of increasing the FPS to deal bonus knife damage (most runners use 120fps), and the slower menuing/puzzles. The latter is actually slower on console since it seems to run at 30fps during those bits.
@@ouka6686 great idea...gna have to readjust my muscle memory. the L3 for running has always been so janky to me. always got me bit in really clutch scenarios when im trying to skirt past alot of things.
Totally agree, this was wicked. Carcinogen does a no hits run for Leon that's pretty interesting as to how to tackle certain encounters without taking damage
@@ryanbothwell1445 yea when i saw his recent upload i was like finally something to help me out for that S+..then i realized some strats are still scary as fuck lol. and its mainly for pc.
Leaving a like and comment as a form of thanks. Though i don't plan on speedrunning, I was able to unlock the le5 and minigun thanks to this video. Admittedly I deviated alot after getting to the cheifs office, but I don't think I would have been able to get there quite as fast otherwise.
LOL I ran out of bullets my first hardcore run on claire b, and I remembered seeing you use a knife. I looked up how you did it. I copy you and hit it three times, and it's still alive! Lol, so 4 hits later, it died and everything was all gooood. Thanks for the strat you saved my hardcore S run : )
Well I must say that run was ridiculous like WTF!! The final part with 3 hits with the knife. You gotta be kidding me. My best 1:11:23 today.I get grenade launcher right away. Kept improving my time then hop on and see this. I probably give up. You are the winner. This looks nearly unbeatable.
For those of us that are non speed running pros and just want to unlock first the sub machine gun and then, possibly the Gatling gun or Rocket launcher, can you please do a speed run for us? Guide? Something? The only thing I managed to unlock is infinite ammo Gun. Is it easier to get with Leon A? Claire A? Leon B or Claire B?
MaverickneoGamer yeah, this is insane. He knows all the tricks and got all the skills. I don’t think I have the time to try cuz it’d be so much time consuming to achieve it
best thing to do is just play it over and over again and familiarize yourself with everything. Leon A is probably the easiest of the two because of the weapons he has. Just know the areas you need to shut off or kill most zombies when you know you have to come back on an area. Other than that, repetition is always key. Like you at first I had doubts, but seeing that sub 2:30 run being pulled off is a great feeling.
MaverickneoGamer i literally just watch these and pause as i go and always end up with an extra hour on there or so, but they show you the best and fastest ways and routes, just follow them. Rinse and repeat bosses and those trusty 3 saves until you get through , practice on standard and unlock unlimited samurai edge and you’ll get a feel for what you need to do and some good practice with auto aim off, standard is truly still difficult at times and I just used it to practice for hard-core and then I got into the sewers for first save, that helps a lot
+Ben Connor hey thanks for the commment. Mind if I ask what “trusty 3 saves mean”? I just beat Leon A for the first time last night and am doing a Claire 2nd run (B?) now and I want to unlock the cool guns and shit like I did back in Re5
this will probably sound dumb....but i think it would be neat to see completionist speed runs....like get everything and kill everything (within reason, killing all the Ivy might not be an option)
HEY THANKS BAWK YOUR VIDEO CAME IN HANDY FOR THE LIQUID GAUGE THING I PAUSE MY GAME USE and WATCHed U THEN APPLIED TO MINE AND IT GOT ME MY S+ SO THANK U
He knows where they're at, but at that moment in the run, you can hear Mr. X right behind him. Had he ran into that corner to get the bullets, he'd have been grabbed. Not to mention the only reason he would've needed to grab those bullets was due to the bad RNG of zombie placement causing him to have to use bullets to stagger more zombies than one would need to in a perfect run.
@@PositiveOnly00 the first time you get to the chiefs office 2- after or before chess puzzle before Birkin 2 3- just before you get Sherry's vaccine / in the nest when you walk down the corridor with the red bulbs on either side the is a save room to the right. This is just before the triple Birkin showdown. Using the knife on him works, this is not a cheat, Capcom left it in on purpose. You can use the infinite knife and still get S+ (AND MINIGUN)
@@mezzuna i had no flashbang to stun him so i dodged his hit then through a grenade at zombies blocking me then he grabbed me and 1 hit kiiled me. i thought he was gonna throw me or hit like he alway does thats why i had aid sprays with me and herbs.
@@PositiveOnly00 I had assumed that you were playing the scenario that is relevant to this video. Leon's campaign is going to require different tactics
Great run, dude! The B scenario seems more stressful than the A scenario for some reason. Question though when did you get the launcher? I didn't see you get it from the weapons locker in the station. I was watching the whole time, but didn't see you get it.
You don’t need it until you get to the lab so when we speedrun we generally don’t get the shotgun or grenade launcher. You can but you lose like 2 minutes.
That first encounter with Mr.X in the STARS hallway, everytime I dodge his hook, I IMMEDIATELY try to run past him, but he always fucking grabs me. It's getting frustrating because these streamers do it with 100% success, but I do the exact same thing and he always grabs me while hes still recovering from the missed hook.
it seems that you need to run from the side with which hand he was punching, so if he punches with his right hand you need to run around him to the left otherwise he will grab you with his free hand which he holds to the back during the punch.
Well I mean yeah I've done EVERYTHING and he still grabs me. If you look at Distortion2 he literally touches Mr.X after a miss and he never gets grabbed. I always get grabbed no matter how he punches, no matter what side I run to. That's what the issue is.
Defeat Stage 2 G using the crane only once (Hardcore). bringing G to his knees 5 times should be sufficient damage to make him fall in the first Crane use
I don't know the game very well but I do know that you can pretty easily bait zombies to try a grab and then just back step real quick then run past during their animation. They seem to have a cooldown before they will grab again. Why isn't Bawk doing that and instead using ammo when he doesn't need to? Didn't need to shoot that guy in the lab with the grenade launcher and there were several other instances he decided to shoot when he didn't need to. Is it just for the sake of speed?
Is it just me, or does the room where you find the quickdraw feel the safest? Lol. Probably because it's not INSIDE of the station. But again maybe it's just me.
G2 doesn't have to be "down" for the crane to kill him. I've beaten G2 using just 2 flash grenades before. Its easier if you down him with weapons first but it not required.
Gutted u can't do this on console. Don't care what any one says I followed this too a T too the first boss and the knife goes half as fast and he just swings and gets you
Yep. To answer further, the reason why the knife only works on PC is because if framerate. The way the knife works, the higher your framerate, essentially the more hits register all at once, allowing you to practically do three times the damage with one swing.
It's not a knife "trick" though. Literally, it's frame rate. He's doing three times as much damage in a single swing than you do on console. That's why it takes multiple flashes.
@@Pixel-City nah, knife does a lot of damage on consoles as well. Might not work as fast but it works. Just gotta know when to hit and keep hitting with infinite knife ^^
I loved this remake but you get/got grabbed so much easier than any re game, they have defense items yes but I'd have preferred a Dodge function and slightly wider corridors instead, I hope they do re3 next
That's part of the charm bro, narrow hallways add to the claustrophobia and dread, it's very well executed I think. Also Resi 3 is rumoured to be in production and DLC for 2 is out next week I believe
@@ryanbothwell1445 there's claustrophobia then there's tedium on the scales I'm sure this tipped over on some people's play through's in fact one of the main criticisms of this game from everyone I heard was a Dodge feature, yes the defence items are nice but I'd have swapped them for a button prompt to dodge instead. Like I said it was only a minor thing and even on my second playthrough it got like every other RE game surplus ammo, 6 or 7 mixed herbs left over by the end lol
@@Rogers1000 There was no dodge in the original, old fans, including myself would kicked up a fuss about adding QTE's to Resi 2, they are a massive culprit in why the franchise began to die. As they increased button prompts in 4, 5 and 6 they caused a change from Survial Horror genre into shit Action games. The people requesting a dodge feature are just shit at the game, simple.
@@ryanbothwell1445 a Dodge feature is not a qte it's a button press like in batman Arkham series or any other game with a Dodge feature. And back in og RE2 you didn't need a Dodge because things were slower and easier to dodge. I'm 37 I had all re games day 1 release don't talk to me about being a fan lol
@@Rogers1000 As have I, and don't presume seniority as meaning you're more right, the fact is limited defensive items are still part of the inventory management system which is a core element of survival horror and classic Resi as a whole. The ability to dodge an attack when prompted is not limited and honestly would require no skill if you could just do it every time, for all intents and purposes it's just a mini QTE. Stupid button prompts like this are what nearly killed the genre. Capcom stayed true to the roots and the game sold over 3 million units in a week, I think the games just fine as is based on that.
I cant beat the 4th boss I dont have anything to kill him I fill him up with ammo and he still doesnt die I blow him up with grenades he still doesnt die when he picks up a container I flash bang him and doesn't do shit to him like wtf
