I have managed to kill Birkin with the knife on PS4 (standard difficulty) relatively smoothly but I'm wondering if it is worth it as far as time goes? I saved the video clip as proof. He does bonk me on the noggin' once though. Anyways, great run Bawk. Lookin' forward to more.
This is the kind of speedrun i love to watch. No glitches, no game-breaking exploitations, just true mastery of the game and it's mechanics in order to execute a single, perfect run.
@@kennedyrafaelalmeidadeoliv2377 You can do the same with the flamethrower later on as Leon which is actually faster, and the knife still works for G1 albeit not as well. It's not nearly as big of a deal as people make it out to be.

I hate when these speed runners make this look so easy, but when you try and follow there guide you in up dying 50 times. Try to run past the same zombies just like them, but ALWAYS in up getting grab or bit. SMH..
He's playing pc at probably 120 fps. It helps with certain attacks like the knife and dodges. If you are on console you may not be able to pull off the same dodges.
@@Systamatik1 yes everything looks pretty easy when playing on PC. I played on xbox and I knife G with the same number of hits as he did but G wouldn't be defeated. This can never be done on console.

My first claire runs on normal was 8 hrs and I got a B. I died within 15 mins of Leons B hardcore and restarted. Bawk just runnin thru this bih like a child runs through a park lmao. Def learned a lot watching bawk play.
my first run was 12 hours with 39 saves. my second time ever beating the game was 3 and a half hours. i was trying to go for s+ but i hit 2 and a half hours right after g3 but i finished it in 3 and a half hours with 7 saves. thos is my third attempt at a speed run and im at cheif irons place with 25 min. all runs were on hardcore and i play on ps4
Cut him some slack bros, Its easy to misread, especially if you dont have an hour to watch the video to find exactly where he sais it LOL! Maybe put a timestamp next time ;)
The very second of 56:58 when he actually accomplishes the run I appluaded him even if I was alone in the room watching this video on RU-vid. Incredible.

Hey Mr Soup, watching these runs really make my day since I can rarely watch you live because of my work schedule. Thanks a lot for the uploads, I truly enjoy 'em.
Clair has easier bosses and better weapons than leon. She has Glauncher, magnum shots from the revolver, the sparkshot does tons of dmg, sherry section is shorter than Ada, the parking garage is much shorter than leon. Overall her scenario is way easier even if Scenario A is a bit longer than Scenario B. The final Tyrant fight for leon you must survive like minimum of 2 minutes but claire can kill final Berkin quicker than that.
@@viii8993 Its relevant because he clearly shows that he has been playing with Clair a lot more than Leon for his speedruns and I listed the advantages of using her instead of Leon.
I enjoyed watching this. I hadn't really considered RE2 speedrunning, but I really enjoy playing the game so I had a fun time watching also. Going to give it a few shots.

sub 1 hour runs always impress me. Fastest I have ever done is 1 hour 15 minutes. Simply do not have the dexterity nor endurance to try for a WR style run of 55 minutes or less x) Excellent work!
Watching DSP RE2R playthrough and then a regular Bawkbasoup run, it's like being in a sewer and then rising all the way up to the fresh air of Mount Everest.

I have 2 questions. 1. What about the knifing is different on console? Just curious. 2. I realised the only hip pouch you grabbed in the beginning was the one in the safe. Wouldnt it save some time to grab the one after G stage 1 in the locker or the one in the storage room? rather than using the combo lock? Keep up the content. Thanks
Consoles don't yet operate at 120 FPS, while PCs can: because of the faster frame rate, the game registers more hits as the knife goes through an enemy (especially a big enemy with a big hitbox like Birkin), so the damage output is massively increased. At least, that's my understanding of it.
@@FALCOR1220 You still get multiple hits I think, just not as many: I was only playing on Normal, but I downed G1 with only being hit once and one-rounded G2 on my first attempt on PS4. It might not be as quick, but the knife is still OP on console.
@@leerobbo92 yeah I tried it and got like his leg and arm with one slash and hit him like 10 times before he reacted. Tossed a frag and kept going. Still took like 8 shotgun shells and some 45 ammo on leon B lol
this is such a great run!!! but i have a question, what binds do you have for the speedrun timer. for example the keybind for starting/spliting, undo split, reset etc---. Im trying to speedrun aswell and i dont know what binds i should use for resident evil 2 remake
I'm still trying to get S+ for Leon B, standard mode. Using the standard, I still get owned from the dogs/lickers. I'm having a hard time and stressing out. Then, work on the S+ hardcore modes. I'll probably get destroyed a million times before I can reach the end without taking 2-3 hit damage, game over. I mean, the "blue herbs" are useful for the boss fights gives you a defense buff, take less damage and removes poison effect. Birkin/Super Tyrant fight's are so random to me, is the difficult part. And lastly, start the: Ghost Survivors extra modes for the last 2 trophy achievement on PS4 console. Very useful video, thank you!
just finished it yesterday. it was my first time ever playing resident evil 2 and i started with claire. it took me 6 or 7 hours to beat it. it's crazy to see how fast you can fly through it.
I've been using this video as a walkthrough and oohhhh boy.. you sir are truly skilled. I nailed everything the way you did up until G1 William, I just couldn't pull off the knife and one nade kill. Now I'm stuck at the sewers at 54 minutes. With two saves 😂😂😪 Update: now I'm at the labs with 3 saves. Wish me luck man, G3 william is a paaaain
Interesting to see how the caution state increases her run speed. I also thought it was funny to see Claire's chase dialogue repeat itself on your way to jump into the sewers. Unless that was just my computer messin with me.
*Watches to the end* ._. Well... you are the man. Not expecting to break THIS record, buuuut I'll be happy getting an hour and thirty as opposed to the four and a half hours I got the first time... ^^;
Question, on the second to last boss fight, you shot out the eye and then began knifing, but why did you stop knifing momentarily pull out a stun grenade before continuing to knife? I noticed you pulled the stun out twice while you were knifing.
shooting you waste a lot of time. You only kill or shoot when you have to get by. He runs pretty fast with that turning corners trick he posted in the details of the video. Plus he plays this game like everyday nonstop since it was released so he got it on muscle memory.

Nevermind my last comment. For anybody confused, if you're running this game on a PC with high FPS then the knife does insane damage. Doesn't work the same for PS4 and Xbox unfortunately
Of course.....it's really easy on the pc, with knives working as a shotgun and monsters as soft as butter. In hardcore on ps4 with the knives you only do the caresses....
