In this reaction video series, I'm watching my way through the classic late 80s sitcom Just the Ten of Us. This is the 2nd episode of the 3rd season, Quarterback Sneak.
St. Augustine's team name is the Hippos. I have to 'confess' - that's a nice touch. And hey, the marching band sounds like a 300-member Big Ten monster band. Not bad for a small Catholic high school.
Sometime after Matt LeBlanc guest starred on JTTOU, he also guest starred a couple of times on "Married...With Children" & was in its short-lived spin-off "Top Of The Heap", with Joseph Bologna.
I like just before the "they shot daddy" line when Cindy starts cheering "Block that kick!" and when she is told the Hippos are kicking, she cheers "Never mind!"
I went to an all-girls Catholic school. We had a cheer called “Sanctify.” I can’t remember the exact words but it was religious. 😂 There was another one that we liked but the nuns wouldn’t let us do it, because it started with us laying on the floor, slowly sitting up while clapping (apparently that was too risqué). Good times.
I'm not sure if you mentioned it yet but do you remember the Maxie doll commercials from the 80s? If you find a version with a live action Maxie you will notice a certain Lubbock Babe.
At the end I liked how Wendy threw Graham under the bus. And why wasn’t Hooter shown more? They should have copied Married With Children when it came to Hooter. Like Buck we should have been able to hear what Hooter thought. I think that would have been funny.
They weren’t afraid to talk about actual things teenagers went through in high school especially with the relationships each girl had with the boys they dated.
@@sha11235 …..why do you always have to chime in on everyone’s comments? Pretty soon nobody will even want to comment. You can obviously see the band. I don’t care if you report this or not. A lot of your comments are contrary or contain misinformation
@@peteruffkey1575 and your maturity level if it was based from a score of 10,000 points.... I can’t believe men over the age of 16 still behave this way. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Fr. Bud is more of an airhead character. I noticed that too. He’s a pushover to Coach and Fr. Hargis. Dwayne enjoyed annoying Fr. Hargis. I don’t recall any Catholic related cheers in our school lol Lots of prayer before and after game time tho. Fr Bud eluding to “scoring and going all the way” at the annoyance of coach is hilarious. My family and I watched this show together and I remember blushing a few times lol.
Okay, Jeremy, I checked the Dream Girls episode again. Watch when Connie does the Sweeney Todd number. When she says, "They went to their maker impeccably shaved," she is standing by a customer and pretending to shave him. I think this is that heckler from this episode!!!!!!
Hmm, interesting the guy in the stands who had two lines wasn't credited. It was like the delivery boy in The Merry Mix Up. That might be one of the extras at Danny's, you are correct.
Probably not. By this time Dennis Haysbert was in a couple of movies. He had a pretty good role in Major League, which was released in April 1989. He also had a good role in the 1990 movie Navy Seals. So at that point in his career returning to a network sitcom in which his role would be secondary at best wouldn’t have been the best career move for him
@@sha11235 …..yes but that was years years later. Like I said at that point in his career he was going from tv to big screen. I wish he would have stayed the entire run of the show too but you have to look at it from his view for making the move. Any actor would
You're right, this was not a laugh out loud episode. Well, they can't all be. Next week has some really good stuff in it, from the title name, which is said in the episode, to Coach taking an alias at a moonlighting job. When we get to the other episode with Murphy, I have some things I'll comment about that.
Might as well mention a few things now before I continue watching the episode: 1. When that guy in the stands is yelling, "Get a new QB!" and "Get a new coach!" I've been thinking about that concerning the NY Jets over the past several seasons due to their poor playing. 2. Doosler has some funny moments, like when he causes the Lubbock Babes to fall on him. Wonder how they did that? 3. In the second episode with Murphy, Doosler is backup QB while here he's not.
