Sometimes she would surprise me with romantic little gifts, and it warmed my heart that she had thought of me and bought this for me... ...then she would tell me that she had bought it for herself, and it wasn't what she had expected. ...this wasn't a romantic gift she had bought because she had been thinking about me, this was the table scraps that she was tossing to the dog.

I would argue that women just do romantic gestures in general for the partners they love. I do romantic gestures for my partner. Even though he is of course very handsome to me, I would say that we both are around average looking.

Even though I agree you must have standards of what you accept and don't You can't neglect that "the behavior of the typical modern woman" is how they truly are, it's just that society actually approves and supports their nature and hypergamy with the laws and the social conditioning we experience since children. When in reality all we did was oppressed the parts of their nature who weren't useful for moving the world forward and develop a strong society It was necessary, as we don't do it anymore they're starting to be how they've been since the dawn of time (probably our ancestors new all these things and that's why they developed those rules and boundaries, they knew that if we let them without instructions they'd led to self destruction and the destruction of us too), but now without any boundary. Their evolution and our general psychology as humans DID make them the way they're, the same way it made us the way we are. The difference is that a man being a man is always bad, but women being women while at the same time wanting the positive things of being a man is phenomenal (and even encourage by the law nowadays) and whenever they commit a mistake we can't say anything and just accept it. At the end of the day women have only as much power as we as men give to them, but they've manipulated us to the point of giving up our boundaries for their "liberation", give them all our advantages to them while keeping their privileges of being women while at the same time creating the view in our minds of being "oppressed", so not only we've been willingly giving up to them all our power and boundaries but also they created the "oppressed" view which make us feel bad for being men and desiring to compensate for it, giving them even more power and trying to always make their lives even easier And that giant amount of power without any accountability for using it properly has made all the chaos we have today

We do nice things to partners and we ejoy romance - we like reading romantic books and watch sickly movies. I guess we assume we are romantic as a result of that, but in reality, a lot of us don't do many of the romantic things for a partner the same way men do to measure up. Not that we don't do anything romantic at all! That is not true but we don't run around validating our feelings towards the partner as much. Perhaps some woman would disagree with me here but that is how I feel about it now.
