the bloody bear made me seriously piss my pants laughing. just a genuine serial killer and the guy with lightning arms and legs is terrified of him. "aaaannnnd hes got a knife...super power" honestly its a really good serial killer outfit. bloody teddy bear with a butcher knife is way creepier than a demon clown with a balloon or a full on monster

It's great pacing because Brick Frog would not have been all that funny by himself. But putting him after and seeing his instantly get passed up was that last little HA to seal the scene before the took a beat in the story.

Fat chance would certainly be worth having on the team. Producing random objects could yield significant results, not all the time of course. If out of 100 tries he produces 1 gold bar and 99 insignificant objects he's still a tremendous net gain. I'd get an incinerator and some entertainment stuff for him and have that be his office. He produces objects and incinerates the crap, but keeps the useful stuff. He would likely be a significant economic asset if nothing else. Passing on fat chance would be a mistake.

It's that lovely part of this universe where crazy comic-book super-villainy is just a regular old day-job like being an accountant or something. The evil world-threatening masterminds are basically just normal people too, so a guy with a knife is just as scary for them as it would be for us. Venture Bros. is brilliant like that.

Besides, given the apparent motives of the writer(s), I doubt they'd knowingly take the powers of someone named _Fat_ _Chance_ and give them to their token obese character. It's just a delightful coincidence that makes an already hilarious failure even funnier.

Fun Fact: Mitt Romney's father was actually born in polygamous community in Mexico that was an offshoot from the Mormon Church. His father moved to America where Mitt was born, but Mitt Romney has cousins and other family members who are still polygamous and living down in Mexico.

Lady Hawk Johnson is based on a real person, not Lady Bird Johnson, as one would think, but upon Florence Foster Jenkins, a wannabe Opera singer in the 30s and 40s. That was one of her most famous costumes!

ScareBear was able to get past Dean (not hard by itself but there only seems to be one entrance) so maybe he has some horror villain teleport power, ie Jason Voorhees. Nonetheless a regular knife can pretty much kill an average human as long they're not wearing full body armor.

I never got it until now, I always though they were poking fun at Fat Chance cuz of the "botched scientific experiment trope" in the "oh sure you did" way. I now realise that Limb, Underbite, and Impossible all got their disfigurments/super powers the same way, and maybe that familiarity with Chance's situation was why he got on the team. That and cuz there is literally a better chance at him being useful than... people like BrickFrog.

"Aaand he's got a knife!" See they didn't have to step up the comedy because a seemingly deranged man in a bloody bear costume was hilarious enough. Yet they chose to put a cherry on top of this comical sundae with that knife reveal. That one little moment makes this scene go from "hilarious" to "I'm laughing so hard that I'm crying". 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don't think anyone brought this up but "Brick Frog" is a really obscure pun. Those little indentations on the top and bottom of a brick are called "brick frogs". Horse hooves also have an indentation called a frog.

Does anybody notice the ratlike villain over to the left? That's the same character they used for "mistmatched antagonists" from the Guild of Calamitous Intent sales video that Dr. Orpheus watched when forming his team. Now that's a real callback for the fans....

Actually, the Doom Factory is comprised of super self involved villains. The rest of the villains just showed up to the party and they left through the exit. They didn't actually left with the Doom Factory. There's too many to fit in it.

This scene reminds me of similar episode in the Mystery Men movie (also used in the famous All Star music video) there the main characters hold an audition and all sorts of weird heroes show up.
