I think the P-51 Mustang would be a greater analogy for the GM. A fighter from the allied forces that could finally rival if not surpass many Axis fighters like the Mitsubishi Zero and the BF 109, much like how the GM was superior to the Zaku II, and even in some cases, the Dom and Rick Dom.
I see a few regular RGM-79 GMs fighting alongside the Type Cs. It's honestly quite cool. Despite both being GMs, they're not actually directly from the same lineage. The Original GM was developed from the RX-78-2 and the GM Early Type, making the original GM a descendant of a Gundam. The Type C on the other hand is also developed from the Early Type, but the Early Type itself has no direct lineage from any of the V Project Gundams, making the Type C not directly designed from any Gundams, other than it shares the same learning computer as the RX-78-2. Lore wise, it shows how inconsistent the Federation was when designing their main mass production mobile suit. But they're both the main grunt suits of the Federation, despite having different design philosophies.
Not only are there a shit ton of gm’s everywhere, And they have a beam gun that can one shot any suit even the gelgoog. And they mostly have better performance than your zaku for the most part. Crazy how good gm’s were but have that grunt treatment.
@@Dr.pp4256i mean what's a good and advance MS going to do if the pilots can't match with yhe machine? We can assume that the times the GMs get killed were by Zeon Ace Pilots, Zeon Newtypes, lucky shots like that Zaku I in A Baou Qu but any other time they're kicking ass brcauze the zeon pilots literally are mostly trainees
@@solaireofastora5999 Even so in most settings it’s shown the original gm’s were nothing but fodder for the most part. And that there wasn’t a single good pilot for the fed grunts for a bit. The gm shown in igloo is how they really were for the most part.
@Dr.pp4256 again, it comes down to the situation. A normal GM pilot can't to do anything if they're up against Anavel Gato in a Rick Dom. A normal GM pilot can't do anything if they get ambushed by an unexpected MS that was hiding. A normal GM can't do anything if the Pilots are shit that they'd lose to a better pilot even if said pilot was in a Zaku II. The Battle of A Baou Qu was a multi-front battle with many different pilots and MS. The GMs we've seen in Igloo happened to be those on the S field and based on what we've seen with S field already breaking apart in a few minutes, the GM pilots are very experienced and downright terrifying that happen to be going against mostly trainees that got at most 2 weeks of training. I'm not saying the GM is terrible and I'm not going to deny that they are the red shirts of the Gundam Franchise but I will say that their deaths can be done right based on the situation/scene shown. If you showed 10 GMs dying to a Zaku I then I'll call bullshit on that but if said 10 GMs landed on A Baou Qu at different times and said Zaku I was constantly ambushing them over and over then I'd believe it a bit more.
