Check out the RIDGID 18-Volt Sub-Compact Brushless Combo Kit Drill/Driver & Impact Driver at The Home Depot: thd.co/2KuNndQ
The new RIDGID18-Volt Brushless Sub-Compact Cordless 3/8 in. Impact Wrench also looks awesome: thd.co/3bCGYJN
For RIDGID fans who want to have smaller tools and still remain in the 18-volt platform, the new RIDGID 18-Volt Sub-Compact Brushless tool will perfect. These new sub-compact tools have the same grip and feel as the larger RIDGID tools, but the upper portion of the tool is much smaller. This gives users the ability to choose a lightweight tool for smaller jobs.

I know people are angry about the reveal but I love the subcompacts. I drove to 3 home depot's to get them and built a deck with them the same day. They're great

Got my set this weekend. Threw the octane batteries on them and had no issues. I had the full size and these and just naturally started reaching for them. The size, weight and power were perfect for what I do.

very impressive, and never imagined ridgid will launch this ridgid subcompact, and interesting to be able to use all kinds of ridgid batteries and chargers, eager to have it 😃, I have an octane drill combo ridgid, but want to also have this subcompact 😄, thanks for the review friend, success for you and your channel 👍

You are right that the large drill is rarely needed. I have the Gen X4 1/2 Ridgid drill. It was my entry point into lithium ion cordless, gulp, maybe 8 years ago. It was combo with X4 combo. I was very impressed with Ridgid at the time. I also LOVED my Ridgid 12V Fuego drill. The present day 12V Ridgid drill is silly toy by comparison. The Ridgid Fuego drill was one of my favorite tools of all time. Present day, I have mostly Milwaukee M18 and M12 tools. However, I do not have a large M18 drill yet. My X4 Ridgid 1/2 drill is amazing on power, even for not being brushless. I'll use it for hole saws in drywall, or fast drilling/boring. 12V tools for around the house, are more than capable, and far less bulky. I'm tempted to get newer M12 FUEL drill, and M18 drill. Just cannot justify it, lol. Do it for Dale!

yoooo, No barber needed. All the episodes I watched and I never caught the hair. That's the way. Great review. I have multiple Dewalt, Makita, and Milwaukee sets. Milwaukee proves itself to be the hardiest. My larger Rigid combo set has been on the job for about a year. Whenever I reach for a driver for a hard use, I'll grab the Rigid just to give it a test. Always comes through so far. Outstanding and a very comfortable tool. They've been great and I'm comparing them to the whole lineup. With over a dozed drivers and drills, and almost a year of some hard use, all's good. Rigid is a mega comfortable tool to work. Time to get back out there.!! No barber needed here either. Thank You madman.

That’s a very cool set . Only thing Ridgid needs to change in my opinion, is the battery inset , just a bit too bulky . Remember it’s a sub compact . In my opinion you cannot have a sub compact with a huge bottom . Just my opinion. Other than that Ridgid nailed it. I really like my set 🙆🏻‍♂️😎.

Definitely an impressive set for the size. I'm looking forward to trying the stubby impact out. After a close look on the home depot website the 1/4" impact looks smaller in size but slightly longer than the stubby. The stubby is shorter looking but has more bulk and is rated at 200 ft lbs fastening and 225 breakaway torque which is above the conversion from 1800 in lbs so it shows more potential. Looking forward to your video on it. Would love to see it go against the M12 fuel and see how much difference there actually is. Nice hair BTW 😂

Nice review. Cons not octane tool. Battery pack uses the older obsolete cheaper lithium battery type (not newer lithium battery type in 3a octane pack). Tool with newer octane battery installed on them looks like a dumbbell attached . MSRP $199 combo price at HD now...wait till Xmas and the combo will probably be on sale for $150 or less ...and by then those that got the tools free in exchange for the glowing reviews will be able to update the reviews as to whether the tools actually last!

I appreciate the video and I know Rigid claims the impact has 1800 inch lbs but it doesn’t. I used the new impact and to be honest it felt kind of cheap to me. The base battery didn’t help. If you want tools this compact it seems best to stick with 12 volt. I feel like my Dewalt extreme 12 v drill and impact out does both of these tools. Yes I know M12 tends to be a little stronger but the fat grips suck. I know Rigid claims all metal gearing but I am almost certain it is powdered metal gears. Basically metal shavings pressed together to form shape. Not as strong as intact metal.

personally i think the price is a little high for the kit and think it should drop some. i can get the gen5x set around the holidays for the same price with more features. that what i use currently for HVAC and Electrical work. i do like that they trimmed the size and weight, especially for the impact.it would be great for my hvac set and possibly for elctrical too, but if i cant bore through 2x material in high with a 1" spade bit then its kinda a let down. maybe if the price drops to a price i like ill consider it.

I know the Milwaukee will never let me down but having 1 set of batteries less to take care would be nice. And LSA.

Ridgid would have been better off replacing their old 12v junker drills with a new slide pack model instead. Keep them affordable and simple so they don't compete with M12 but would be a nice option for someone looking for a slim, comfortable lightweight 12v that isn't a Makita or questionable Hercules model from Harbor Freight.

@@Jay-sg2ww Makita's definitely doing better in the 12V realm compared to Dewalt. All Dewalt did was add brushless drills, drivers, an impact wrench and a hackzall. All Makita needs is an updated Hackzall and they've got everything Dewalt has + a lot more. (still not as much as Bosch or Milwaukee, ofc) And how would 21700s work with Ridgid's existing 12V platform? The cells are too big to fit into the handle.
