Well Rolex have only officially entered the second-hand market. One wonders what they expect to achieve here but we think it can only drive up prices again and hand more power to the grey market. It seems to us that Rolex has lost control. If buying Rolex second hand appeals then all well and good but the grey market will make you pay.
(Note: At the time of recording we were unaware of the pricing which has just come to light. We will add an update shortly)

I know Rolex stated that they will CPO watches that are three years or older, but it remains to be seen how far back Rolex will accept watches to refurbish. I do respectively disagree with Mr. Bassington that Rolex watches hit bottom on November 13, 2022. Energy & food prices continue to rise and I think many watch collectors are going to have to pull back on buying luxury watches for at least the first half of 2023. Plus, there is a glut of Rolex watches for sale on the grey market, and grey market dealers have stopped buying Rolex unless they have a client who wants a particular model. This means Rolex prices will continue to fall. I also am tired of the Rolex AD & their own boutiques treatment so I discovered the other wonderful brands like Omega, H. Moser, and others. Obviously if you want a Rolex go buy one, just buy it to wear on your wrist, not to stick in a safety deposit box hoping to make a quick buck.

Thank you for your comments. I have recorded follow up VLOG which addresses some of the points raised by you, it is just finding the time to get it out! All the best.

As Rolex keeps trying to flex their muscle in the watch market, I took your advice from one of your videos and am lucky enough to just obtain the Vacheron Constatin Duel Time at retail. All the best and happy holidays.

I am going to buy all my "Heavy Hitters" from ADs cuz they are not tugging in the shadows or wearing the inventory to steak dinners while fake flexing!

Great point. It's amazing how far out of control the Rolex market has become.

The real beneficiaries of the CPO market are the large multi-store ADs (Bucherer and Watches of Switzerland) who have watch makers on their payrolls. That’s why the program is starting with Bucherer. The little ADs will not be part of it and their value will go down (making easier for Bucherer and WOS to keep buying them cheaper). The likely buyers of the CPO watches are the people that go to ADs frequently asking about the same watch. They’ll be the suckers overpaying for an over polished watch. Rolex has “jumped the shark” and this CPO program is one bit of proof this observation is on correct.

I do not buy anything other that List or Discounted, but cannot help that think the term ‘sucker/suckers’ is mainly used out of jealousy 😉
@bbrebozo6417
@bbrebozo6417 Год назад
It won’t hurt the grey dealers, help keep the market price of used Rolex up, or help ordinary consumers get a new Rolex model. The CPO will only accept one owner pieces that are 3 years old, so new models will be sold to preferred flipper, the ADs likely won’t buy the watches at a higher price than the grey dealers (if they do they it might drain the grey market).

Bucherer have been doing it for ages, and it’s already been seen that official RPO prices are very high. Rolex are wanting to elevate themselves to VC and PP and AP (and good luck to them quite frankly!). It’s odd you mention Snoopy and Ed White as if it’s an aside and that Omega are our friends! Fact is that Omega want to be Rolex, just as much as Rolex want to be VC/AP/PP!!
@Bassingtons
@Bassingtons Год назад
Rolex have no chance of becoming a VC/AP/PP!
@alfieakaronaldog
@alfieakaronaldog Год назад
@@Bassingtons I see no reason why not. All it takes is money, technical ability and desire. They seem to have all three. Their QC is way better than Omega in my experience so what other ambition should they have? They need to get off the high street and leave that to Tudor.

@@alfieakaronaldog No chance! It is esttimated Rolex manufacture 1,250,000 per annum! Incomaparison Patek apparently manufacturer 65,000, per annum, AP apparently 50,0000 per annum and Vacheron apparently manufacturer 20,000 per annum! ROLEX WILL NEVER BE IN THIS LEAGUE!

@@Bassingtons Fair enough, it’s not important to me if they do or not. I do not see why production numbers are relevant though. Why can 20,000 of their 1,250,000 watches (I do not think it’s actually that many) just not be VC level pieces?

They're salvaging dropping prices. Rolex isn't about watches. It's a game. No longer like them. Moved on to other real watches now.

It’s real simple. Anyone who has the money to have what they want right now. Life’s short! There is nothing wrong with paying over the Odds for, let’s say, a Tudor FXD MN21 ( you were very well placed to get one at list) and then it just goes from there. It’s not my thing either, but don’t let the green eyed devil get to you.
