Since you had to buy the rust with the van, I saw about 1800$ of it leap off of it on the floor removal...bag that stuff up as relic rust patina starter kit in one oz. packs and sell them for a dollar a pop.

Hello, Mike nice looking on the removal from the cargo floor I. did some similar work on my Vw T3 Single Cab for a few years ago. I am doing the total restoration on my VW T3. It's nice to see other methods to remove rusty bodywork parts. I wish you success with the restoration. Greetings HCS

harbor freight has the long stroke one I think works great. much easier to split the welds on many areas of your bus.

I notice the audio goes out of sync with the video at the 18 minute mark and then lines up at about 28 minutes. Does not matter though as I am able to follow as to what was being done there. Great work in demonstrating and explaining what you did and why you did it!

yea I noticed that too something happened on the editor or the upload but it does not effect what is going on.

This morning JW gave me a name of a shop in Pasadena , south of Houston that does lifter bore sleeves. That case I have just the bores got screwed up from the sand. The line bore is that when I used the #1 main on the #2 , the 3-4 side it picked up the case . on the 1-2 side it only lifted up 1 inch then let go. So it mite need a line bore too. It is about 160 miles to Pasadena from here.It would be cool if they could do it in 1 day then I could drive back? It has 8 mm head studs and I will get it opened up for 94s. the only part I will use off my new motor is the flywheel. because I have the tools to remove and put it back on and set endplay.Its gona take till summer to get it together 1 item per month.
@Mikefngarage
@Mikefngarage 4 года назад
may want to call them about that. Not a bad drive My guys were in corpus in the spring. 8mm head studs are good to me for Mag cases. just dont go too big. The studs tend to stretch more instead of pulling on the case. But on a high compression big engine they can be a bit small. Aluminum I like 10mm. Mag 8 if you have the savers for them if it already has 10mm savers I just run the 10s.

You are right about only replacing the metal that you need to replace. I made that mistake repairing the floors on a 74 Beetle way back in the day. I bought 2 floor pans and figured I had to replace the whole things. Way more work than I bargained for. I could have got away with cutting the sections I needed and avoided taking the seats out. That was long before the internet though, I wish I had access to your expertise back then. Great videos.
