Hey Joakim, I bought online, and haven't seen any stores. Best bet would be the Amer Brand store in Vallila, as that's the HQ, and they have a Salomon store there. You can message on Facebook asking, they usually are very responsive.
At the end of the day road running is about pace. If you are looking for a premium priced shoe that is slower and less confortable than the more well known brands why would you bother?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Mathieu, I would say it's quite different from other shoes out on the market, and Salomon clearly want a piece of that pie, or at least have a foot in it (oh dear, what a bad pun).
Nice review. Looks an interesting shoe but seems very expensive for what looks like essentially a "traditional" short distance racing flat. £165 in the UK it seems. How does the sizing compare in this to say Nike, ASICS, Saucony or adidas? I am mostly a UK 13 but I see this only goes up to a UK 12.5 (same problem with adidas - sore point) although their size chart suggests it would be long enough for my actual foot length. I note you mentioned the relatively low number of eyelets. As my feet are narrow and I usually pull in the laces on any shoe a lot that is not promising. As you mentioned, you never have that problem with adidas although do on length.
Hey Tim, yes quite pricey for sure. Well they run true to size within the Salomon brand. However I have 46 in Salomon and 46 2/3 in Hoka, Saucony and Adidas. So my size in all Salomon has always been 46, however I do remember trying on the Sense ride trails shoes, and no size was good for me. I hope this is of some help to your question :)
@@runningwithmarc Sounds a bit like ASICS whose sizing is a bit different. Looks like the UK 12.5 in these might work for me but they seem to have sold out and not sure am overly keen at that price anyway especially as bit dubious on the fit for me. Will look forward to more reports from you and indeed what Kilian Jornet manages in them in this 24 hour track race today.
I don't actually 100% know, but I did here once that the shoe will be more available come spring time, but I am not sure how true that statement was, and if it was worldwide. Although I have seen them on Salomon.com a few times 🤷
I kept focusing on the monitor. What was playing and did you go back because you missed so much while filming? I know you enjoyed these shoes, but you also said you’re not really a fan of Solomon running shoes. What made you buy such an expensive pair to test, knowing you’re not a fan?
Go back where? 🤔 On the screen it was Salomon runner Ricky gates documentary about his run across the United States. I got a really good deal on them, and thought it would be good content for RU-vid as I couldn't find any reviews from them. Plus the shoe looked really interesting for me to try.
@@runningwithmarc ahh, adding the Ricky Gates footage was a nice touch, even if it went over my head. I said go back but I meant rewind to the place you were before starting filming. I didn’t say rewind because rewinding isn’t a thing. 😂 Is the €180 the full price or what you paid? How much of a discount did you get and is it something others can get? I see they’re $165 (usd) over here.
I would say adios 4 is nicer for the track, this somehow felt flat on the track, and if the track is wet it wouldn't have the best grip on the corners I would think.
I do not advise the purchase, the material of the shoe wears out in its natural running folds, opening holes. For the value VS utility, at first you are even happy because it really is very light, but when you see that you paid 1.3k or more for a shoe that the material is opening holes in the folds, it is sad, practically you take the value in notes and put it fire on the edges, that is, it loses its usefulness!! I DO NOT advise the purchase!!
Would you say that this shoe is Salomons lightweight contender to the Saucony Kinvara, Hoka Rincon and NB Beacon? I wouldn't race a 10k in any of those shoes, so the phantasm must be special for Killian to go sub-30 in them.
Hey Danny, I haven't ran in the NB or Saucony shoes, but know what the purpose of the kinvara is. I think it's like the Hoka Tracer series if anything. It's not about the cushioning. It's meant for running faster. I can't see how someone would want to run for 24hrs in that shoe though, I think it lacks support. Although it's a fun shoe to run in.
@@runningwithmarc I'm trying to wrap my head around how he would run 24hrs in the phantasm too. I can't think of any Salomon road shoes intended for that purpose. Can you? It'd be kind of a sham if he didn't run it in the phantasm tho.
@@dannyj1983 clearly good marketing for the shoe if he does something big in it. They want to make a big statement with it. Just like when Hoka did that Carbon x and Jim Walmsley doing the 50mile wr.
If you're a size 10 in Salomon shoes, they run true to size within the brand. I have quite a narrow foot anyway, so unfortunately I can't fully comment on if I feel it is narrow. Hope it helps in someway Tony
Would you recommend for this for pavement walking? Not a runner, but a keen walker. Looking for an addition to my Adidas Winter Ready. Probably walk about 80km a week
I haven't done any walking only activities in it. But would I walk around in it, probably not, I'd be picking something else, is it comfortable when walking, yeah it is. I think that upper is quite thin, so maybe it could be quite cool on your feet, and get wet easily, depending on the climate you live in.
@@runningwithmarc I live in the UK, so would be looking at these for a walking shoe in the upcoming Spring/Summer on concrete. Not trails/mud/woods, just around the city I live in. The colour is appealing to me, so will be probably add these to the collection
That looks like copy of Adidas Takumi Sen 6? Anyway, all points of being track legal for senior athletes who will fall in parts after wearing spikes ☺️
I've never had that shoe, but I've only seen it online and would say it looks and probably feels a bit different. could be wrong. Yes track legal shoe is quite an impressive feature now-a-days :D
@@runningwithmarc yes Takumi is track legal as well 18/23mm 197g or something. I heard Anne-Mari Kiekara could not wear spikes at Finnish Nationals aka Kalevan Kisat not sure which shoe she used but Takumi Sen 6 had temporarily sold out right after -25mm stack rule change. I'm US13 or 48Euro and I will never wear Takumi but I guess this Salomon shoe has possibly my size option ☺️
For me, no I would not be using it as a daily trainer. I mean feels good, but I would not think it would be durable in the upper for lots of mileage, although it does feel good quality, I have only done 100km in them.
