I was a musician for 20 years of my life. I can say about 80% of women who tried to hook up with me were taken or married. Even friends gf's and wives. Some were women I would have never thought would do such a thing.

Beautiful, pretty, and cute are very different types of attractiveness in women and are generally associated with different types of personalities. They have one thing in common, however; if they lose respect for you, they're gone.

Think about this... the researchers can only judge the accuracy of the claims based on how honest the women were about their infidelity. Does anyone think women are honest about their past sexual behavior?

I think the answer for why men cannot tell by face alone is because in the real world, there are many OTHER cues of infidelity in women OUTSIDE of the face. For example, modesty. If a woman dresses modestly, she is less likely to cheat. If she has low self esteem, she is more likely to dress sexually, which is a clear signal that she avoids personal accountability and is liable to cheat or at the least monkey branch.

I think the most logical explanation is that the men they thought were more likely to cheat were the ones they were attracted to, and simply reminded them of past experiences with the good looking men they dated or tried to date who were just playing the field or cheating..

I had a friend who took a class on scientific morality. One paper he had to write was about Eugenics. Of course his point was that Eugenics was immoral, but I threw him for a loop when I said it wasn't. He asked why. I told him because we already practice Eugenics regularly. Women are nature's Eugenicists. Women are the ones that decide how a species evolves. We just have a problem taking away the power from "nature's Eugenicists" and allowing the other side of the population to have a say because of it's potential to be unnatural and traumatizing.

The reason why women were more successful at detecting cheaters is only because they had experienced that more often, while men couldn't because of a lack of experience being cheated on.

The attractive women still cheated - they just lied about it or conveniently changed the definition of “cheating”.

How do they know if those women were not lying? How was this pre-data infidelity collected?

It's not necessarily that women are great at this. It's more that men are terrible at judging women without knowing them. From my analysis the most likely cheaters are ones that wear makeup but not an excessive amount. They look attractive, but still in a "Girl next door" way. They fool men by appearing to fly under the radar. You wouldn't normally suspect a girl who isn't overly attractive or elegant of being a cheater but they are the most common ones. I also wouldn't rule out straight up unattractive girls. I've seen overweight girls admit to cheating.

I wonder if women's ability to detect men who would cheat also works to find a man to poach from another woman. If they can detect cheaters, then they can focus their attention on who is most likely to cheat with them.

If you asked woman to judge woman's infidelity and men to judge men's infidelity, the results would probably be EXACTLY the same if not better in the favour of men. Men's looks are an inductor of promiscuity. But as ANY woman can be promiscuous, it's her behaviour that matters.

If you're an 8-9 woman, scoring an 8-10 man, you're not gonna be tempted by other men since they aren't that much better than yours. But since 8-10 guys will still bang a 6-7 woman, the 6-7 women who are with 6-7 men delude themselves that the chad hitting on them is within her RELATIONSHIP range, and might cheat to try and get him.

I kind of got this sense from my own step mother as a child and didn't know even about sex or anything yet but something deep down knew she was a serial cheater and low and behold she cheated and divorced my dad ruining a family of 4 boys. Light colored eyes may actually be an adaptation against infidelity, I've noticed it being referred to several times in the research, since men with light ( often blue ) eyes tend to prefer other women with blue eyes, where as women with blue eyes don't seem to have any significant preference

Father of 2 here - I think genetic selection has focused more on men being able to look at a baby and determine if it is theirs than trying to guess infidelity in women. For men the price they pay isn't a woman they are "with" getting pregnant, the price they pay is if they put time and resources into protecting/raising offspring that aren't theirs. This would also result in determining whose male genetics carried on- cuckolds would not progress their gene pool as the offspring would not be theirs. With both of my children the moment they were born I noticed that I immediately assessed their faces looking for similarities to me or my direct family. Within seconds I my brain had determined with 100% certainty that they were mine because I recognized my nose, my lips, my eyebrows, my mother's skin tone, my sister's ears. This was done subconsciously - I never doubted my wife's faithfulness but the moment my kids were born I KNEW they were mine. I bonded with them immediately due to this soul-deep knowing that they were my biological offspring. I would be VERY curious to see a similar test to see how well a father could accurately guess if a baby was his or not.

Actually this proves men are startlingly accurate at picking the wrong answer. Which means they can almost always know the right answer if they go the opposite of their initial instinct. Like if someone gets every question wrong on a true/false quiz, that means they had to know the right answers because just guessing would have been 50% right.

I think the fact that women these days are having more partners than men on average is a major factor in their success rate. They just simply have more experience cheating and being cheated on. Plain and simple.

It makes sense. A lot of women have a high body-count these days, so they've been with enough guys to gain experience to judge from a face. They would know what guys have the opportunity of being proposed by a woman. With guys, you can't tell much from a woman's face, since they're always covered in makeup.

Technically, men were more sensitive to whatever cues are at work. All they have to do to be CORRECT 77% of the time is answer the opposite of what their intuition tells them.

That really is true, i've known some very promiscuous women, that are often kinda fat and below average attractiveness, there may just be a bigger correlation with that and infidelity as they probably need the validation more than an attractive woman does, an attractive woman doesn't need to sleep with anyone for them to still validate her everywhere she goes, be it looks or compliments.

I'm not sure how old this study is that you've used but, I've found in my own life that if a women knows she "can't" have a child through either taking the pill or just biologically inept, as a women they are much more likely to being a cheater. Couple this with low self-esteem as you've said and you get a high chance. The other way to tell is by finding out through conversations what the depth and hierarchy of their belief of sex is in their life.

The way their closest friends act is the number one indicator of a single womens behaviour. If her friends are promiscuous or cheaters then the likelihood of her being one goes up exponentially.

This was a fascinating discussion. I'm just not sure that I agree with you--if I'm hearing correctly--that an unfaithful mate is more disastrous evolutionarily for the woman. If a man chooses the wrong mate, he could unwittingly be consigning all of his resources to passing on another man's genes at his own expense. By contrast, a woman never has to worry about whose genes she's passing on, and even if she commits to a cheater, she's still likely to birth his or someone else's children and be provided for. Men aren't today and never have been on the whole inclined to desert their children's mothers. Admittedly, I didn't myself consider that a man may just have a different method of detecting unfaithfulness in women until you said that they may rely on behavior to detect signs of unfaithfulness. Maybe this is why men are slower than women to commit. Evolutionarily, a man risks nothing by sleeping with many women, but he loses a lot by committing to the wrong one because when he does, one woman gets all of his resources exclusively. A man slow to commit garners more time to catch the unfaithful woman slipping up, after which he would decide to take his commitment elsewhere, if he's smart.

If there is a way forward, it will have to be something completely new. Going backward for an answer is only going to cause resentment among the people who originally pushed away from it and the novelty of rebellious attitudes for younger people wear off quickly enough. The terms of this new agreement will likely not be very good for anyone involved. I remember an old saying that goes something like "If you can't agree on something to make both sides happy, then the next best thing is to agree on something that makes neither side happy." That being said, that is the...optimistic perspective of the situation. I believe that the first world countries will start to collapse within the next hundred years or so. No civilization in recorded history is known to have survived. Our time will come eventually. The question is simply, what is it that did us in?

I think perhaps you have it backward. It's not that women are instinctively seeking the most trustworthy father. To the contrary, they are hardwired to choose the man MOST likely to cheat! This is why they are able to accurately select the ''cheater'' from their photos. BTW, this is certainly their main strategy on dating apps. They ALWAYS choose the bad boys on dating apps, which correlates with their ability to select the ''cheaters'' from the photo test.

If you’re a young guy just assume your girlfriend/fiancé/wife is cheating on you because she probably is. Edit: I’ll disagree with Alexander about the availability for cheating not affecting whether women cheat. The NY Post recently ran an article about that and quoted a poll that women were 40% more likely to admit to cheating than 30 years ago. Her next guy is as close as her cell phone.

So how exactly do you run a study like this. To even come close to reasonable accuracy, you would need to be certain who actually did or did not cheat. If you are going on their word, the study is already useless. Men are more likely to say they did when they did not and women are more likely to say they didn't even if they had. Even according to your own videos and tons of other research. A woman's highest priority is social acceptance for survival purposes. And a mans attraction is often tied to his desirability by other women. So a man would say he did to show his desirability and a woman would be more likely to say no for fear of being shunned.
