One day, students are going to be studying your poems in English class, and they're all going to marvel at how wonderful your writing is, and they're going to wish they could write like you, and they're going to write their own poems because they're so inspired by yours. You are spectacular.
Hi! This poem is about feeling like the world is shrinking in around you and people can reach you too easily, despite the fact you live on an island. I love writing about the sea. I can't even swim! Fun. Also don't watch in HD my skin is gross
+candysomething You know when you get really moved and emotional by a poem suddenly, this is why I currently find myself tearing up- to a poem I didn't think I could relate to. Thank you for firing up my emotions xo
Love it! Dodie already mentioned it and I was waiting for you to announce it on your channel :) I feel like listening to this poem with the sound of crashing waves in the background... *opens tab*
Have you considered releasing an audio version of your poetry collection (maybe even with a description after each poem or as an extra at the end)? You just have such a lovely voice. It really suits reading poetry. All the more so if it's your own.
Candice, I wanted you to know that this video inspired me to write a song, breaking my songwriting dry spell of about 6 months :) I loved the poem and the term 'sea legs' immediately spoke to me, and suddenly this whole lyric poured out. I used a somewhat different metaphorical meaning, but the whole sea-inspiration is there too, and in the music too. Very happy about it all! If you'd like to hear it, the video is in my recent uploads (it's also called Sea Legs), I'm not going to link it here because I don't want this to look like a spammy go-watch-my-video type comment because it's not, it's a thank you for the inspiration. Thank you!!
This was beautiful! Just what I love, you should consider performing in slam poetry because your poems are meant to be spoken the way you did. Congratulations on your new book!
This is so incredibly beautiful. And you really did find all the right words which I find very hard to do. Also, can we just all have a moment to appreciate your voice?
Candice, I love, love, love your poetry. I know that because I can never just read/hear it just once. It requires more thought and appreciation. Sometimes I just have 'Fish Bowl' on repeat! Is your collection an accumulation of poetry you've written over quite a lot of your life or have you only just got into it in the last couple of years? Much love and admiration
Hello! It's been a long time since you posted here so im not sure if you'll see this. But in case you do: i was never an active subscriber, but I loved your poems (still do). I especially loved a poem titled "when you lose yourself" that you had put up on youtube. Is there any way I can find it again, in video or written format? If not it's totally ok. I just thought I'd ask because it really moved me as a teenager, and it still does now when I think about it. Thank you for allowing free access to your work, it resonates with me in a way that's hard to describe. wish you the best ☺️
