Love the topic. I want a bike that has pop at the twist of the throttle; prefer torque cams versus HP cams. I’m not doing burnouts, or riding wheelies, or riding in the top end to see just how fast it’ll run. If I need to pass, I want to hit it, be by the car I’m passing, and back in my lane safely. I also enjoy a cranky exhaust. I’m a big fan of Zippers Performance in Baltimore I believe they’re headquartered. They make what I think is the most iconic torque cam in the Red Shift 468. I like combining that with D&D billet cat exhaust (Made in Texas), and the Thundermax Auto Tuner. I think your bike would jump out of its paint and sound like a NASCAR….and yet be very rideable which is important to me. I don’t want an unreliable hotrod that is always on a lift in the shop tore down, while my buddies are out riding without me. I know you have two bikes, but I like my bike bullet-proof. Traveling Tall up in Knoxville also swears by Zippers, and Adam Sandoval is getting his new ‘24 RG dialed in by Rusty, owner of D&D Exhaust who does most of Adam’s bikes. AND Zippers and D&D have collaborated for years. Best of both worlds brother, and less than $5500 I’m sure.

Dang man. If I could describe why I’m doing a Stage 2 in the first place you nailed it. You. I’m not a crazy fast rider but when I want the power I need it to be there. I had a stage 2 done this last winter on my 23 road glide standard at a place here in northern Illinois called Bone Breaker Performance. I was happy how it perked up my 107. It went to 97 hp and 120 torque. I know you’re gonna get to far better numbers than that. But I’m quite happy with it and like any motorcycle, it was something I wanted, not really needed. Let’s face it a stock bike is fast enough to get injured on orbit worse. Great video as always. Keep them coming and let us know how it turns out!

You’ll love the stage 2! Love mine… Just find someone you trust… Moonshine may be a little more $ than Joe down the street but they will do you right and get it done rather quickly in comparison to the small Shop that will need to wait on parts. Plus they will be able to tune it. A good tune is the most important thing.

One tip is to wait until the colder months during the "off-season" when fewer bikes are on the road so the dealership(s) are LOOKING for work to do. Your bike won't be down for nearly as long and you'll be back on it in time for the so-called "riding season." I have Rhinehart slip-ons on my Fast Johnnie RG ST. I'm considering getting a Basani 2-into-1.🤔🤔🤔decisions, decisions...lol

I have heard great things about the Moonshine service department. They do things outside the standard HD box. Me, I just want to know what i in my Freewheeler. It's obvious she has an upgraded exhaust system. It's obvious she has an upgraded cam. I just have no idea what is in there though and I really want to know. I am sure the previous owner probably had it tuned when all these upgrades were put in, but I do not have the tuner. There is no record of anything in the Harley database other than they installed Spooky handlebars and reattached an emblem. So, the owner had this done outside the dealerships.

I traded my ‘21 Ultra for a ‘23 Ultra last August. I had my dealer swapping several parts from the old bike to the new one along with doing a Stage One. The technician that was working with me advised me to go ahead and get the Stage Two saying that in the long run it would save me money since they would already working on the engine and I wouldn’t have to pay extra labor hours later on. Now when it comes to stuff like this I’m as dumb as a rock so I don’t know if he was telling me the truth or just blowing smoke up my skirt but I do know that this bike has more power and I don’t find myself down shifting nearly as much on these Tennessee hills and twistees that we are blessed to ride on here in our part of the world. So did I need it, no. But do I like the extra power that I have on a heavy bike like the Ultra, absolutely. So I’d say go ahead and get the Stage Two, especially since your bike is a CVO.

It took one day to do and no way near $5k. Then there is the tuning thing which from what I hear is about $800. The thing rips and sounds much more HD than that silly stupid stock system. @@TyFromTennessee You're welcome - hope it's helpful. The FXLRST was my first Harley so I did some pretty serious rat-holing on this subject talking to quite a few tech's and guys I ride with trying to figure out what you 'need' to do and what you 'should' do...including the 'while you're in there..." stuff. The other big thing is shop pricing. I had one shop close to me quote double the labor hours to do a cam than another one. So, knowing what it really should take and to be able to have that conversation with your tech/shop is important too. I went with the CR483 cam - it's an absolute beast! Highly recommend checking it out.

Going to a "Stage 2" is the best bang for the buck power upgrade that can be done. I'm a hard rider and have had a "performance bagger" since long before it was a trend. Don't take this the wrong way, but I've ridden with your crew and seen plenty of the videos, you all are not performance riders, nor do you "push" your bikes. So why do you want to waste your money and time with an upgrade that you will do nothing with? You're not using your ST's power with a stage 1, why in the world would you want more? Really the only thing a Stage2 is going to do is get you riding above your head and out of your comfort zone, which increases your chance of "issues"....
@TyFromTennessee
@TyFromTennessee Месяц назад
I think that is an honest question and point you have made. While I'm not a aggresive rider I do like to have the power when I need to call on it and it's just so much fun to take a motorcycle and make it your own, whether that is for power, comfort, or looks. Either way I'm really excited about this project and I think it's going to turn out awesome. Thank you very much for watching sir!

@@TyFromTennessee I sort of came off sounding like a jerk... But this bothers me, because of experiences I've had with riders and their "hot rodded" bikes. They have all this power built in and lip service about wanting to ride hard... Once we're actually rubber to road, they won't turn, they won't pass and I'm the bad guy because I'm pushing ahead. But worst of all is that most do stupid shit, when they use the power, trying to be fast in the wrong place, time or situation..... I've been put in danger by riders that don't know what they are doing but want to push it with their power upgrades.

Totally agree with your point of view on stage 2, I had stage 2 on my last bike, loved the sound of bike and the power but at low speeds it sucked, had to ride the clutch at low speeds, , and the stage 2 really took away from the gas milage, just bought a new FXLRST, going to keep it stock, with the 117 absolutely no need for more power.@@painsrides3616
