Showing up is the latest film from Director Kelly Reichardt and is the fourth team up with her and star Michelle Williams. Filmed in 2022 but not released until April 2023, This film tells the story of an artists struggle in her day to day life leading up to a big show. Today I will review both the film and the A24 shop exclusive 4K blu ray.

Just ordered my copy. Can't wait to check it out. It was pretty limited in theaters, so didn't have a chance, but I enjoy those subtle slice of life movies as well. Solid review

I appreciate the compliment! I saw your other comments I totally understand where you’re coming from. This movie is definitely very slow with little plot. I know it’s not for everyone but sometimes I like these slice of life movies. Thanks for checking out the video and cheers to you too! 🍻

@TiagoCavalcanti-ji6hu Richard Linklater loves to do them with the after Trilogy movies and Suburbia where essentially nothing happens. My favourite is a movie called Patterson staring Adam Driver. These movies the stakes are never to high and the most dramatic moments are like what would be a dramatic moment in our regular lives and that really doesn’t always translate well to film for everyone. I think why I like them and this isn’t all the time. These aren’t even my favorite types of movies but it’s seeing other people live their lives and it helps to put my own life into perspective.

Interesting. I literally didn`t know that was a thing. I fairly enjoyed the Before Trilogy and Waking Life. I got curious now about what made me so pissed. Guess there were no characters or situations I could relate with; there`s literally no one in the flick I would like to be, or be with, or know more about, or talk to, etc. Thanx 4 your patience and for being good sports ! .@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia

By the way, at the beginning of Before Sunrise, when they meet on the bus scene, he tells her about making a movie that depicts the common moments in life... remember what she answered? I have the same opinion as hers, lol. @@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia

Does Judd Hirsch deliver a good performance? I've always liked his acting in film and TV.

Judd Hirsch is his usual great self but he’s only in 2 scenes as Lillys father. He plays a perfect dad.

I think so personally, Is Brendan Fraser better than any performance on this movie? Yes it is but as an overall film I think this one is much better. I enjoy these slice of life movies though.

I know this movie isn’t for everyone. It’s very slow. I like these kind of slice of life movies. I’ll watch a few of these a year and A24 puts out a lot of them but I totally get why you wouldn’t like it. Most people i’ve talked to either hated it or absolutely loved it. No in between.

Agreed. And I do love slow burns, art movies, Bergman, Hitchcock, Scorcese, Win Wenders, and even Buñuel (for fuck's sake!!!). I got a thing for low-budget/ indie/ one-location... so, my limits and patience are very stretched out, but this... wow, this one takes the cake! It must be deliberate, for it's really well shot, scripted, acted, delivered... just, there's no story. Guess that was the point. Ha, show off.

This was the dullest thing I ever wasted my time with. Unbearably boring, literally NOTHING happens. I repeat: nothing. Couldn't see the point. My favorite movies are: "12 Angry Men" (12 people talking in a room), "The Man from Earth" (Six people talking in a room), and "Primer" (two people talking and breaking physics in a garage.) So, it's not this. But this one... I don't see it; it is absolutely pointless. I couldn't finish it. How come it is Oscar material? Why ???? A great performance of... nothing. Beautiful? Yep, and...? The Creator is one of the most gorgeously beautiful movies ever shot and, at the same time, one of the worst stories ever (it makes no sense at all; literally zero decisions made are relatable on any level, I would have graded that story below 5 out of 10 from any student of mine, it is worse than bad). So... being beautiful for the sake of being beautiful... "Lamb" was beautiful. Again, I LOVE SLOW MOVIES; I just prefer it when something happens. Like, anything at all...

I’m glad you brought up primer that’s a good one 12 Angry men is one of my favorites also. I also did like Lamb that was a beautiful movie to look at. I totally get where you’re coming from though.
