@@scottk1525 Cancelling has been around for a long while. One of the most famous ones was called the "Salem Witch Trials". Thing is, now cancelling is a lot more common now, and sometimes (but not always) less lethal. But same idea. Mob has feelings, so you're guilty.
I watch his comedy because he's super funny. Parts of this clip was also funny. He's a brilliant comic. And I think he should be able to make a come back. But he's implying here that all the women said yes to him when he asked when, in fact, among the five accusers only one (the anonymous person) said yes to his repeated request. He did not ask for consent in the four other accounts that's been made public. I don't think what he did was super evil or tantamount to rape. But I've seen so many comments saying he did nothing wrong. Come on. He did SOMETHING wrong. Why should he attack his accusers? He apologized. It's a bit disappointing that he's not taking full responsibility here. He didn't always ask or got their consent; yet, he's just emphasizing how a woman's "yes" might mean "no," when most women who came forward didn't even say yes to him.
@J B The two in the hotel said they laughed it off but didn't consent. Even if they laughingly said yes, that's not a real consent if they thought it was a joke. If I asked my friend if I could take away his baby son because he's so cute and the friend laughed and said yes please, does that immediately give me the right to take the kid? The two women must have been shocked when after they laughed it off (whether they said yes or not) he immediately took his clothes off. That's not what a normal conversation between people used to sarcasm would lead to. What's even worse is that these two women were pressured not to talk about it because he was (yes, he was then) in a position of power. Also, I don't know what you mean by "it's a different matter on the phone." Do you have any idea how creepy that is?
I agree. And I also would had to that that Louis's size probably matches the elephant's so it all adds up. And by that what I mean to say is that he's fat.
Him joking about it puts him in the same light as Lenny Bruce, Bill Hicks, Pryor, Carlin, etc. The word "legend" is overused for so many people but Louis is truly a living legend, as sad as it is to say he won't be appreciated the way he should be until after he has passed... like all great entertainers.
cristal stop. They aren’t “victims” and you damn well know it. He asked them and they said yes then years later they mentioned that they didn’t like it and that they only did it because they thought they had to. How’s he supposed to know what they think
I dont think anyone should underestimate how incredible it is that he got up there and just did that. He was completely humiliated and people tried to end him, and he even took that and turned it into a great joke. Its like hes got the philosophers stone or something, he can turn anything into something gold. Love you louie, please keep making me laugh. Its good to have you back.
Al, you clearly don't care about sexual assault, I sincerely hope you have no women in your life and especially no children to harm with your acceptance of sexual assault.
so let me give a timeline for you people...Louis ck releases a special a year ago. Many clips reach the front page of REDDIT but get deleted, due to the "socio political" atmosphere reddit wanted in 2015-TILL NOW. This has carried on until literally A FEW DAYS AGO....Look into the reddit censorship, for some odd reason its FINALLY STUCK, reddit will not censor posts for the time being because of some drama in the UK....Flashfoward to now... Reddit gets in legal trouble regarding the censorship of free press and speech. Two days later...That same clip of louis ck talking about what happened becomes the most popular clip on the site....Wow....I hope reddit is a democracy again....So that all of us with dreams to make an audience have a chance again...Reddit should always be a democracy, regardless of its owner.
@@TV93412nc How can a website be a democracy...they can do whatever they want with their platform, we don't own it and they don't owe us anything. /r/louisck has remained supportive throughout though.
That's what makes Louis so good. *EVERYTHING* seems improvised. Every bit just feels like he's having a natural conversation and just so happens to be really fuking funny. He'll even intentionally phrase things awkwardly sometimes to make it seem even more candid. It's pretty impressive.
I think that once comedians reach a certain tier, they just kinda slowly fade away. Once they're rich as fuck, their life experience changes and their comedy kinda simmers. That is, unless they've got something driving them to keep creating. Carlin had tax problems so he had to work. Dangerfield actually quit for like 10-15 years or something (but kept writing material) before he ever even made it. There's guys like Chris rock or Eddie Murphy who don't really make us laugh anymore because they never fucked up. Seinfeld too (tho he's been getting much better recently. Not sure why) Carlin, CK, Chappelle: they all went through shit that resulted in huge financial loss/public humiliation, and I think it actually helped or is helping their later careers. Louie's last special before Sincerely was kinda not very good imo. This one is way better. Hope he keeps crankin em out
I probably could of watched this somewhere for free, but I purposely went to your website and paid the $7.99 just to support you and basically give a big middle finger to those that do not. I LOVE YOU LOUIE! SO MUCH! YOU HAVE MADE ME LAUGH EVEN ON MY WORST DAYS AND HAVE BROUGHT ME TO TEARS! NEVER STOP! NEVER GIVE UP! YOU'RE A FASCINATING HUMAN BEING!
Hello, your comment resonated with me. I also bought his special and like you, I go searching to re-watch Louis content online whenever I ‘need’ it. Maybe I’ve felt shit about myself or the world or just needed the sharp incisive wit of his to rip away the glitter covering society, I just love Louis’ comedy. Plus, I think the guy is very intelligent.
I understand a lot of people are AMAZED by Bill Burr, but from Louis C. K. that's going 1 step down, not up. Don't get me wrong, he is good, excellent even, but he's not "all-time-greats" amazing. ....and Tom Segura is 2 steps down in that frame of reference... To go UP from Louis C. K. you need something equally clever but darker, harder hitting. That's DOUG STANHOPE. If you haven't seen him, you should. That guy took his own mother's suicide and turned it into one of the funniest bits ever (Afterlife, it's called) in one of the funniest specials ever (Beer Hall Putsch)... and it wasn't even the funniest bit in that special! Enough said. Watch and see.
No, CK is a genuine comedian, Emmenim is an overhyped rapper who was over promoted to feed Caucasians need to have their hero of a black American genre.
The balls it took to joke about it is straight up worthy of a Purple Heart. Maybe an upside down Purple Heart thats kinda a little blue-ish, but he deserves respect for owning it in the most legendary way possible. Louis CK is the fucking man!
Balls would be what you had if you were the _victim_ and you made a joke, not if you were the perpetrator. That's not as hard. I mean shit, everyone _cheers_ at the prospect. He got positive affirmation for it. Does it take balls to do something that everyone cheers about?
Of course OF COURSE he had to address it? And he had to joke about it HE'S A COMEDIAN. You're the kind of person a teacher would have to warn the class about. How could he be Louis if he didn't you numpty. He has to talk about it. This was squalid. I expected better, I expected him to fucking actually own the shit out of it. I hoped. What a low fucking bar you have. Louis is way better than this. He has the independence to maybe make it out somewhat intact. But he will not thank the likes of you, acting like what he did was kosher. HE ADMITS IT WAS WRONG YOU GOBSHITE. His fans now are the worst, potato quality people.
I bought the whole show at his website. Totally worth it! One of his best specials for sure. And the way he addressed "the elephant in a room", genius.
Like when Pee Wee Herman finally returned with "heard any good jokes lately?!" He dives right in and the elephant in the room is gone. Louis, your way of looking at the world is sorely missed. Welcome back.
Yeah, @@voicetube Bill Burr is another HUGE favorite of mine. Also a terrific writer. Huge discipline, there. Honorable mention: George Carlin. Undisputed champion.
The fact that he set up his website before the "scandal" to sell his material was genius and lucky. Can't cancel a guy when he is selling is his own stuff from his own shop.
After reading these comments & also having already watched the special via torrent, I'll be chipping in as well just on principle. Good on ya for giving me the reminder.
I listen to this special at least twice a week. The cure to any bad day, this joke in particular leaves me passing out laughing! What saddens me is we'll only ever see him in stand up. Nothing else cause that one scandal
Tbh i dont think he can top the 3 shows he did, in their respective categoeries. Lucky louis, Louis and Horace and Pete (this one in particular is an absolute masterpiece)
"If you're good at juggling you wouldn't do it alone in the dark, you would gather folks and amaze them" - perfect analogy Louis! Great to see you back buddy.
the thing I love about Louis is that anyone else in the history of RU-vid would choose a click-bate title for this video such as "Louis CK finally talks about his misconduct" or something like that to get the most views, but he just puts "Sincerely Louis CK 1" in the title? who chooses a simple title like that? I tell you who, our beloved Louis! Now that I see you on stage and on Rogan's podcast, I'm happy for you, the way a father is happy to see his child succeed!!! Love you from IRAN
Crazy how Louie knew he was on the way down but just didn't know how. On O&A when the boys were praising him on his success he commented that it was temporary. Just like one of his episodes things go good then it turns to shit, just like him losing millions. Way a go Louie.
Stalin was one of the best mass murderers of all time and I know they re not in the same category but glorifying someone because they apologized is fucking silly. Look at any "communism" textbook from the eastern bloc.
@@alexmoyer1914 Hahaha this comparison is as ridiculous as when Louis C.K. compared Ray Charles and Adolf Hitler. Except Louis C.K. was intelligent, hilarious, and joking. Three things you're clearly not. Also, when did Stalin ever apologize for anything?
You not just make me pee laughing, but also teach me humility along with genius. Missed you so much. I'm beyond happy you're back and what a comeback! ❤️
I still rewatch your specials they hold up extremely well and I still laugh knowing your entire set list you are a legend thank you very much for making me laugh.
