@Mark Warner the scheme doesn’t matter. Corner responsibilities on run plays are always outside-in. Funnel everything back inside, don’t let the back hit the sideline because the only person left would be the opposite side corner on an angle to try and save the TD. You learn this in Pop Warner.

It amazes me how dumb this post is. Coaches who rarely played on a very high level know 1000x what All Pro level players do about the sport. Using “I played” to bolster your argument is embarrassingly bad logic. Shannon knows more about the technique required to play TE or what it feels like to be in the NFL but that’s about it.

Who is you look at his actual QB play was average at best. He was a great handoff QB. Who played on some very talented teams. When you throw as little as he did. I don't believe Skip knows what he's talking about when it comes to knowing what defense is called. I only played high school football and at the time, we, the offense studied defenses so we would know what they were doing. I wouldn't be able to tie Shannon's shoes. It's the job of the 4 lineman and 2 outside LBs to make sure nothing get outside and turn everything inside to the middle LB. Dallas fails that week after week. Setting the edge so to speak. RBs can't get there or you've failed your job as a 4-3.

To be fair, he would've had a leg to stand on......had he not been talking to a former professional football player. And there are certain concepts that are universal to several defenses, and outside contain is one of THE most basic ones. If you're gonna do an interior rush, I'm no football expert or coach, bit I believe the linebacker behind you needs to know that or you're just abdicating your responsibility.....which was exactly Shannon's point.

Yes, he has 7 TOs, but you can argue the o line didnt give him time to throw and pass rushers like myles Garrett made easy plays. One int was a failed last fling to the endzone. Don't know about that analogy. If your manager doesn't schedule enough workers or don't put you in the best possible position to get the job done, your customers will suffer. If you are a cook and they ask you to bartend, you might make it through the night but the customer won't have the best experience. If you are a bartender and the manager doesn't stock the bar because the order wasn't placed, you are going to be limited what you can serve. I see this as both sides need some blame but the fans and the players just want to keep finding fault in the leadership. I do agree about Jerry being the enabler here more than anything and apparently these players are more like kids who will abuse a system like the one Jerry has created.

Skip and Shannon “wear” many different "hats" on this program including sportscaster, entertainer, “show-boater” and statistician but I must say the explanations Shannon provided about the Cowboys anemic defensive performances demonstrates why he is also an Analyst.
