He used to sound like scotch and cigars, now he sounds like Bourbon, its strong and full of character, but smooth and sweet, and he's the real deal. and actual singing cowboy to put Gene & Roy to shame. Gonna add to the "Big Iron" vote. But also "Wild Dogs"

I’d agree but to be annoyingly specific I’d say he use to sound like an an over-proofed Isla peated scotch and a cheap cigar to now sounding like a 100 proof bourbon with a smoking pipe. Just right in the pocket and controlled.

I recently discovered Colter as well. This is one of my favorites of his. I also came across a video for "Paste Magazine" and he did an acoustic version of the song Snake Mountain Blues. Amazing. A more recent one I just watched was "Bob Fudge" which he does outside in tall grass haha. As western as it gets. Major Johnny Cash vibes in that one. He became one of my favorite artists almost overnight.

I enjoy a lot of Colter's music. I have yet to hear a song from him I don't like. Off his albums and singles: Lot of the good ones have been mentioned; here are some of the ones that aren't quite as famous yet still frequently grace my radio: John Beyers (fun story, based on a feud two guys from his hometown had over a girl, where the eponymous John Beyers and the unnamed narrator take potshots at each other's Camaros), Wild Bill Hickok, Tying Knots In The Devil's Tail, Plain To See Plainsman, Henry & Sam, High & Mighty, his cover of Big Iron, Thirteen Silver Dollars, Living On The Sand, Codeine Dream, Transcendent Ramblin' Railroad Blues, Ballad Of A Law Abiding Sophisticate, Bob Fudge, and You're Lucky She's Lonely. Songs that haven't made it to album yet: He's done several really good Roger Miller covers, but hands down, the cover he did of "A World So Full Of Love" with The Dead South is the best I've heard so far. "My Uncle Used To Love Me But She Died", another Roger Miller cover he did with The Dead South, doesn't quite hit you as hard, but is a lot of fun. Thanks for covering this, I enjoyed it!
