A little bit of clarification on Sunken Scroll 2, it is actually the final boss fight in the first game, and not an actual concert. This is proven by the appearance of Agent 3 on the right. The Sunken Scroll's text appears to simply be an attempt (and apparent success) at conditioning the other Octarians into believing that it was just a concert. This is likely an attempt at rewriting Octavio's defeat out of history.
Well, it WAS a battle of the bands. Literally. Boss fight was just a side show :P Also, could be a cover up by the Splatoon to hide their activities. No one is supposed to know about the underground war with the Octarians

+Crimson when I read it I read it like she was singing except she wasn't good at singing and the sound equipment ended up breaking causing a sound shockwave and that's why she looks kinda sad in the picture.
I was under the impression that rather than it being an image of Pearl singing and the speakers exploding from her voice, that it was actually a picture of Pearl crying, still in shock from the "Bomb" that went off. I never thought of it as being a comedic way to show that Pearl can only rap. And I mean, Pearl can be heard singing in some of the other Off the Hook songs from the splatfest, such as, "Acid Hues". I don't know, I just thought she was a terrorist attack victim or something?

Just a small little theory that I can't confirm but maybe DJ Octavio turned evil cause the squid sisters where getting so much popularity that he wasn't very noticed much?
MLG Jellyfish I do like that theory. However I do get the impression that their rivalry is friendly. Partly because one, although he probably hates it, Octavio still dances to the Squid Sisters' music. And two, the image at the end of the credits for S2 shows the Squid Sisters together and the DJ just chilling beside them.
Sorry to burst your bubble,but in the first Splatoon, the scrolls explained that reason there is a rivalry between the octarians and the squidkids is because they didn't have enough power, and the squidkids kept the great zapfish. The octarians try to take the zapfish so they can have power and grow stronger. The octarians and the squidkids used to be passive to each other
MLG Jellyfish what I think is that Octavio was never evil just that The Great War For Land changed everything in the first game you can see that Octavio and cuttlefish were great friends but the war each had to fight for their own kind Cuttlefish for inklings/other creatures and Octavio for octarians but inklings had it all they had energy from the great zap fish witch Octavio needed for his octarians that's why he steals it because he's probably afraid that he might get killed so he steals it and causes more trouble with agent 3 and squid sisters then Octavio steals the zapfish and Callie out of despite but I truly believe that Octavio has a soft side maybe
MLG Jellyfish This theory is pretty much debunked, sorry to say. You see, DJ Octavio and Cuttlefish obviously have a history together, we know that much. Through the Sunken Scrolls in the first game, there is a picture of presumably Cuttlefish and Octavio standing together, explaining the relationship between the Inklings and Octarians. So, there you have it! Octavio is 'evil' because he was a military leader in the Great Turf War.
Momo Pafu 14 as I'm pretty sure it was said somewhere that inklings take full control of both squid and kid forms at 14 and pearl mentions while announcing stages her experience in BATTLE.
It is safe to say that Marina was there during both phases on the final boss fight of Splatoon one. As you can see agent 3 going up against Octavio in that scroll
{Spoilers} Marina's origins were set in the final boss.. Notice how she isn't wearing shades like the rest of the octolings.The octolings are wearing hypno-shades. But Marina took them off and turned good. That's what I believe anyway. If this is in a comment below don't hate on me and say to get my own ideas.. I have been watching Matpat's videos for two years; so I am a theorist.

Did you even point put that in Marina's origin photo that in front of the octarians you can see Agent 3 fighting DJ Octavio, meaning that the party was going on during the final battle.
Hi am Otaku I think part of it is her penchant for scowling (I'm with the people who think she just needs glasses), oddly baby-/childlike looks, and the fact that Marina is just super-popular. I personally like Pearl and think she's cute.
She looks like a gremlin, also I don't like rap. Her throwing stupid hand signs and acting gangster annoys me. I like callie and Marie more than the new girls.
Spoiler Alert A theory I have is that DJ octavio captured Callie because since marina left as a octoling pop star the DJ captured her because he needed another singer,since the final boss on splatoon 2 was based on a concert with octavo featuring callie....Oh an I hope to see more with the squid sisters and off the hook...maybe with single player

The Block WIzard Probably because they don’t know Octolings or Octarians exist as you as the player needs to keep it a secret. The inklings probably think it’s a cool new hairstyle that only celebrities can get, since both Callie, Marie, and Pearl have haircuts that no other inkling can get.
Kinda weird that she’s the only one you see (excluding ‘story mode’), but there’s strong evidence that everyone knows she’s an octoling but they accept her anyways

Considering how in both Splatoon games the Squid Sisters keep their identity as agents fighting the Octarians a secret, and considering how that second Sunken Scroll shows what looks to be Agent 3 in the Hero Suit from Splatoon 1 fighting Octavio, I imagine that concert was in fact the final boss fight of Splatoon 1. This would make sense since it would be a good way to cover up their activities and not cause the people of Inkopolis to panic.
You haven't played the first Splatoon, have you? The second sunken scroll is about the final boss battle in the first game, the Octarians who saw it thought it was a concert, hence the writing of the scroll. You can even see Agent 3 shooting at DJ Octavio who's in his evil machine.

That's because you don't understand that the octolings are a race. Their are hundred of octolings out there that have the same form as Marina, and if she had that kind of connection to him, no doubt she would make some sort of reference to it.
You know what Nintendo can't explain, why Marina was the only Octoling allowed to rise to popularity despite the 2 species being in a war against each other. I'm pretty Nintendo just wanted her to be Octoling for the hell of it and didn't think anyone would question it.
1. it's super obvious it's pearl in that sunken scroll: same teeth, same eye shape, same hair color, she even has a crown 2. Taylor swift started out as a country singer, not a folk singer 3. "that legendary underground show two years ago" was the boss battle from Splatoon 1, which came out 2 years ago. so they didn't put aside their differences or whatever to perform. they battled and the crowd of octarians watching thought it was a legitimate performance that had been planned. I imagine that to marina it looked like a "octarians and inklings CAN coexist and rock out together!" sorta thing which inspired her to form Off The Hook with an inkling & perform as an octoling in front of crowds of inklings.

That Concert in the world of the Octarians with DJ Octavio and the Squid Sisters was the final Mission in the Single Player of Splatoon 1 because you can see the ink flying and also you can see Agend 3 on th bottom of the picture with his gear on and I think DJ Octavio was firing up the Giant fist on his DJ mashine at least that is what it looks like to me
I just realized in splatoon 1 the female haircut is tall and pearl’s old photo has her tentacles tall but in splatoon 2 when the short haircut came along pearl’s tentacles became shorter

I'm pretty sure the "concert" being referenced in Marina's page is the final boss battle in Splatoon 1, especially since Agent 3 is shown in the picture.
I have a feeling that the screams you hear in the blender cutscene in Octo Expansion are connected to Pearl’s origin in a way. Think about it. The speaker next to Tartar broke, just like the one in the scroll, and you could hear people screaming when the blender opened up, which were the people that were inside the building at the time that the shock wave happened.
Now I kind of feel bad for Pearl, knowing that something she enjoys doing almost got people hurt one time, something that would emotionally scar anyone.
Yeah, that's Pearl. In the Octo Expansion Pearl finishes off the NILS statue with a vocal sonic boom that she claims she hasn't done for many years. Also, she always wears a crown and has one in the scroll.
I love them both soooo much! I like Marina a bit more because of her sass, but I think their personalities would be better off with Pearl being sassy and Marina being sweet... stop the hate on Pearl.

Marina was in the crowd during Agent 3's showdown with DJ Octavio, and the part where it mentions the Squid Sisters performance is during the final phase. You know? When Calamari Inkantation played? Well, the full story isn't given here. It only explains what those would notice if they're complete idiots and didn't see Agent 3 wreck their leader...
Sunken scroll two is actually the final boss in the first game, the big red tentacle speaker to the left is in the fight and it talks about when the squid sisters (agents 1&2) sing.
Erules 711 Hating Pearl is indirectly hating Marina. Marina is Pearl's best friend in the whole wide world, and Pearl was also the one who helped her to stardom. Marina was an octarian. Not many would trust her because of that. Pearl, saw through that and led her to the stage. So in other words, Pearl is very kind and anyone who hates on her is clearly pure evil.
It would be great to have a story-spinoff game of some sorts instead of these half-assed single player levels. I mean, its nice to have a single player option for practice. However, I was disappointed after they decided to explore more story of Marie and Callie, which then didn't transfer into the game in terms of more character depth in general.
I mean it doesn't surprise me they did this with Callie, and Marie in Splatoon just not a lot of people made as big of a deal about getting the Scrolls in that game as they did Splatoon 2 (the singleplayer was really easy back then) most people just played Turf War which is fine, but now they're jumping on this bandwagon with the announcement of the Octo Expansion like they've always been following the Story, I mean I've been collecting scrolls like crazy since day 1 of Splatoon Wii U the story is just so mysterious, and enteresting, to me.. like the fact that not only Judd was a link that the Inklings/Octarians/Salmon were apart of a post human civilization, but little Judd too if you read they actually formated the scrolls just like Splatoon in Splatoon 2 (even down to the capsule kitty) they talk about the Octarians a lot, they do mention the behavior habits of the Salmon (For Splatoon 2, in Splatoon it was mainly Octarians) a sprinkle of plot between the main story characters (Callie Marie, and The Main Poster Girls for the game), and something that could have a deeper meaning to the story (Mainly The Judd Duo) TBH though it leaves me at odds with how much this Octo Expansion will open will we hear more of that war Capt'n Cuttlefish fought in, or what things have caused the loosened ties between Inklings, and Octarians between the two games I mean Marina for Squid Sake that was a big thing for me seeing what I use to think was my enemy as now a poster girl that's like having a Gumba wait.... (Search's Paper Mario TYD... No way they did that) whatever bottom line it was different, and we all know she is beloved by the community, it just blew my mind how much that divid changed in 4 years (Time explained by series lore, and litteral time between games) anyway I'm going on I love Splatoon too much its so Ironic when I saw the trailers I thought it was stupid, bought it day 1 as a dare just cause my friend said I wouldn't, I proved him wrong, and I found out how much I loved it xD Win, Win.
The concert was I think the final battle from splatoon 1 because we can see DJ Octavio in his pod thingy launching one of the fists to an inkling that could be agent 3
I'd like to point out that "Two years ago" in game would be the events of the first Splatoon. The "underground show" is the final boss battle with DJ Octavio. It was covered up as a show. I find this funny because this means that the player (agent 3 in game) is partly responsible for marina being inspired. (If you look at the bottom left of the picture, you see Agent 3 very clearly; the "scroll" is an excerpt from a fairly recent article.)
I like to think that Marina was squidnapped (or octonapped in her case?) by the inklings then brainwashed to become one with inkling society to spite the octarians for squidnapping Callie. But, whatever
P.S the Squid Sisters didn't perform with DJ Octavio. Cap'n Cuttlefish was kidnapped and Agent 3 had to save him, then the Squid Sisters interfered with his radio and played their Fuel The Melody song to mess up his machinery so Agent 3 could win.
Marina was at the battle of you against Octavio, and the squid sisters played music while you were battling!!! There is even proof, YOUR IN THE SUNKEN SCROLL!!!! (bottom left side)
My theory about marina, (This may be because I've finished the Octo Expansion recently) is that she used to be an octarian octoling. In the second scroll of the single player mode you see marina holding the goggles the octolings wore in splatoon one. Maybe during the concert when you beat DJ Octavio in splatoon one some octolings could remove their goggles and join Inkopolis in peace. She also has an octarian degree in weapon engineering, so that is proof that she used to be on their side. Thank you for your time.
Hi I just watched a couple of your videos and I gotta say I absolutely love them, although there are some minor things you could improve on, two things specifically. One thing is to slightly lower you mic volume and try to speed up your talking, the other thing being is that you should think about writing scripts so you already know what you’re about to say, it helps when it comes to confidence and you won’t have the problem of sometimes falling into some sort of rambling. Stay awesome!
