Thank you very much. What crossover pipe are you talking about? The exhaust manifolds have a flex pipe attached the flange that the turbo connects to. Yeah the one piece down pipe is a pain in the butt for sure. Thank you for watching.

The way I get those 2 books off is from the bottom, long extension, big ratchet from driver side of trans. You have to make sure you have the socket on the bolt square or it will round then your screwed. Message me on Instagram if you need any more help. Good luck and thanks for watching

can excessive oil in intercooler cause this?

After it shut off did you have any issues with it starting or running away?

It is possible. Usually when I am replacing turbos in Sprinters it is for oil leaking or excessive oil consumption and I replace intercooler with the turbo because the intercooler is full of oil. Also I replace the CAC tubes because they are oil soaked and do not want any issues with turbo system after the repair. Thank you for watching. The Y pipe comes out with the turbo. All 6 bolts from y pipe to exhaust manifolds are done from up top. The Y pipe bracket to block those two bolts I get from underneath. Please message me on Instagram and I can help you more. Thanks for watching.

That particular bracket has 4 bolts . 2 on the Y pipe and 2 on the transmission. You take out the ones on the transmission and leave the other 2 on the Y pipe. . The bracket comes out with the turbo and the Y pipe. You can reach them from the top with a medium extension , no swivel. A lot easier to lossen those 2 since they aren't affected by the exhaust heat .

I actually unbolt that bracket from the turbo, I leave it attached to the transmission personally. I get it from underneath with a wobble and long extension.

Hi Tone .Great video ! First time I took the turbo out I unbolted at the Y pipe with 2 extensions and a swivel but it was supper difficult . Older 2008 model super corroded and high miles ( around 600K ) original turbo . Got them out somehow using a minitorch but it was a huge pain . I found out about unbolting at the transmission from another youtube video ( forgot the name of the channel ) . Second time I unbolted at the transmission and saved a lot of time and frustration. Low torque ( they bolt into alluminum ) and no corrosion. Thanks for posting !

Does excessive oil in the intercooler cause a runaway condition? I just installed a new turbo on a 2016 sprinter and the engine ran away for a few seconds.

@@gregagan3985 yes it can. Conside checking your PCV valve. Do you idle for long periods? The pcv is junk from what I understand. Many people are deleting it, and others are installing an air oil separator. At idle positive crank case pressure can and will make it through the pcv to the turbo acting like the turbo is leaking oil.

I mean yeah but will be very expensive.

...if so, what's the easiest way to check?

I've had multiple of these with same problem we replace turbo and intercooler and clean the charge air tube and pipes really good never had a problem. Thanks for watching

@markshipley560 we get the turbos from Worldpac pretty sure the intercooler from there as well. Do not put in a cheap turbo. I am not at work until possibly March with sprained ankle so I cannot look anything up.

Usually even when I've had the impeller come a part we replace the turbo intercooler and usually the charge air hoses. Thanks for watching

So the intercooler and all the boost pipes are pretty nessecary?

@jeffsgarage8414 if there is any debris in the intercooler from the bad turbo it will go through the turbo. The piping just needs to be flushed really good. Usually the rubber portions are worn so replace that part.

You cannot remove the turbo on any vehicle designed to have a turbo. Especially a modern diesel. Thank you for watching.

@@NutsandBoltswithTone Not in Europe..buddy..maybe for them dodge US Sprinters..i live in Germany and own a German 2014 sprinter. The 6cyl Engine is also available here with twin turbos in them..the 4cyl got one turbo..my start to whistle so i soon need replace it ..with a rebuilt one. Costs here 600$ if you send in,your old one.🤔🇩🇪

@@ricksworlddereaux2397 oh ok the sprinters stopped being made by dodge years ago. They have been Mercedes Sprinters for many years.
