I had a black LX notchback 1991...this was early 1994..underdrive pulleys ,gut the airbox ,and change the gears.low 13 second car for about $400 in mod parts..that was speedy for the time.. although if it was raining/wet pavement ,and Honda Civic SI will beat you to 70mph
I’ve had an ‘81 & ‘87 so far, both were loads of fun. I had my ‘81 gutted inside, even took the carpet out and also no heat, no glovebox, no console etc, it was awesome, I daily drove it like that and ran it at the track too. I sold a ‘92 Cougar once and had a neighbour come test drive it, he came back 20mins later with a case of beer lol, of course he never bought the car either!😂
Good times - remembering back to all the hoopties I used to drive. They may not have had many (if any) accessories or even things like brakes, but they do have memories. Thanks for the ride down memory lane.
Took a 6 second car running on 110 to the grocery store. I spat my Diet Dew outta my mouth brother!! Hahahahaha love your vids bro keep up the good work!!
Those fox body cars bring back so many memories of me sending those ford guys home with hurt feeling after getting a hold of them with my Buick grandnational. Lol
Nice a fox body story. I have a bright red 89 gt 347. Love the reef blue and that calypso green. Also I swear "that's a story for another time" will be on this mans headstone. Just like if it's not on thing it's another on mine lol
I never did the B.A.T on mine but then again I always went for the GT hatch or convertible because I always just loved the looks and the sound of that 5.0 with 40 series flowmasters 5 speed of course.
My 93 RBM coupe is in great condition like this one. No snow and VERY LITTLE rain. Lowered instead of the drag look (I like em all though) With the old school ROH Snyper wheels that are very rare today as well. Harwood 2.5 in. cowl hood and a real, Centrex, Saleen wing. 331 stroker w/ forged internals, AFR heads and a Paxton Novi 1000 blower and all the trimmings to make it all work. 473 to the wheels. Good buddy has a cherry 88 Saleen w/ 18k miles
Had a hatchback the same color, it was perfect on the inside.. got it from an old mans family that was selling his stuff off. They said the back seat had never been sat in. Sold it and I always regretted it.
Loved this story because I'm kind of living it now. I've had a couple basic muscle cars to drive, but I just put a tag on my fairly new to me and my first ever stripped down drag car and took it out last weekend for the first time. Had to wear ear plugs even though it has mufflers due to the raw metal interior resonance. Overall it was a pretty cool experience that I could only handle occasionally. It's an 11 second (with my beginner self driving) Natural aspirated 427 BBC Camaro with cage and harness manual valve body trans brake line lock DOT slick etc, but I can tell you that I have not really had that kind of experience on the street before and it is pretty intense. I know you can go spend 75K on a hellcat and be in comfort and do that, but this sure ain't that. Did a few 3 gear burnouts and stuff and it sounded like Nascar in there. Pretty fun. And it has the monster tach and exhaust turned down before axle, no wiper, no climate control, no keys, a bunch of switches etc.... :)
I have always wanted a LX fox body police interceptor. aka coop.. or notchback.. ever since I was a kid. My first car was a 1986 LX mustang.. a 4 banger.. 2.3L overhead cam. I had got my hands on a SVO turbo settup.. everything.. waste gate.. exhaust.. my buddy's dad rebuilt the motor to handle the upgrades. Only condition was that I had to pay for all the parts.. that and I had to mow his lawn weekly the rest of the summer. He had 5 acres. By my senior year.. the car was perfect.. everything from gearing. . Axles.. interior.. looked like a factory svo mustang.. (I had a totaled donor car). Nothing like pulling up to a light in a car that sounded like your mama's Tempo. Just to destroy every car that that tried to look cool that challenged me. Loved that car. As a adult now.. it was a waste of money being I could have just bought a actual SVO mustang for a fraction of the cost. Glad I spent the time doing the conversion. Keep up the great content Rabbit.. my favorite channel.
Just want to say Rob your only five year's older than me. Stop saying your showing your age dont lol because i remember everything your saying i got older brothers your age and im right up there with you buddy. I remember the past exactly the same way. Oh wait unless we are trying to appeal to 20 year olds today then ya we are both old as hell. Love your videos thank you sir
I bought mine 2 years ago and love it I have a 92 5.0 5speed notch in deep Emerald green it's the Canadian version of the SSP car it's one of 3,215 in Canada
If Motortrend TV and Barrett Jackson were smart they would have Rabbit doing some of the auction broadcasting and interview segments. He’s now well known to the younger gen from VINwiki and of course now this excellent channel. Come on motortrend you have a knowledgeable personable guy here who has more passion in his pinky than some of the folks you’ve had on have in their whole body.
When my sister was getting ready to go off to college (about 100 miles from home), my dad talked a car dealership into letting him test drive a van for the weekend. He used it to move my sister into her dorm. He put about 250 miles on that van in 2 days and then brought it back to the dealership and said he wasn't interested in it. Real A-hole move.
@@Tyler67478 pretty much........i still got a 35mm camera pick of a beautiful triple black drop top 93 gt pushing 400whp that I detailed for a guy........i think I charged the guy 40-50 bucks and it took me an entire day to do........memories of 25+ years ago
My buddy has a 1971 Buick gsx with a 455 here in greenville that I’m trying to get him to take to cars in coffee. He lives in Devenger and has a bunch of spare 455’s too if you ever need a big block! Now we are working on a Formula 6.2L
I started off as a Chevy guy when I was a kid until I drove my first fox. I've had 5 of them since and looking at. Picking up another soon. I don't have any proof but "supposedly" people always put the 5" tachs in them because the factory tach was off by a few hundred rpm at the top of the range to keep from people from blowing up the engines.
Hey Rob...i was laughing so hard about the grocery trip test drive. Thats sounds like something my wife could do...great story but i like you trashing Fords at the end...Chevys rule! Lookin fwd to your Friday vid...peace n chickengrease!
Egged in IrMo!! Man I know ur local with a name drop like that, props pops! Just kidding, love the stories, keep em coming. We watch your videos everyday here in Fukkwood, NC. Come check out some old Chevies in Asheville sometime. U remember Monza? Cheers!
i had a family take a minivan for a test drive, wanted to go by themselves. got the van back, "its not for me" van was full of tree needles, they had used it to pick up a christmas tree.
I was in my mid 30s and I wanted a fox body to relive my first fast car experience as a young boy in my friends brothers fox. I test drove a clean fox and was not impressed. I guess 25 years later of driving newer cars really makes these cars seem slow to today’s standards (in stock form). Needless to say, I’m the proud owner of a clean 66 mustang because I couldn’t justify the almost double cost of a Fox now. I’ll always remember that first experience riding shotgun, but I’m way happy with my first gen stang now.
Got a 93 lx 28,000 orignal miles im 2nd owner my dad was orignal owner, did a pretty simple build upr suspension, narrowed rear end a little, cut stock wheel tubs brought em in put a band in stock tub looks factory, GOOD OLD TRICK FLOW HEADS ANF CAM PACKAGES, very popular xith those custom set of diamoe pistons, 1 big gun 300 on a fogger, sometimes we throy kitchen sink at it, 400 50/50 chance, i called monte smith years ago and said something wrong it aint runnin i told he said hit harder week later he actually cold me im just regular he said did it run i said yes sir told him the jet size i think he about fell on floor hes missed by alot
My uncle has one growing up and when I was 5 years old I said to him I want it when you are done with it but i was way to young and he needed the cash so he sold it. To this day he still feels bad about it. One day I’ll own my own 1991 red gt
My first mustang 2003....... Bought a 1990 LX notchback..... 47000 original miles on it......... I open the door and it smelled like it just came out of Fords plant.......... I bought it .......... Then later I put the GT40 aluminum head crate motor in it.......... And Rob I'm going to say I'm guilty too........I put one of them stupid monster tach in it🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
Those were bad to wheel hop and not hook up. Used to beat them regularly with a sbc. Comparable cars of course. More money =more speed. I guess the game is a lil different these days.
Josh M I’ve definitely seen 89‘s with airbags but according to Google images some had them and some didn’t. So I guess 88 was the last year without them and some 89’s.
