Subbed and want to thank you for doing content. It couldn’t come at a better time as I’m looking into getting VKBs, I’m left handed so it will be nice to have the proper controls. Very clean and thorough videos is refreshing.

Thanks for the Sub! I really love that you bought up the left and right hand. TM 16k has an right and left hand grip option in the box (yay they cared :D ); However, VKB wins in the custom choose you style option for the throttle. The Omni Throttle and Premium stick are wroth it. The VKB's and are considering them the new entry level sticks until TM and Logitech catch up. That said, the Gladiator NXT EVO for me feel anything BUT entry level. More of a premium price for the average person like myself (As a therapist I made 25-40k depending on the year). If I had not gone crazy and gotten virpil's I'd be using VKB and still feel they are premium (even though listing them as entry level). The only reason they are entry level is because VKB has the Gun Fighter series that THEY rate higher (I disagree, at least for SC). The tier goes : Logitech-TM-VKB Gladiator NXT Evo -Virpil, and 99% of time I recommend the VKB NXT EVO premium.

I wish you prefaced the video with some context. I definitely dont want a left hand joystick right hand mouse setup. Now I have to figure out how to put the profiles back the way they were on top of still needing to set the config for my joystick :p

I spent a year or so on these(dual) before I upgraded. You are going to need to spend some time on the acceleration curves and the esp if you want to fight, target acquisition will be very hard without tweaks. They are great for everything else, having a stick is also a massive advantage on ground vehicles, as keyboard users can't throttle cars at the moment. There are some good vids to help curvature settings for combat. Don't be too hard on the z axis, (twist) they are a bit delicate, and are known to degrade. If you end up wanting to use the slider for speed limiter, there isn't much you can do about the speed limiter going up too much with the smallest movement of the slider. If you use a slider for the throttle limit ( acceleration limit) you can use that for very gentle landings, rather than thrusting down you instead slowly reduce the thrusters power letting gravity do it's job, it give you more control on twitchy or heavy laden ships on the final descent, Saves you a bit of fuel too. The reason for this is that in the default flight mode (coupled) the thrusters are always working to steady your ship, effectively putting the breaks on all the time, so when you lower yourself you aren't just lessening the power to the bottom thrusters but also adding power to the top, so instead of floating down to the planet, you are thrusting down. Coupled mode actually uses quite a lot of fuel

Thank you for this, I have known about the thruster / acceleration control but found it was a bit too complicated to explain and easy to mess up, OH crap my are my controls not working?! However, you just gave the perfect reason to use it and how to use it. Love it.

@@SurvivorToHero for the most part the acceleration limit is for the G-safe system to use automatically. You notice on the bar you cant put the throttle limit all the way to the top? Turn g-safe off, you will gain access to full throttle power all the time. When im using cheaper sticks when im mining or doing some delicate flying i will often reduce my throttle limit to make the ship less twitchy in space and smoother to operate. You can still use the afterburner to get out of dodge or to emergency break. Another tip. If you fly in space decoupled for a bit, some ships with fuel scoops will fill the hydrogen meter because the ship is only using a few thrusters instead of all of them. Also you can set your forward speed in decoupled and just let your ship drift in that direction with no fuel use. When control surfaces come and ships with wings actually generate lift, decoupled flight will use little to no fuel as you are effectively gliding

The Z, X & Y axis only move my ship in one direction no matter which way I press the stick. What am I doing wrong? eg. Twisting the stick to the right should roll my ship to the right, and twisting to the left likewise should roll left. But the ship rolls to the right with both directions twisted. same with forward/back (only forward) and strafe left/right (only right)

You might kick your self, because there is no way you would have figured this out (if its the case). You might need to recalibrate the stick in windows. open up USB game controllers in control panel. and run the logitech recalibration. Another possibility is that the axis got assigned to to roll right or roll left instead of Roll, but given what you said it doesn't sound like it. I just uploaded the new Logi3d HoS, HoSaM, and HoSaS files. survivortohero.com/logi3d_tm-config/ Download those, put into the mapping dir (see readme.txt in zipfile) and then load the game. I made some videos showing how to do calibrate, copy , and install but I had an audio issue and will have to record. My goal is to have those done by end of weekend.

Would it be possible to program the movement i.e. the 8 directions of the "lever" to desired hotkeys etc.? A simple example would be: moving the joystick forwards equals pressing X key on a normal keyboard? If that's possible at all - would it be fast-paced as compared to pressing keys on a keyboard (more or less?) Not specifically for Star Citizen. Thanks for the review.

Well that's kind of how it works if you were to use some form of macro. Pressing x is digital press that says go 100% toward the speed limiter. Like if driving a car pressing resume cruise control does. The throttle forward eg GO keeps registering until at the speed limit. In contrast, When you move the joystick forward you push the x-axis 0 towards 50. It's like easing forward on the gas petal you can move back and forth, and the game takes this as an analogue input and simply ease up the intensity of pressing X down.

Thank you for the comment and point it out. For the not working part, There is a Logitech link, that might help with software if the windows calibration game controller tool isn't working. yeah literally none of the profiles from the video are titled the same as the downloads you direct to, a lil annoying ive spent 20 mins just on the 1st 2 minutes of the video because of that On top of you say something about having already loaded a 2nd profile as well but that didnt happen yet in the video.. :/ Now at the part actually applying the controls and Im lost as to why youre using the stick in your left hand with no explanation

Strange it must be remembering two sticks when I saved that profile. Could be 3.22 vs 3.18. But I’ll assume that it was me. I just finished the new 3.22 for the thrust master configs. But have not done w the video yet. I’ll update the Logitech config next and do a quick video of the new 322 settings for it

The 322 patches had really big updates that took me some time to find the right setup that would last. I ended up standardizing the Logi3D and TM16 setups to be pretty close to each other for a much more intuitive and modular approach. The TM16K downloads will be avail soon and the video to follow.

The Thrustmaster has different configurations but it’s similar. yes it does. First you have to disable Core isolation under settings>privacy & security > windows security> device security> core isolation details> Off. Will have to restart computer. Only now you will be able to install Logitech software to use with 3d pro stick

@@SurvivorToHero I used your video as reference until I hit the throttle forward/backwards rel. Lol had my ship full throttle. I ended up with a really nice layout. My trigger was my boost. top left countermeasures bottom left brake. Top right unlock target bottoms right target lock. The thumb joystick I used for shields max/missle count (mouse thumb is boost and weapons) all can be down while in combat smoothly. This does require me to unlock speed control each time entering the seat my ping and scan is base top left. Honestly watching the video helped a lot would of taken me a while to set multiple keybinds since turning shields max while making missle payload higher wouldn't of been something I would of considered right off the bat. Ty
