I haven't read all the other comments but that ship is actually the Stormrider from Strout. I think that the factions just buy or capture those ships, give them a new paintshop and name alongside some upgrades.
If you want to keep the general shape of the ship the same, you can manage to shoehorn two 2x2 habs, and about four 2x1 habs in if you remove the rear landing gear and replace them with side mounted ones. I stole one right away upon entering NG+ and managed to throw a 40 power reactor, 38 jump thrust grav drive, two of the top tier level 60 thrusters, some extra cargo space, and a full suite of weapons for about 200,000 credits. It's a great ship and is definitely slept on. With the upgraded thrusters I'm at 100 mobility.
I dont get why this ship isnt that popular, its a complete utter early game monster.. since it isnt level capped as the III ships are and its easily the best II tier in the game. This thing eats star eagle and such for lunch and razorleaf for breakfast. I got it level 25, im level 85, and its still kicking everythings ass, yes several mark 3 c class ships, no probs
That ship is one of Legendary weapons grinding room, because when you entrance the ship by hijack, near the docking room is armory, may randomly spawn weapons on box and display, sometime it may spawn legendary weapons......
Another point to consider when taking over ships that arent in ship vendors is to go through them thoroughly. Check all storage sometimes they can have contraband laying around in a storage. Its a bit unnecessary risking a bounty just for a small amount of contraband.
Also, the amount of contraband will depend on the ship class. A class will often only have 1 or 2, but I got 4 from a B class once and found 5 on a C class before I could fly them.
I had it earlier today where contraband was half embedded into the pilots seat. Took me 30 mins to find as everytime I’d go to new Atlantis it would ping me for having contraband. But it makes the ships even more valuable as not only do you get a free ship you also get extra moneys
The Fermi system I have now found also spawn quite a number of Varuun ship and enemies. I come to know that just setting up a few Outpost in system. But maybe it was just my luck as well. Anyway, throughly sweep your ships for contraband when stolen from the enemy. If the ship has a medical bay where the pirates are usually harvesting organs, it’s a good chance you find contraband there and especially if you didn’t find any in cockpit area. Something also I weirdly noticed by happenstance is that while I had contraband in my player inventory, I was attempting to make a long jump back to Jemison to land at the Lodge. The game wouldn’t seemingly let me. I thought 🤔.. weird! Then I noticed, all the normal landing spots for Jemison were all light grayed out, instead of being black text on white background, hmm that’s weird too. It then dawned on me, wait a min, that must be due to me having contraband. As you just can’t do a fast travel and bypass planetary scan if you have contraband doing a fast travel jump. So, I set course to the Den to sell all the contraband first and change re-sweep two other ships I had stolen in last hour of session. So if you have contraband and trying to land on security planet you landed before, the landing beacon will seem a bit grayed out.
Most Varun ships are kind of ugly to me, but this one got style haha I like the vibe 😊 It might be my next ship. I tend to favorise slightly smaller ships in general 😮
Your first room was an all in 1 berth, the second was living quarters. Living quarters are usually only 1 bed (if that) and no galley while berths have more beds and usually a bathroom. On the lower deck behind the infirmary was another all in 1 berth. I've also noticed that I've been able to edit ships with stuff stored in racks in the armory and not have it moved. Maybe if you moved that room itself it would be a problem, but swapping engines, reactors, or any other module seems fine. Still probably good practice to save before editing and checking the results afterward in case it puts a door or ladder where you don't want it. I do like the size of the Stroud Ekland bridge and it looks good from the outside, but don't like the view from the pilots seat. I do all my flying from that view and find it's too restricting. It needs an upper set of windows to open it up a bit. It's also weird that they don't have an actual control console in front of those side seats. You're just sitting there looking at a wall with displays on it and probably have to stand up to interact with any of them. One thing I was surprised about was the speed. In theory all class C engines have a top speed of 130 and that's what it shows in the ship builder and yet this one is faster and I've seen other class A's that will do up to 190 while the ship builder says the max is 150. (it's not the 3015's) I guess the engine class isn't an absolute limit. (or it's a bug) Anyways, thanks for the tour, I've been curious about these ships.
Living quarters usually have at least 2 beds, a galley, and a bathroom. If your living quarters habs don’t, it’s because of where doors, windows, or ladders have been placed.
@@BoJangles42 It varies by manufacturer. Taiyo and Hopetech have a single bed, (the top bunk's not usable) and a galley but no bathroom. Nova galactic has 2 beds and a bathroom, but no galley. Stroud Ekland has a bed and a galley but no bathroom. Deimos has just a galley and no bed or bathroom. @@CrimsonFlyboy yeah I had bought one last NG play through, really nice ship. I was hoping to catch a wild one for free this time. I've only bought one ship this playthrough I believe. And of course after I bought the ship I found one empty just sitting on a planet the next day.
