Stargate: SG1 - Something of the Host Survives 

In ancient Egypt, Apophis was considered the devil. This dude spent thousands of years possessed by his culture's version of the devil. That's terrifying.

He was promised the last rites and being buried in Egypt after finally dying. Only to be brought back to that exact same nightmare again when SGC was forced to relinquish the body to Sokar.

Daniel offered the man comfort and respect, seeing the man through the monster who took his wife, and was the face of the enemy. His face, voice, hands, and eyes commanding death, slavery, assault and servitude, for countless numbers, potentially predating history as we know it... and Daniel saw one of the first victims of Apophis. He offered him not rage or vengeance, but kindness and comfort. respect.

Iconic scene. This human host had experienced a real hell for thousands of years.

This is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in any sci fi show I’ve watched. A life destroyed laid bare. Eons of torture for the soul only to wake and die.

This is where Daniel got the title of angel because he could say such beautiful things to help people understand the truth but be at ease with the knowledge of the truth.

I just love how you can immediately tell the difference between actual Ancient Egyptian and the gibberish that the Goa'Uld "language" is. For this scene, Michael Shanks got a script with the actual language (funnily, Peter Williams did not and also made up his words), while for the rest of the show, the writers just created random words for any conversations that had Goa'Uld speech in it (which was supposed to be roughly based on Ancient Egyptian, yet ended up becoming a mess).

Something of the host survives enough to know peace. That must also be a huge relief to Daniel after Sha're was taken. She will remember Daniel in her dying moments, even if Daniel is long gone.

You can tell Jack is conflicted. Nice acting by Richard Dean Anderson.

This breaks my heart. Agh. You hate Apophis since the beginning... but I and you probably as the viewers forgot the host who suffers at the Goa’ulds expense.. :’(

The sheer will, to exist in that state for thousands of years, and survive. Truly incredible.

The guy who played Apophis did an amazing job playing these two parts.

This is when you realise behind every Goa'uld is a host trapped in a never ending nightmare. I'm pretty sure at some point on top of having their selfs surpressed by the overwhelming parasite influence that they can also cause the host to feel terrible pain to keep them fully subserviant(since very strong willed hosts can sometimes slightly resist their control)

They should have just extract Apophis from the host and chuck him back. No need to force the host to relive the nightmare

Such a sad heartbreaking scene. It wasn't often in Stargate that hosts were freed from Goa'uld control like this. It never really went into any backstory of the suffering a host endured whilst under Goa'uld control either, certainly not like this anyway.

Apophist host was truly a tragic character.

When they show the computer screen, with the skull x-ray, it looks a lot like the skull x-ray, from the TV show, the Incredible Hulk. With Bill Bixby, 1970s.

Wait a second...why didn't they (Stargate Command) simply extract the symbiote from the human host body and send *it* to Sokar?

Didn't they send Apophis back thru the stargate to one of the system lords ?

I wonder since apophis was worshiped in Egyptian religion did his host gave himself willingly to apophis only to regret it later after all the things he had seen apophis done to realize he was nothing more but a false god.
