Hi everyone 🧡 Caroline here! I am just reading through the comments this morning and want to say a few things. First, I really appreciate everyone trying to bolster me through the negative commentary. After sitting with this alone for the past few weeks, it does feel nice to hear other voices. Thank you for the words of encouragement. It also opens up an entirely separate conversation that I think has been on my mind a lot, and that I particularly struggle with. The idea of the binary good/bad. Either "I am good" OR "I am bad". It's flawed thinking when it comes to human beings, but it's a binary I get caught in. It's a conversation for another day, but I bet a lot of people relate, so maybe we can dive into it another episode.

Fuck that the ‘how I found love’ video was the bomb! It was absolutely awesome

Caroline, those two videos about you finding love are a masterpiece and I really hope someone will make a movie based on your stories. The story about you and Roomba is my favorite love story of all time, no beasts, no twists, but the twists of emotion and perception, ingenious, yet not a fiction, breathtaking, love love love! By the way, Jess and you both are such extraordinary story tellers!

I sincerely don't understand the overshare comment - it implies you need to be together forever. Love can be beautiful and intimate and shared and then over... and still meaningful and worthy of being discussed. Love doesn't have to be forever to be real.

Those hate threads are horrible. (I haven’t stumbled across yours, just in general). The stuff people say and do… it blows my mind. The level of projection, the lack of empathy, the entitlement. It’s not you Caroline. It categorically is not you! Those videos were god tier RU-vid content! X

I loved those two "how I found love" videos. I found them HILARIOUS, even just the pointing with the retractable pointer (which I thought was some type of bizarre sex toy for the entire first video, and made it even funnier) kept cracking me up. I also loved the way you shared each experience, it was hilarious but still had nuggets of wisdom... and overall it was CLASSY! I liked that you didn't disparage any of the ex's and made it more about your journey through life and love. Your balance of personal sharing, humor, wisdom and curiosity is something I appreciate in all your videos and are qualities I am striving to achieve in my own life. ❤

I loved those comedic videos! This discussion was really interesting to me. I got divorced after twenty-five years and three kids, and we both wanted to be good parents, so obviously, you can't drop your co-parent from your life. Now it's been fourteen years, kids are grown up, and I think Caroline's "like a brother" description is very apt, because there's a lot of distance, but also an appreciation of a big part of my life. The other thing was that I got an annulment as a Catholic, which was so weird, because on the one hand they give you a forum to give your accounts, and we kind of had the same take on things, but then they just say, well, it was never "real," and ultimately, I decided that was maybe true on some spiritual level, but false on all other levels of life. We're both remarried, but sometimes I just think, just admit, we did our best, we made a mistake, and it's okay.

About Caroline's wall on her last video, those were my thoughts: "Wow that's such a creative trendsetting decor. If I were to try that I would look crazy, I wouldn't pull it off" 😂

Hot take: when you get a gift in a gift bag and you aren't sure if there are more things in there because of all the tissue paper but don't want to search around to see so as not to offend the giver like "oh this can't be all that's in here"

Honestly, Caroline, those people who wrote comments that had hurt your feelings... I just couldn't help but to think "these people did something absolutely stupid - just dumb". What a mistake to 1) NOT listen to what you had already said your intentions for the videos to be and 2) send an unkind opinion to the person who worked so hard on the video they chose to watch . I'm certain that none of these people would be people you'd actually want to be friends with. The internet is going to internet (and its often awful in ways that are completely uncalled for) so posting personal videos on the internet is extremely brave. I want to let you know that I see you as incredibly brave. And those videos are valuable. I find them valuable. Sometimes I feel like a train wreck and instead of spiraling in those feelings, I'm hit with a positive dose of reality from one of your videos. I'm convinced that even your most critiqued videos are, at the same time, a reminder of hope and friendship to others. Not everyone who finds value in these videos will write about it in the comments section. And I think those impressions go much, much deeper than anything negative. If people are bothered by something, that has to be a very surface feeling because... Well, there are bigger problems. But if someone feels thankful and inspired and feels like they can resonate with another's stories, that is deep impact. And I hope that speaks volumes to your heart when you look over the reactions of others. Also, when you state your intentions for a video's purpose - remember that there are people who do listen. Like me! And we respect what your thought process is behind it. 💛

Dear Caroline, I'm so sorry this hateful comments found their way to you. I too would be quite devastated reading bad stuff about myself. But who writes this comments in these forums? How much time do these people have? How little is going on in their life to find the time and effort to participate in this hate? I can't even find the time to comment the good stuff I always want to say when a creator posts a great video I liked! Please keep your elan, keep making videos you love, keep ruining your walls for us. We appreciate it! And screw those reviews of the flimsy cork. Liars! Just here to say I loved your video about your past relationships and finding love. I actually feel like we've been on a similar situation with being in a 4-5 year on and off relationship that was difficult and hard to leave, then enjoyed being single, and then finally finding love in the last year 🥹 I don't usually comment on videos often, but I loved it and want you to know. Definitely not an overshare. More like a funny video that also is relatable and encouraging.

Blowing up is such a double edged sword, isn't it? Even as a follower or viewer or fan or listener the feelings can be complicated when someone whose content or art you love is having their big moment. On the one hand you wish this person all the success in the world, but on the other hand you know that the distance between the person and their audience is going to get infinitely bigger. You have to protect yourself and your wellbeing, but that also means that the relationship to your following changes.

Hey Caroline! I loved the love videos (and all your videos tbh). I think it’s so funny that people complain that it’s an over share. It’s your life and RU-vid channel, you can share whatever you please. If they think it’s too much they don’t have to watch. It’s your art and I think a lot of people enjoyed it and got value from it. But the most important thing is that hopefully you got value from it. Maybe people who share comments complaining can go buy themselves a Hater hat 😊

My father-in-law is dyslexic and says “Valentimes”, “Arch - ee - tek (architect)”, and “psycho” instead of “psychic”. There are more I giant decal right now. I had to teach my husband to pronounce Valentines correctly. His little sister was also saying it like Pops. They grew up with their dad’s pronunciation because their mom’s first language isn’t English… Even though she says the words correctly 🙈.

I think it was very sweet video because I love real love, and I can tell you're genuinely happy and secure in the relationship. I think the reddit opinion came from someone who themselves are uncomfortable with vulnerability in life and love, or haven't experienced that type of relationship for themselves. Its impossible to have no negative reaction to what you do, especially if it's interesting. You can't or shouldn't be for everyone. First, your feelings are valid. Second, I think its incredibly brave to talk about your relationship the way you do, and of course entertaining. Third, please know you bring a lot of joy and laughter to many people with your work! Forth, fuck 'em.

I exclusively use unscented candles since I’m allergic to most scented candles. Whenever i tell problem this they’re like “what’s the point of an unscented candle?” I’m using candles for the cozy vibes guys not for the smell.

The mispronounced words are so interesting to me, especially some of the examples you two gave. There's actually a linguistic phenomenon, I wish I could remember the fancy word for it, but basically it's combining words in a way that results in the mispronunciation. So for "expresso", it's taking "espresso" and mixing it up with "express" because of the association with caffeine = energy = fast. For "laxadaisical", it's taking "lackadaisical" and combining it with "lax", as in "she has a really lax approach to her work".

I loved and commented on that finding love series, loved it.

An old boss of mine who also smart, and a mentor to me early in my career, would - on a daily basis - call her morning meal "breffix". To top it off, her religion honored certain holidays where they would fast, and she would regularly reference the meals when they would BREAK their FAST. It was infuriating and hilarious at the same time.

Reddit snark threads and similar platforms are a whole other world of toxicity. Most of the comments I’ve seen are either 1. hot takes that just reiterates that it’s not for everyone - they just didn’t get it, like Jess said you stated very clearly at the beginning of the video what it was, what more can you do for these kind of people? It’s like a bad date who you don’t need to impress. And 2. they are commenting on their impression of a stranger, you, that has nothing to do with you. I’ve seen people come up with whole narratives on an influencer based on facial expressions, of how her life might be falling apart, and skewing her words in the vlog to support that story. These people know nothing!

As a married woman who found her person after A LOT of searching, I LOVE seeing you happy with Justin. (I loved that video!) That feeling is the best and I wish it for everyone. How dare some bitter commenters out in the ether steal your joy. No such thing as oversharing in my book. Vulnerability is best, but yes, hard on the internet full of broken and lonely people.

Hi Caroline! Can only imagine how sucky it must be to share yourself online and to receive rude negative comments. It is indeed sharing a lot but in the best way. As some hopefully constructive criticism however, I would say that with that two part video the title was a bit confusing hearing now how you intended the video to land. It did not register with me that it was meant as standup and the title you originally had for it (which I understand and appreciate you didn´t want to steal from the other creator) made more click for me like ah yes this is what the video was about. Whereas sometimes your videos are more giving advice and there was a bit of that in this video, but the title implied to expect more of that in my opinion (it had a bit of a how to feel to me). Anyway, not to defend the rude negative comments. Keep doing you, you´re very much appreciated by a lot of us and unfortunately this kind of stuff comes with the territory of being more "famous", very understandable that it got you down but hoping you´ll see the positive comments more! For example all the time I get backlash at work for starting and leaving later than my coworkers do. (After my manager agreed obv, and I have a lot of tasks that I can do alone). I once read (or saw, I can't remember) an interview with an actress who said she doesn't read reviews. Whether someone thinks you did great or whether someone thinks you did poorly, it's just an opinion. I mean, you do the best you can.
