Demar was playing like one of the top players in the league before the trade and a lot of people thought not much separated them until Kawhi proved he could carry that team to the chip. Max has recency bias which is why he couldn't realize the post season, cements your place as one of the very very best players, not one regular season MVP.

Giannis needs to develop his game in the paint like Shaq and Amare did. No need to guard Durant on the perimeter let somebody else do it. All it will do is sap his energy. You can't guard the best player for 40 minutes and expect to be your best on offense too.

No Sorry the comparison between shaq and giannis seems legit for someone who doesnt know basketball. I am amazed how they constantly missed it and specially Max. How you dominate matter the most. Max constantly labels giannis as a big because of his size but this is so wrong. Being big in basket ball is mostly about your style of play which matches your position. Giannis is mediocre at best in the low post, his game back from the basket is below average, he is basically a" big" guard without a jump shot. That is why his dominance does not translate very well on the playoff. Shaq was way more skilled, specially with his back on the basket, very good footwork, but since he was so big people fail to highlight that. Without post moves it is difficult to attract double teams on the post and free the perimeter for the guards. SAS always refers to jump shot as the main limit of giannis which is not true, his main limit is his skill set in the low post. You can not be consider a big man if to be effective and dominant you need the ball only at the top of the key on the perimeter. He limites the effectiveness of his guards, which is why Middleton often looks better without him.
