People disrespect him because of his playoff record. No Losing seasons doesn’t mean much when you almost never even make it past the first round. He has 3 playoff wins in the last ten years. They were against the Adam Gase Dolphins, he had a win handed to him by Pac-Man Jones and Burfict, and the Alex Smith chiefs who never got past the Divisional. Dude is overrated. His last 3 playoff games have been blowouts. It’s time for him to go

A historical college team wants the best coach to coach their program . Maybe Carson Palmer and Ryan Clark didn't mention Reid Or Payton because they thought Tomlin was better. He's won 7 division titles since he became a head coach; in the same time frame, Reid has won six, Payton has won six. I wonder why you say he's "overrated?" Asking anyone about downward mobility in any industry is disrespectful, and in this case it’s especially bad because Tomlin is already tremendously underrepresented in the NFL as one of only two black head coaches. It’s just unfortunate that people are focusing more on the idea of him being disrespected and how it’s racist rather than what Carson intended to do, which was praise him for being a fantastic coach and then throw in some wishful thinking that he would come coach at his old school.

That's not even true. Recently, Pete Carroll had to address rumors about a potential return to coaching in college. Six weeks ago, he was asked about the USC HC vacancy, but there was no media coverage or care in the world about it. The white coaches get asked these questions regularly, and it's dishonest for Stephen A. to go up there and make it more than what it is.

Conversely, Tomlin is an old-school “rah-rah” type who has not evolved his coaching philosophy in years. That's the truth. Are we allowed to criticize Tomlin at all? He's great but stuck in the mud.

I can't say whether or not he has ever aspired to enter the executive suite, but it has never even been rumored to my recollection.
