Trey was hurt in preseason. Then, I filled in mid-season with a poor showing and was hurt again. Then, he was named the starting QB the following season and was done for the year. Then, he lost the starting position, too, Purdy & Sam Darnell. It was just bad luck and unfortunate circumstances. Best of luck to him, though, because the Jets could sure use him.
Steven talking about Wilson on the sideline laughing reminded me of when the Colts were stomping the Jets 45-17 in 2021 and Wilson was on the sideline laughing and cracking jokes. Wilson was injured so he wasn't playing but still his team was getting beat down and he looked like he was enjoying it.
@@fantasybeast7202 he has not produced this season. The only reason we beat the Bills is because the defense forced 4 turnovers and we had a walkoff punt return to win
@@chrisw1503 And yet those are hall of fame numbers for 1970s QBs. Most QBs in that era had really bad INT numbers because the DBs could openly maul the receivers. At the time of his retirement, Joe Namath was 10th all time in passing yards, was the first QB to throw for 4,000 yards in a season, and won a super bowl. But I think he got into the HoF mostly on his persona, which was pretty big in the 1970s.
@@VulcanLogic And Joe Namath didn't just win a Super Bowl. He won arguably the most pivotal Super Bowl in the history of the NFL. The Jets' victory over the Colts in Super Bowl III helped merge the AFL and the NFL. All 10 AFL teams (Kansas City, New England, Buffalo, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Miami, the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver, Las Vegas and the New York Jets) came into the NFL based on the AFL showing it was on the same level as the old NFL. It was also how Namath won it -- by guaranteeing the upstart Jets would beat a Colts team coached by Don Shula (the NFL's all-time winningest coach) despite the Jets being a 19.5-point underdog. In many respects, that victory also put the Super Bowl on the map as a national sporting event. Some people don't understand the significance of Super Bowl III in NFL history and how it helped reshape the NFL.
@@michaeljohnson7945 I've seen that NFL film, and it was on a cathrode ray tube, black and white television in the early 80s. My point mainly was that QBs before the 1990s did not have 3:1 TD to INT ratios. Even Unitas and Tarkenton weren't remotely close to even a 2:1 ratio, and hall of famers like YA Tittle and Bobby Lane were also underwater, just like Namath. Bradshaw would be inducted in the 80s with 212 TDs and 210 picks on one of the best teams to ever be fielded. It was a different era.
The job of a oline is too protect qb and block and open lines for rb... the jets oline hasn't done that in 8 years that's why they keep going back in the draft high...
The jets gm should have released Wilson last off season when they had the chance and brought in a more competent back up like dalton or jameis. That’s where the big issue is.
@@thekingbradable the 49ers gave away lance pretty much. The jets doubled down on their mistake after they knew he couldnt play. There’s a big reason Wilson wouldn’t get any compensation even then.
A report came out awhile ago that this Zach Wilson agenda is the work of the front office not the coaching staff, leadership is legit holding the coaching staff hostage to “love” Zach
Heard it's Woody Johnson forcing Zack on them because of his friendship with the family. I also heard they didn't want to draft Wilson but Woody pushed it.
@@bighuncho5210it’s like Tua and the Dolphins during his first two years. They wanted him to be drafted and made successful. You will see the two options, either try what they want and extend your stay or get fired. Brian Flores didn’t want him and was ultimately let go due to that. They got lucky with Mike McDaniels. But the Jets are gonna be on Saleh’s head to make sure they get a return investment. But I think they need to build an O Line. That contributes to the problem
@@thewriter8762but Tua had talent. Their was a vision for his abilities. Seems like Zack Wilson is just a case of nepotism or cronyism. There is no victory at the end of this road.
When are we going to start looking at these scouts. Zach drafted 2nd overall, Purdy drafted last..........something is very wrong with the scouting in the NFL to make mistakes like that, and this happens all the time, first rounders don't pan out, and late picks ball out.
I really do believe Wilson is so bad they’d be better off running a wild cat and trying to hold teams under 10. They aren’t going to score with Wilson anyways and they’ll minimize/eliminate the possibility of turnovers giving teams short fields. Problem is the line is still garbage.
@@d.s5508 He holds the ball too long. The O-line holds up plenty of times and he just holds the ball and does nothing to make the play. Even in one of the highlights he just fell to the ground and wasn’t even touched on that play.
The difference is, Jamarcus Russell was WIDELY seen as an absurdly talented player. Zach Wilson, on the other hand, was a pick that a LOT of people thought was a stretch in the first place.
@og_mante5138 I agree... but that's not what I responding to. I was saying that Zach Wilson was a guy who was touted as having great arm talent similar to JaMarcus, plus mobility. It wasn't a "stretch" by most analysts at the time.
@@CharlieXFBA I would argue it was very mixed. I heard a lot of praise and a LOT of criticism saying the Jets must have someone there who knows something special because we just don’t see itS
@Smiththebat Well outside of certain prospects like an Elway, Manning, Luck, etc., most of these guys have mixed reviews. JaMarcus Russell had just as many detractors as Wilson from my recollection.
"Fans that buy the paraphernalia, and come to the games.." 🤔 They DO have to be excruciatingly painful to watch sober but, lol I think he meant to say "memorabilia" 😂😂 love Shannon
The Jets have no choice but to play Zack Wilson. They went all in on Rodgers, trades and spending money, they dont have anything to give up for a trade that wouldnt hurt them further. The hope is you can sign someone cheap or get a pity trade for an ok QB
The Jets are not going to win without Aaron Rodgers. Their division is brutal, the AFC is brutal, and there are no great QBs available. Might as well play Zach Wilson, and get a high draft pick in offseason
I absolutely hate the hate on Zach wilson. You know why the jets have sucked for so long? It’s the fans ability to turn on ur players faster than any other team and all it creates is negative stigma that effects the whole team. Show some loyalty and maybe things will change.
Things have definitely gotten haywire since the loss of Rodgers. They gave Wilson a shot and he just isn’t cutting it.Everything is just off. They need to do something sooner v.later.
I say this as a question: did they really give Wilson a shot? Because EVERYTHING this season was predicated to Aaron. The way this offense was supposed to run was through him. And now because he’s hurt, I don’t believe the offense plays to Wilson’s strengths, nor did it ever.
@@kdubbss0583 definitely agree on that. Also thought that Zach had picked up a few things having Rodgers as a mentor. Then it was cut short with the dang injury.Zach stepped up even though he was stepped on initially?Demoted if you will? And he handled that professionally. He has potential.Needs more experience and a stellar O line.
@@stevens26 compare Zach’s stats between Jamarcus Russell and even Sam darnolds time with the jets and Sam had no targets no run game no line no defense and Adam gase , Zach Wilson is historically terrible
Why would Wentz want to be behind that offensive line. I don't think he would want to. It's going to be hard for any veteran QB to want to behind that turnstile
Shannon the fans take their teams more seriously than the actual owners . It hurts us just as much especially the fans that have been here since we were little kids.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the Jets have scored 3 touchdowns in 3 games. That is absolutely attrocious, especially for a team that was supposed to be so elite. How did they go from this elite team to this bottom-feeder, lucky to get another win team, just because the starting qb went down and the backup is the number 2 overall pick. That means the quarterback is a problem, Zach Wilson is a problem. I think this game against the Chiefs will be the last time we see Zach Wilson in a Jets uniform, or best case scenario, last time on the field.
i just watched zach's college highlights i see why the jets grabbed him but im curios did Gunner Romney his college Receiver get drafted or dax milne his roomate/receiver give him a couple of guys hes use to throwing too cant get any worst at this point
There is a huge difference between JaMarcus Russell and Zach Wilson!! Jamarcus was supposed to be transcendent!!! Zach Wilson was a question mark To just about everyone other than the Jets
True but there were still a ton of "analysts" who were marveling at his talent and thought he would develop into an elite qb, Simms, Jeremiah, Romo and others.
That’s what I’m saying. How many quarterbacks throughout this league has been ruined because of bad lines and bad coaching. Get him a line and see what he can do
O-Line SHOULD be better and he needs to make QUICKER DECISIONS, he looks better with an open field, HE NEEDS TO RUN, he had different occasions to run straight out the pocket, HE CHANCES TO PUSH NE to fallback a bit, instead of a constant constant constant PRESSURE
I agree… I think it’s unfortunate because the Jets have done NOTHING to help in his development as a player. Even watching last year, the Jets offense doesn’t tailor to his strengths because they have done anything to know his strengths.
