How to get set up with SHOUTcast and how to use the ReaCast plugin in REAPER to broadcast audio from your session to the internet.
The ReaCast plugin is included with REAPER since version 5.50.
ReaCast connects to the SHOUTcast server to broadcast your audio over the internet.
Some uses: Radio station; podcasting; virtual attended mix sessions; live event streaming

Looks like there's no longer a high quality free server available. It's about the same price as AudioMovers ListenTo, except that has password protection. Plus the multi-second latency kinda kills it :( Thanks anyway, man!

Justin (creator of Reaper) mentioned that the ReaCast plugin would be a good fit in the Monitor FX chain, since that would enable you to switch between projects and project tabs. Quite handy.

Is it suitable to use reacast to local host to reduce latency from reaper to obs? All internal like, no internet. I want to downsample so I can use vst without adding massive latency

yeah got the same problem. found rocket streaming audio server though. www.rocketbroadcaster.com/streaming-audio-server/docs/configuration/basic-setup.html but seems like you need your own website. requires some additional steps hence.

Nice detective work! What audio format does the streamed file need to be? Can you stream .WAV? 16-bit? 24-bit?

Hi. You're playing a pre-recorded track in the video - but can this be used to stream a track that is being recorded simultaneously? I.E. can I stream what I am recording as I am recording it, like a live broadcast?

Yes it's live, if you have the plugin on the master everything that goes through the master will be sent 'to air'. If it's on the track only that track will go out.

I assumed it was something else. Because it isn't - is there a modern way to set REAPER up as a virtual mic input? i.e. talk in videogames, skype, etc with all your REAPER effects being live added on to your voice.

On windows you can use ReaRoute www.soundonsound.com/techniques/route-master On OSX/macOS you can use something like SoundFlower or Jack. Nothing beats running a couple cables to keep things simple.

Dang. Shoutcast only. Oh well. I need a way to stream video (of my screen, perhaps with a webcam inset) plus audio, without switching Reaper over to WASAPI mode. Apparently the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (and under) don't have loopback functionality. Something I didn't realize when buying it. I assumed that, since my on-motherboard audio could do loopback, that any quality external audio interface would be able to as well.

yea for video OBS is the way to go. You could try taking a cable out of the interface and into the built-in audio device.

If you have some spare time, you should search the forums (forum.cockos.com) and see if anyone has made a feature request for that. If so, you could bump the topic. If not, you could create a new thread for it.

The topic is bumped from time to time. This is a desired feature since 2007 (if I'm not mistaken, that's the year of the first thread). With no result, however.

The REAPER Blog yes, after initially seeing connection error, I filled in the other fields with random words. I still got the connection error. This may be worth noting - if I put "" in front of master.shoutcast.com it appears to connect, but the broswer end never sees it. Does that make sense?

Is there any possibility to use Icecast details with Reacast, or it is Shoutcast only? If the latter, has there been any discussion of Icecast becoming an option in the future?

anyways to do this locally, like the Web Interface/RC but ONLY on the localhost, for playback on non-essential devices around your network? there's almost zero info for using reastream locally.

@@GustDelgado no. It seems like it's not free anymore. I tried to download the local server, but the setup suddenly became a bit much so I temporarily paused the project
