Chair aerobics provides a way for older adults to move without putting too much strain on their bodies. Chair exercises are perfect for those with limited mobility or balance issues. The movements increase blood circulation and flexibility. They lubricate the joints and strengthen individual muscles.
The ability to perform daily physical activities increases and dangerous falls decrease. Here’s a chair aerobics workout for seniors, to be performed sitting in a sturdy, straight-backed chair with feet firmly planted on the ground.
Stronger Seniors® is a chair exercise workout program designed to increase strength, balance, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance in older adults. Workouts can be done seated, or standing, or both. The World Health Organization and the National Institute on Aging recommend 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise for older adults.
