When Mr Game&Watch is turning direction will holding a crate, a barrel or an hammer(not sure about the fireworks launcher) he'll make a smooth 3d-looking animation effect instead of directly flipping.
Hikaru Midorikawa indeed has a wonderful voice. I wish they had left "let's dance" in. Always thought it was weird how they didn't dub Marth and Roy, either but still took out Falco and Mewtwo clips...
AntChodeny "No because Marth hasn't been in a Fire Emblem since the first game." Yet "Shadow Dragon" exists, as goldensonic [the person you replied to] pointed out. Shadow Dragon was an ENGLISH remake of the first Fire Emblem game. And Marth was the main protagonist. So he has been shown speaking english [granted it was only text]. Also Ike's 2 games, "Path of Radiance" and "Radiant Dawn" had fully voice acted cutscenes. He already had an english voice so there was no reason for him not to speak english. GoldenSonic64 I think it's already been proven that he doesn't speak english. I can't remember the tournament very well but they had Marth playable and I believe he still spoke Japanese.
3:30 dk sounded nice. In Brawl, Diddy sounded terrifying. Good god his chirps and screams when he’d attack had me shaking. They were aggressive. Not just aggressive, but “nasty.”
The Fountain of Dreams theme was also featured in Kirby Triple Deluxe. Triple Deluxe also featured the "dodge roll" and "air dodge" abilities from Smash Bros. Not to mention, Kirby's Epic Yarn also featured many reused voice clips from Smash Brothers, making Mario vs. Donkey Kong not the only game to do so.
3:33 Something I always thought was really interesting. Phillip Bartlett, the voice actor who gave our Mewtwo that phenomenally angry yet tragic, perfectly fitting, iconic voice in Pokemon: The First Movie; passed away in 2001. The same year Melee released. Intentional or not, how fitting is it that our Mewtwo should be silent the year his voice died?
The reason why Marths and Roys lines were not translated is because they were supposed to be japan exclusive. Only at the last second they desided to keep them in, leaving no time to record and implement new lines.
ZigTheHunter Roy was planned for Brawl, but they ran out of time. All of his data is in Brawls code, but unfinished. It was how he was put in Project M, he just had to be finished.
shadowfaxs1 Neh.. what bothers people is that it just sucks.. whether Jennifer's voice sounds exactly like Jessica or not.. 1. I did notice a bit more devotion and 2. Retro did the right choice by not including it.
3:00 there's a kirby game where you can get the "smash" power that let's you use the rock, sword, fighter and others powers of the kirby in SSB, just doing the same combos.
Same here. Other than maybe the first few notes, I hear absolutely NOTHING of Melee's theme in it. They're massively different, so how could they have taken inspiration from it?
***** Even so, removed. Mewtwo for Lucario is self explanatory. The way the saved Data seemed, they wanted to bring back most if not all Melee Characters, but Dr. Mario is Mario, Pichu is Pikachu and Roy is Marth, who Ultimately survived his purpose, But hey, they didn't announce everyone yet. Maybe they'll bring him back, as another ad for Fire Emblem 14. lol
ChrisLandEverything Yeah but Ike is also Marth, Ganondorf is Captain Falcon, Toon Link is Link. Ike was added because he was also an advertisement for his own game, and is returning to Smash 4 with his Radiant Dawn look despite that being years old now. Toon Link is still coming back despite being a shorter clone of Link, and while Ganondorf hasn't been announced yet, it's likely that they haven't announced characters that you'll have to unlock. So who knows who all we'll be getting in this latest installment, it already seems like a huge roster.
***** So if not for that would they not be in Project M? And here I thought they were skillful enough to make full fledged characters from scratch. Rukifellth The Shadow Ike is hardly even close to Marth. Yeah sure Ganondorf is Captain Falcon but he is his own character unlike Dr Mario who is literally just Mario in a Doctors outfit. Yeah I can somewhat agree with toon link. Advertisement or not Ike has had a main role in a fire emblem game more often than Roy has so his value to the series is much higher.
***** I don't know about Roy, I know they made Mewtwo from scratch. to quote SiLeNTDo0m "one of our lead animators spend approximately 700 hours creating Mewtwo's animations."
Rukifellth The Shadow I'm sorry, what, did you just call Ike a Marth clone? "But Ike is also Marth" You have to be the most special person in the world to not see their differences, the only thing they share is a game series.
Awesome as always DYK. Mr.Game & Watch being 3d was all kinds of mind fuckery. In regards to the unused Jennifer Hale voice clip, the PAL version of Metroid Prime also had an opening narration by a guy named Jay Ward, which didn't appear in any other version. Mr.Ward was brought back for the two Metroid songs in Brawl that have that narration at the beginning. He is also the English voice actor for Wolf and Meta Knight.
Great Cave Offensive Rest Area is one of my favorite video game tracks. It is very catchy but relaxing. It's used in "safe haven" areas, which is very fitting. The GCO and All-Star-Mode are both very hectic and slightly stressful situations, but still very fun.
Don't know if you'll see this but I want to say to Yungtown: You have the PERFECT voice for this. You have the type of voice I enjoy listening to and your delivery as far as narration goes is spot on for this type of "trivia and history" type of show. You do amazing work sir.
He was right how the Japanese goes over NA/EU gamers' heads. Iv always wanted to know what the hell marth was saying....also I'd like to know since marth and Ike are from FE, why does Ike speak fluent English and marth doesn't? (Sorry I'm not a fire emblem fan :B I never played any of the games)
Thank you for making a amazing channel on RU-vid, I really Feel Smarter By knowing more facts about gaming, and feels really good to know some facts about the games i use to play that i did not know! Thank you!!!
Ducks are a more superior race than humans. Look at me I'm a mixture of 3 animal-based Pokémon, if I were a duck then I wouldn't need 3 animals to be at the same level as a duck.
I'm pretty sure it's 'everyone' I'm not Japanese expert, but out of my many years of being an otaku I noticed that whenever someone says 'mina' they say everyone. Also, that big titted weaboo whose name escapes me always says "mina-san' at the beginning of her videos. Again, I could be wrong. I just didn't hear 'senpai'
Robert Kelly It's just cliche at this point. Doesn't help that Roy's voice in Japanese sounds like every other hot-blooded teenage hero in Anime and Tokusatsu.
-Why was my comment deleted? I linked to the music and said I didn't think it sounded like the Melee theme...- Nevermind, it was restored. Nothing to see here, folks!
ViKing Games NOTE: I am not a music expert, so you'll have to excuse me if I use the wrong word for something. There is more to music than just how long to hold a note and seven tones (eight if you live in Germany). For example, the piano has 88 keys, if I'm not mistaken, but there are only 7 notes (A, B, C, D, E, F, and G) or, if you count sharps and flats, 12 notes. There are several C keys on the piano. One C is at a different octave than another C. Furthermore, a guitar can play a multitude of the same notes as a piano, but a guitar is obviously made different, so it sounds like a guitar and not a piano. It should also be noted that one instrument may not be in the same key as another instrument, causing one note (such as a B flat) to be a completely different note. There are also different tempos. To play a song twice as fast, you need to double the tempo. A half note at 60 beats per minute is held just as long as a whole note at 120 beats per minute. If the tempo is multiplied by an odd fraction (such as 3/7 or 8/3), one might not notice it is the same song save the tempo. The synthesizer (you can look up what synthesizers are) they used for 64-bit Nintendo 64 is completed different from the synthesizer they used for the 6th Generation GameCube game. They made the dark and eery music sound majestic and triumphant. They changed quite a number of things about the "Bowser In Dark World" song, and it may sound greatly different, but if one listens closely, a lot of the ideas from that composition are left unchanged.
There was a similar event in Brawl and Kirby Superstar Ultra which came after, Dedede's congradulations screen in Allstar Mode is him sitting at Eldin Bridge staring at the sunset, possibly foreshadowing the ending the of one of the new modes in Kirby Superstar Ultra where Dedede walks with the sunset.
You had a little Fire Emblem trivia in this video. I'd kinda like to see more. Like maybe you guys should make a whole video for Fire Emblem trivia or something.
I just love the rest area music in melee. The remake is just gives you such a warm peaceful feeling inside. More games need that theme song. 2:47 yeah it kind of sucks that not all of them made it out. I really wanted to play heroes of light and shadow on DS. 4:56 I keep having a friend argue with me that Marth will stay japanese in the next smash because he doesn't have an english voice actor and that shadow dragon is a stupid reason for him to suddenly start speaking english. What do you guys think? I think he will be speaking english this time around but what about the rest of you?
They could use the voice actor he voiced him in the Fire Emblem anime, apparently the guy who voiced him in the English dub also did the voice of an Awakening character
***** I'll reserve final judgment for when the full game is out. It could be a placeholder. Of course chances are it probably isn't either but none the less I'm still not ruling anything out.
I remember when I first found out about G&W being 3D. There's a code using game shark where you can swap different character's movesets. This works about as well as you'd expect (almost everything crashes), but surprisingly enough, if you give G&W certain other character movesets (I used Mario, I think), you can see his 3D model clear as day. It's actually sorta creepy....
The Japanese translation for Falco at 4:07 is incorrect. He's actually saying "Enemy Aircraft Down" and also the little Japanese thing at the bottom is completely wrong. That's not it at all. The correct Kanji is "敵機撃墜" I know this is completely late and isn't gonna do anything but I just wanted to let you know. I'm half native Japanese so I can see what you were trying to say here.
Future Gohan New Mystery of the Emblem, or Fire Emblem 3, was remade after Shadow Dragon. People consider Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem's remakes to be "FE11" and "FE12", making Awakening "FE13."
You forgot to mention one thing. If you change Melee to Japanese then go to the character select screen, certain characters will have their names changed to their Japanese names. Bowser will be Koopa and Jigglypuff is Purin. The best part is that the english announcer will attempt to say these names in a Japanese accent. So flawless.
***** I didn't play online anyway, I can't stand the lag and it was pretty hard to find people... being in europe. ***** Someone made it work on hackless too... I read it on the subreddit, just search around, you may find it, if you're interested that is.
***** You can still play netplay which has always been more stable than wifi anyway, and with the creation of matchmaking websites finding other players is easy.
The strategy to include Roy in Melee worked really well, considering that Sword of Seals (or Fuuin no Tsurugi in Japan) went on to be the best selling Fire Emblem game of all until Fire Emblem Awakening.
Also, final smashes were also planned for Melee, like unused dialog for C. Falcon was found saying, "Come on!" and "Blue Falcon!" There were time constraints, so they weren't added until Brawl.
+Name. That's it. "This was to promote the upcoming sixth Fire Emblem game in Japan." Yeah, something tells me even then, he wasn't out yet. Honestly go back and listen to the video before jumping the gun.
A neat little art design fact I found: Despite what people say on the internet, Samus's power suit design in Brawl is not modeled after her Super Metroid appearance, but it is actually based off her Zero Mission appearance.
I feel that the menu (both of them) sound a bit like the theme that was playing when you were talking about hell valley sky tree's. I'm pretty proud of myself for coming up with that myself!
I THINK WE ALL WANT TO KNOW!!! 3DS version is being released this summer (if it isn't delayed like most of the Nintendo titles that have come out recently), and the WiiU version is being released this winter
The 3ds visuals look kinda bad, but its the low lame limitations of the system, if you want to make a game for both a crazy good graphical system (the Wii U), and a mid graphical system-the graphics are effected, as well as how much you can put into the game, since the 3DS is so small in....well....just about everything expect the size... If you want to get mad at me go ahead.
But Falco when he wins in Japanese says "Teki wa gekitsui!" which means "Enemy Shot Down!" rather than "with time to spare"... just saying... How do i know that? Because in most mecha or military anime they say this when they shot down an enemy aircraft or mech.
My friends always ragged on me how Marth was feminine and wore a tiara, now if they see this they will poke at his translations too. Let's Dance did make me laugh though.
Still it makes me wonder why it didn't get localised. I mean, when when it's already translated, and it surely would have sold. I played the game in idiomatic German, so I suppose it's English translation should be just as good. Maybe that partly explains why Terranigma never got a really big thing. There could have been many games to be inspired by it, and I would have liked that. :/
If you pay attention to Mr. Game & Watch when he uses the Hammer, he actually rotates in full 3D if you switch the direction that you're facing. Despite this, I'm STILL surprised that he's actually a 3D model.
