Taking on a C7 rebuild after others have failed Part 1 of the basketcase Vette

I never thought I would see the day that I had a Vette on my channel but that day is here. This 2014 Corvette was hit in the left fender and suspension. It was taken apart 6 months ago by someone that no longer works on cars. Three other people started working on it after that and quit. The owner of the car came to me and asked if I could get it done since he has been without his summer car all summer. I said I would think about it. While working on a Vette is fun, trying to sort out a mess others created is not. But hey, I like a challenge, right? So here we are. More time will be spent figuring out where stuff goes and what I am missing than actually doing the work. It has been moved around and stuff has been lost and broken during the moves. Every part replaced is brand new so that is a nice change from all the used parts I normally get. No spot weld or rust here but we do have some parts to glue on!

@@vehcor You can't help that much, it's the way you look with your face at rest. When you mouthed off at Vette owner, your features hadn't settled into their adult form I guess. Now if you were a woman, you'd probably feel that you had to smile all the time. That would change things, but I'm not sure how, it would depend on how your smile meshed with your features. Thinking about it, the evening crew (your daughter) doesn't smile too much, but her features don't make her unapproachable. She does/did have a boyfriend, right?

Small world! While I enjoy seeing your GTO and your Parking Lot (Hmmmm...) it was easy to develop this fondness for SCOTT and his channel here. I find it great to follow someone with the 'ability to think" and that's him no matter what his build happens to be. HE is why I watch every minute of every video. I usually read most all of the comments and don't recall if I saw you comment but hey, so far there's 647 comments so I may have missed a couple. Anyway, click to his VIDEO page and have an interesting look. HINT (He likes Pontiacs too)! LATER! Sonny (CT)

I just went thru this with a 17 Grand Sport convertible. It WAS totalled, hit center front and left back quarter. Frame was bent, all the special grand sport coolers were wasted or missing, 4 bent wheels, motor mounts broken, rack and pinion broken, wire harnesses were all pinched/cut. It was a mess. Another shop bought it, found out they were in over their head, cobbled some new outer panels on it to make it look good in pictures, and sent it back to the auction. Be glad you didn't have to straighten the aluminum frame, that's a bad day at work.

Wow, now I know what it takes to put a fender on a car - a lot. Quite impressive. My rear quarter panel on my Saab 9-3 was hit from behind, and it took a month to get the parts and get it put back together. The hardest part was finding the parts since Saab shut down in 2011 and it was a 2006 (this happened in 2015). Could not find enough clamps for the bumper, so we reused one clamp from the old bumper and retrofitted to the new one like he did here.

Yes, * B U T * . . . . . . . That calibrated elbow torque wrench is WORTHLESS when you use the adjustable wrench wrong!!! Look at how the adjustable jaw is pulling *away* from the nut, as it gets tight. This is a huge pet peeve of mine, I know, and this video actually shows why using an adjustable wrench backwards is such a bad idea. Thank You! for another excellent video, and keep up the good work!! I have the utmost respect for a good body repair person, as they add true artistic ability on top of mechanical skill.
