Tanker Truck Driver Makes $60k-$80k A Year Home Everyday . Met a truck driver that works for airgas. This was a insightful interview about how much a local driver can make! Created by VideoShow:videoshowapp.co...
I can’t believe only $22.00 per hours as a gas tanker. I know people who do easy assembly work and makes $22.00 per hours already. They need to pay all you trucker more!
I watched this video 3 years ago and it inspired me to become hazmat driver. I’ve currently been driving 4 years, 2 years OTR 2 years local & making over 80k a year now home everyday & over 30$ & hour….. God is great! Thanks Asian Mai. Tanker gang!!!!
i've been Pinching penneys counting my dollars and preparing to get my CDL permit, already have 4+ years of Hazmat experience just another 4 years and i'll buy a truck with cash, run my own truck for a tanker buisness, i like the idea of doing Trucking but locally in state / intra state but always at least back in my home state, or not too far from home. my prior employment though about 32,000 a year with well over 70 hours a week technically full time working. for less than 32k a year. so anything is a pay raise or an upgrade in my eyes, less hours for same pay excellent, same hours for more pay excellent.
A note on tankers, their may be times u have to wear Chemical suit . It gets hot. Chemical tankers is a great way to make money. no weigh problem, no sliding tandems, truck and tank is only 12ft 6in high. The length of the truck and trailer is way shorter than the dry van so it's easy to back up into a tight spot at a truck stop or anywhere
Us Truckers all need to be paid by the hour whether you're over the road or local. The cents per mile is ridiculous. Because you can never know what you're going to make from week to week with bad weather breakdowns traffic getting stuck at a shipper or receiver Etc
Putting my life on the line for 60k a year hauling extremely dangerous chemicals if I get into a crash and the tanks ruptures. The whole zone gets evacuated and I get a slew of charges also my career is over no thankyou.
There's a local fuel tanker company in my area that starts new guys off at 32! But they have no open positions or trainers atm so I have to settle for a different company
Well I never made that kind of money OTR. Everyone says that his pay is trash. However go OTR with a mega carrier. After a few 70 hour weeks, and waiting for free! Bringing home $600or $800 a week if that. With $22 an hour for 40 hours and about $36.66 for 30 hours. That’s over $1900 a week. Yeah I would pick the “trash wage” and be home every night. better wages are out here sure. But I don’t know many trucking jobs that are only 40 hours a week. I am sure they exist, I just haven’t found one yet.
Thanks for the info!! Really wanted to know if being a tanker is what I wanted to do since u can be home daily..and with OT and great pay, I'm definitely going with this Route. Thank you again for the video!..
That's crazy I just got hired at airgas I'm in Ohio going to Houston for orientation for 4days headed out in April Asian Mai you a good dude I needed to get in contact with that airgas guy plus the wage has went up to 26.75 a hour .52 a mile that's what I'm offered with 000 experience in tanker none wish me luck great videos Mai keep them coming
Im not q truck driver r even a cdl holder but that's the pay that I was expecting tbh I wasnt really excited w/ the $22 hour bcuz I was expecting more like 25 r up now tbh I dont want to work 70hours a week I more so will work between 40-60a week so yeah 26.75 is great but it's a set goal that I want to reach and that's 1100 dollars for a 50hour week AFTER TAXES & I dont think that equals to 22hour.
oil-field tanker drivers $36.17 to start to make over $2,200.00 a week every week!! these are the companies you don't see advertising all word of mouth! & home every day!
My Dad has worked for airgas for 15 years class A CDL local driver. Those big flatbeds with Acetylene oxygen etc and just now makes 30 PH. Their corporate is AWFUL all over the country They will fire a driver that has been there a decade to protect management without blinking an eye. Not to mention the endless list of arbitrary rules that they will hang over your head 24/7. He is only there because he is afraid to lose his vacation time. Run from airgas FUCKING RUN
The company is clever for making the driver work 70 hrs to make what they should be making by 40-50 hauling nasty stuff. Because $22/hr. is quite easily surpassed in OTR. It’s all about that overtime. Goes to show there are many roads to a similar financial outcome in trucking.
In Cali the fuel tankers will hire and train you to pull tankers as long as you have 2 years of exp pulling a van. They pay 27 and up but you will most likely be working nights, weekends, and holidays. Pac west, and KAG are 2 companies here.
The Asian Mai Show i work for the United States postal service I make 25 in hr. Top pay $35 over the years.. is Double time after 8 hrs. each day. (federal job) I work 12 hrs everyday 6 days a week and I don’t make 80k don’t let ppl lie to you. I’ve been trucking for 20 years and amazes me how much truck drivers lie on how much they make. I make about 75k a year. With absolutely excellent benefits plus home everyday. My social life is just as important as my job is.. btw I’ve haul gasoline in a tanker truck in the past and there is no money to be make. Airgas is one of those companies I’ve been driving chemical/gasoline diesel fuel for last 12 years until I got hired with the post office. So truckers lie all the time about how much they make... go find out for yourselves I suggest. All these youtubers brag about how much they make but change jobs every 6 mo. And they start all over again with the lies.. stop pls. Including owner operators .. trucking is set up to make 40 to 80k a year depending what job and how much you work a year
Yeah it’s crazy how underpaid us hazmat tanker drivers are. Not to mention going OTR. You really have to set in your mind that you’ll be basically living in a truck for months in order to truly truly come up. But yet still, if you get paid more than 50k a year, your doing a lot better than more than half of Americans. Depending on your situation of course
One thing to remember is if you have some experience with trucks and trailers, you dont need to go to a mega carrier and pay thousands for a CDL. Theres plenty of one or two day CDL programs that teach you how to pass the test. Then skip OTR like I did and get on doing local tankers.
Great video. OT is very important when applying for a hourly position. Due to the number of hours drivers typically work many companies do not pay OT. Some pay OT over 40 and the top notch companies pay over 8. There is a difference in paying over 40 and 8 obviously. If this dude is working for a modest wage of $24 an hour and getting 60 hours a week he's making nearly $90k a year. Not bad since he's home every night.
Yeah, before when I was looking at a career in finance I realized the same thing. You get paid well, but you also work more than 40hrs a week. Sounded like 60hrs a week was the minimum to do well
Just a heads up, if working in Florida, anything over 10 hours in 1 day is considered overtime for that day, irregardless if you have passed 40 hours yet.
Well this is what Airgas website say not 2 years like the old guy said...1 year of verifiable driving experience in the past 4 years or driving school training. Graduation from an accredited truck driving school with diploma will count as 1 year of required experience No preventable accidents of any kind in the last 3 years No more than 2 minor tickets in the last 3 years No serious violation ticket (speeding 15+, reckless driving, etc.) in the last 3 years No suspensions of CDL in the last 3 years except for “Failure to pay child support” No DUI in the last 7 years
Anybody that works if they're making a 100k your either never home and your definitely working in a toxic , hazardous, high pressure risky and stressful environment.
@@FranciscoOrtizVevo Yeah, that’s how it was when I was looking for jobs in finance. White collar job, but you’re never home. You get paid well tho, not even going to lie. If you’re the type that doesn’t mind it then you’ll get paid for doing it. The girl I was listening to was getting paid well yearly, but when you broke it down she was never home. You gotta be a different breed. If you want the money then it’ll be there if you’re willing to put in the hours Don’t know about other white collar or blue collar jobs, but it definitely seems the same. Just gotta find a place that’ll allow you to work that much
75k should be the absolute minimum for haz-mat tankers. Keep in mind you have to have a federal security clearance for a job that is designated as safety-sensitive.
@@Str8Rippin93 TWIC and haz-mat have value. Don't sell yourself cheap. Do your research and don't take the first job that will agree to take you on if it looks like you have to compromise. Good luck.
I watched this 5 years ago and was inspired to get my CDL. Now down to the exact month of this video releasing I have a interview with Airgas coming up.
If he is hauling ammonia products for Airgas, he's with Airgas Specialty Products. The pay varies per region. Chicago top scale is right at 31.00/hr with union benefits. Florida about 20-25 per hr with no union, although Airgas benefits are pretty good compared to other companies.
I’ve been working for a chemical tanker company for 6 months and I started with no tanker experience I got trained at the company but I do have 30 + years of driving experience.
On the TV show "B.J. & the Bear"B.J.McKay said:"I'll haul anything/any where for a $1.50 per mile"!That was 30 years ago!I see ads for owner ops today, for that!Shipping rates need to double!
There's more money in LTL freight...$80k-$120k a year!with full benefits!here is the list..estes,ups,fedex,saia,old dominion..etc! As for me I work for estes
@@theopbeast4854 , you cant haul interstate or hazmat unless your'e 21 yrs old. It might be possible to haul tanker for company hauling liquid food product in local area but, first, I don't think many companies would hire 18yr old for tanker because they would have little experience and cannot go over state lines. Get experience in dry van first then you can think about transition to tanker.
Hello everybody I would like to have your opinions please. Do you think it might be appropriate to pull a 2-axle or 3-axle chemical tank with a cascadia 2015-2016 with the following characteristics: - Motor: DD13 of 470 HP - Transmission: 13-speed manual, - Differential ratio: 3.58 - Wheelbase: 228 ‘’ - Front axle: 12,000 lbs - Rear axles: 40,000 lb - Suspension: Air 40000 Thank you for your opinions.
That’s good money but you don’t have a life during the week. I know because I’m a truck driver and work 14 to 16 hours a day making 20 bucks an hour as a port driver not very fun other than driving the truck and shifting downshifting etc that the best part for me.
OK, let's all settle down now. If you work with a tanker/haz-mat CDL and you make what this guy says he's making, you don't know how to negotiate for an appropriate wage and you have nobody but yourself to blame.
Some good tips on this one but there are risks associated with transporting as well as working with hazmat, especially if you are sensitive to chemicals or have any respiratory condition. Schneider also hauls a lot of latex which some people are allergic to it. I would also say that if your one of those heavy foot drivers this job ain't for you because the danger from liquid surge is real and can lead to roll-overs and other accidents. Better to be more like the tortoise than the hare when it comes to tankers. The money is certainly better than many other gigs but if your career and quality of life is cut short because you were exposed to too many dangerous fumes while handling, because remember, you have to pump the stuff in and out the tank yourself, or from breathing those fumes while asleep inside the cab every night when away from home then...???? This guy seems to have a good gig though because he sleeps in his own bed at home every night and he looks like a big strong guy who can handle those pump hoses better than most.
Only thing that sucks about being a trucker is time. You get home eat shower watch some RU-vid or Netflix and it’s time for sleep and wake up for work the next day
Old Dominion pays over time after 60 hours. XPO in Jersey is 29.45 with O T after 8 hours. 100% touch freight though. Im used to that tho. Since my ccx days.
I made $24.50 per hour moving ice cream as a spotter!!!! All the benefits! Home on the weekend. No night work. Only problem? Company management sucked!!! It was so bad I had to leave. Playing mind games everyday is not healthy for me. But my point is; performing such a dangerous responsibility with Airgas and to recieve that pay is embarrassing.
Hello. I am Arvind from India. My dream is want to be a long haul truck driver in US but I don't have money to come US or making a driving licence. Please help😢
Here in Bay Area, no hazmat, local, $27 Dollar per hour plus over time. JB Hunt. But need to load and unload the truck. Any way, this video tell us, what is the around payment at Tanker Industries. Thank You so much, here is my like.
Been driving fuel tanker for 5,5 years now. Hazardous goods ain't much different than anything else. The thing hanging over your shoulder is the consequenses if something goes wrong. But if it does, you run like never before!
60-80K per year in the trucking world (14 hour clock) is really only 16.50 - 22.00 per hour even if you're hauling fuel or hot oil or some kind of chemical or tanker specific job. Now, in the non-trucking world you'll NEVER find a company that will work you 70 hours per week (30 of which would be overtime) to get that 60-80 K per year. There are no half-days and stuff like that. You're NOT going to see 25.00 per hour in any kind of trucking aside from dump truck which is seasonal. Even being payed by the load you can make the same amount. It is the nature of trucking that they want endless hours and sell the pay but not the hours you must commit. It's why trucking is desperate not for drivers but for automation or foreign truck. Truckers used to make bank. Now they work ridiculous hours and make a very modest salary compared non-CDL jobs. CDL just simply isn't worth it any longer - not to mention the schooling now required to get a CDL.
@@avenged06x I hear ya …. If you’re happy and providing for yourself and/or family you’re doing good. If the company treats you good too that’s all a person can hope for. Taking what you know and working toward a safety position at your company or a trainer could be an option but trucking isn’t a bad living. It just isn’t as good as it used to be. I’ll still be doing it for the same reasons you gave but I tell younger people to find a different line of work.
Reading some of these comments,I gotta say, some of you guys sound really bumbed about having to work hard to earn a good living. Sorry in advance if I'm wrong. Be safe out there truck drivas.
I need help to figure what division is best I only have 18 month local experience no otr Schneider next week I go but they have regional but ppl say tankers is where is at any advice bro please
@@dontblink572 $21 to start is okay money just because he has all the benefits and OT. Too much responsibility for $21 hauling DG The OT is what makes it worth it in my opinion
I wouldn't mind being a tanker driver! Id honestly rather avoid being otr. But I guess if I have to do otr i would. how would you recommend me getting started? I currently don't have a cdl. But always been interested in truck driving for about 10yrs now.
First get the Commercial Driver Handbook from your states motor vehicle dept. Read it cover to cover 2-3 times. The handbook explains all the requirements you will need to be a CMV driver, like age requirements, DOT health certificate ID you will need, background checks for Hazmat endorsement and TWIC card etc; (the charge for hazmat $86.50 TWIC $125.00). Download the free apps for the CMV practice tests( I got mine from Play Store on my Android phone) and take them over and over. When you can consistently score 90% or more go to the DMV pay the fees, and take the tests. I studied for a month before taking my tests and passed all 6 with a score over 90% but you only need 80% to pass in my state (Calif). I passed these written tests....General knowledge, Double and Triples, Air Brakes, Hazmat, Tankers and combination vehicle test. They have others if you want to drive a bus or be a fireman which I didn't take. If you want to drive tankers I recommend the Doubles and triples endorsement as well but for sure get the tanker and hazmat. There was no extra charge for these, just had to pass the written and undergo a Federal background check and finger printing (this was done offsite, check www.TSA.gov for list authorized TSA locations). The DMV charged me $86.50 for the CLP (commercial learners permit) which they issued on the spot after I took and passed the written tests which took about 2hrs. They also give you the eye test and take your picture. After you get your CLP you can find a truck driving school. If your'e short on money, some of the big mega carriers (truck companies) will put you through training and if hired on will deduct it from your pay over time. Best of luck to you and all wanna be mother truckers out there.
Airgas is wack lol -- FDS home every night 2-3 days off a week OT after 8, $29 an hour 11-14 hrs a day - NO tanker experience necessary, just tanker and hazmat endorsements. Guys are making 80- 100k a year as fairly new 1 year only drivers
