I was on my computer yesterday and woke up with a sore neck and headache this morning. I have just done your exercise and have immediately found relief. I did find it difficult not to engage my stomach. Closing your eyes has a medative effect and was very relaxing listing to your voice 👍

Dear Taro, I tried this exercise and to my surprise, the recurring pain in my right eye, temple and back of my ear just disappeared. And I haven't felt the pain for several days now. Thank you very much and God bless.

When lying down I found my sternum was almost locked into place. I definitely couldn't move it upwards with any force but then I remembered to try very small movements. Small movements were possible and I felt my upper back and head moving ever so slightly. I have included this movement in my yoga practice and now have a better range of movement in my upper back. After the first two times I had some pain the next day and I'm guessing I was moving some parts of my spine that had not been moved for a very long time. I need to remind myself that small, slow movements are the way to go. Thanks Taro for this lesson.

Hi Taro. Thank you so much. I am not having headache but usually feel tension in the connection between my sculp and neck After doing the movement several times I felt the release Also during practice , I find that I am using my cor , using my shoulders and contracting my sculp more to my neck until I watched you several times to get how to move correctly then I felt the release. Lots of thanks for your clear instructions ❤❤

I found this quite difficult- I’ll try it again. It must have worked a little as when I slumped a little, my chest felt ‘wrong’.

Hi, what are your thoughts /recommendations for cervicogenic dizziness?
@TaroIwamoto
@TaroIwamoto 2 месяца назад
while I can't say for sure, I would think that improving overall movement quality, whole body coordination can help people with cervicogenic dizziness.

which only means that chest is not well integrated with other parts of your body in daily activities, which also means that you have a potential!

Can you please explain which muscles are involved in the movement? I can’t seem to get my sternum to move. Thanks!

I don't understand either
@TaroIwamoto
@TaroIwamoto 2 месяца назад
that's because your nervous system doesn't recognize that particular movement well, meaning that you don't move your chest in that way often (non-habitual pattern). it's really not a matter of knowing which muscles to use because your analytical brain doesn't do that for you. My suggestion is to place a small rolled towel under mid-lower shoulder blades (crosswise) and allow your chest to sink into the floor. This way, you can facilitate your sternum to rise passively with the assistance of the towel roll. This will help your nervous system recognize that particular movement and will help you feel that movement. Once your nervous system recognizes it, then, most likely you can move your chest more easily. this doesn't not require you to know what muscles are involved.
