i like how the underground corruption music is like “pspsps come closer i am a normal cave … haha just kidding” while the underground crimson music instantly lets you know this place is fucked up
That is pretty much the vibe of the biomes though. Go into a purple cave? "hm strange oh well" Go into a fleshy cave where standing on the "stone" probably makes a squishy flesh noise?
Crimson : _we will devour you whole. There is no mercy to be found here_ Corruption : welcome to funky jazz town enjoy your stay try not to be devoured by the local residents they will spit acid
1:30 is the taunt of the century. Seeing the Crimson bring back a familiar theme to a familiar place. The only thing not familiar is the new reddish amalgam spreading throughout your caves.
its like it wants you to think it's a normal thing. In lore, the Crimson itself is a living being seeking to "balance" the world. So in this case, to make it even more disturbing, the Crimson KNOWS your inside of it, and wants to you become one with it. Therefore, it tries to convince you in a way that it is, or will become, the norm.
@@burning_bright_ I like to imagine it actually would speak as if land it's overtaken was a part of it in the past, and even though that isn't actually the case, genuinely believes it
It sounds to me like Crimson tries to convince everything that it's just a normal thing, that kinda would explain why it is the normal Underground theme but... twisted.
The entrance of the cave looks like a mouth The open area looks like a weird hand when mapped out And the cave has multiple hearts This is no cave... I have to get out of here...
It's kind of incredible how listening to this song actually kinda makes you *feel* disgusted. It's a pretty great song that captures the heart of the crimson absolutely perfectly.
Fun fact: There is a endangered frog that has its babies stored in its stomach. So, if you die in your sleep, reincarnate as that frog, you technically can wake up in a Crimson-like cave. Your welcome.
I really love how there's parts which are obviously from the original underground theme, as though the world itself is attempting to fight back in some way against this evil. Then the sample glitches out and the crimson theme reemerges. However, the most interesting part is that there are parts which may be from the underground hallow, especially at 1:31. The extra spring in the melody is definitely ripped from the hallow theme. Compare this to the underground Corruption, which is, although also altered, not as glitchy as this theme. Discordant, yes, but it doesn't trail off, start the normal underground, hang on a note, and then do something more characteristically crimson afterward. The underground corruption is very much a part of the world itself, and has altered the very earth itself to accept it, much like a parasite, while the crimson is more of a sore, or open wound on the world. In the end, only from analysing the music, we can somewhat reasonably deduce that the corruption is not only older, but much more inexorably connected to the world itself, whereas the crimson is some sort of wasting sickness that slowly converts things into itself. Perhaps the corruption has always been a part of the world, whereas the crimson was introduced at some later date.
Teaching my friend how to play Terraria "Oh cool I got a gun from the heart looking things, Ill get you one aswell Sky" "Wait no stop" *Brain of Cthulhu has awoken*
The other underground evil biomes have an upbeat remix of the underground theme and the evil biome, but this one? Hell no. This one's basically telling you to GET OUT.
@@marcovalencia146 other way around. The Hallow can take over the Crimson over time. Interestingly, if the Hallow and the Corruption meet, they come to a standstill, unable to take over the other
@@whiteface513abandonedchann8 right, that's because hallow and corruption are pure goodness and evil but crimson is like a deviant form of evil, and therefore impurely evil and the hallow is able to convert it
something i've noticed is it starts going all in pretty hard around 1:31, but at 1:37 the song pauses with almost no instruments. as if the song stopped to *take a breath..*
Me hearing this in pre-hardmode: It's kind of a creepy place this crimson chasm! Me hearing this in hardmode: Oh no! It's spreading rapidly! Me now with 2000+ green solution: *Do you want to explode?*
I Love how this song has a combination of some songs like the underground theme mixed together with a demonic atmosphere. *WHY IS THIS GAME SO GOOD?!?*
This one gets more Underground-ish later which represents how deadly it can be on the surface, while the Corruption Underground sounds like... well, the underground theme being corrupted as time goes on.
Corruption: I'm pretty easy and I just corrupt your biome. Crimson: I'm difficult and I mock your underground biome's theme for not being able to stop me from spreading.
This theme REALLY captures how messed up the crimson really is. It brings back the cave theme, but more glitchy this time, *this is because the crimson is digesting it* So the crimson is making you listen to your caves slowly getting eaten and digested, making you KNOW that it's taking over your world and you can't do anything about it until you get the Dryad or reach hardmode - *where it spreads faster.* chilling
Me: *buying 10k green solution* Me: *going on Crimson’s edge* Me: *equipping cleantaminator* *Doom music starts playing* **Six hours later** *All Crimson was cleared from this world* Me: SPREADING HALLOW!!!
@@bacteriahowler it took me over 150 green solutions to clear 2% of the corruption. This comment in unrelated to the video but I think I let me guard down. Hallow(15%) Corruption(26%) Crimson(1%) my world is 42% Evil
everybody makin epick stories/theories so imma make one too one day cthuhulu was just sitting. being epick but then he got stabbed by an tree. and then he bleeded on the ground and that ground is now crison. the end
if you go to hell underneath the underground crimson you can get the souls from the demons. its easier to do, and in ur case would probably prevent a heart attack
dont worry, use a music box (can be bought from the wizard) and equip it when your town is at night, now equip it when you are in the crimson farming souls of night.
1:11 you can hear the Underground Hallow music slowed down. or it's vice versa (in which the Underground Crimson is sped up in the Underground Hallow but I don't really think it makes much difference)
@@htrehtrgfrebe63 nope. corruption was day 1, and hallow was like 9 months later with the 1.1 update, the crimson came in 1.2. so basically a new biome every update until 1.3
I like the start of it alot, it reminds me of the slow but terrifying descend into this madness. 1:31 is showing how creepy and weird it is, finding all of these hearts, the blood crawlers creeping on the walls, the face monsters constantly tracking you down...
i really like how the corrupted underground themes represent the biome the hallow is pure, and doesn’t destroy the world, but instead adds its own magic to it the corruption is a cancer that starts off leaving the land untouched, but slowly destroys the world, changing it to a dark shell of what it once was the crimson just completely erases what once was a pure land, and even tries to convince you that this is how it should be at one point, but it’s just not right
Crimson is gore Corruption is decay And hallow is Taken by youtube kids (As of this edit the video isn't marked as for kids anymore, so no more death unicorns for the kids i guess.)
I love this theme, I think it perfectly represents the feeling of going back to a place you once knew, after starting hardmode (like a cave you dug to find some chests or something) to find out it has succumbed to the infection, and suddenly much more dangerous.
love how this song progresses it's like you're entering the caves of the crimson and you're slowly being converted to that shared hivemind and like midway through the song it sounds like you're finally giving in and converting, hence that happyish feeling in the main cave motif
The sound of me getting slapped in the face with Ichor. Jokes aside, this song was very well developed. It really conveys -pure hatred- a creepy, apocalyptic feel.
*The Doom of Cthulhu and the birth of Corruption and the Crimson:* Milenia ago, a horrid and unspeakable being called Cthulhu ruled over the whole world. It was a tyrant, who ate anyone and anything that defied its will. It ruled over the world sovergeinly, until, one fateful night, it was slain. Its interiors wore ripped from the inside out by a mysterious, unimaginably strong being. Cthulhu’s blood and soul splattered trought the whole world. It was in that gruesome cenery in which the Corruption and the Crimson were created. The land and creatures that were contamined by the essence of Cthulhu’s soul were all turned into creatures of the outer, servants of Azathoth, therefore creating the Corrution, a creeping evil essence that spreads trought the land and sky, making the world EVIL. The land that was tainted by Cthulhu’s blood was turned into the flesh of Cthulhu, and the creatures were turned into bloody, horrid mutants, therefore creating the Crimson, the very flesh of Cthulhu, making the world BLOODY. And those bones found on the crimson? They are not really FROM Cthulhu. Cthulhu’s were buried under the sea. Those on the Crimson GREW THERE.
Alejandro Garcia do that mean that skeletron is cthulhu skull and bone arms and do that also mean that all 3 mechanic boss are his attempts to end you i mean if you think about the moon lord boss. First who is the moon lord everyone might try to figerout well the moon lord is really the true soul of cthulhu how you might ask well lets look at all his attacks (im a mobile terraria player who never seen 1.3 like that so I'm trying my best off of what i see on RU-vid gameplays of the moon lord boss). Ok these are the bosses that represents the moon lord first eye of cthulhu, brain of cthulhu (obviously),eater of worlds, twins and some what skeletron (ok I'm going to say it in the most shortest way i can) the eye on his head is the eye of cthulhu and on his hands is the twins what makes the moon lord like the eater of worlds and the brain of cthulhu is that when you defeat a eye it will pop out like when your fighting the eater of worlds and fight for him like the brain of cthulhu helpers things also the some what skeletron is his hand motion like when skeletron is about to slap the crap out of you with his huge hands. Well the first 2 questions i ask could that lead on to something also *THEORY CONFIRMED*
As happy as people say 1:31 is, it sends a chill down my spine much faster than any other portion of this track. Why? Because it's a reminder. That contrast reminds you that despite your morbid and grotesque surroundings, the caverns were once a normal place. The Crimson twisted them into something disgusting, and its ravenous hivemind wants more caverns like what it had just tainted. 1:31 is not a misplaced, lighthearted snippet amidst the evil sounds of this track. It is a warning. A warning and a taunt. It's like the Crimson is saying: "We have consumed some of the caverns you once recognized, and we want the rest of them." Truly terrifying.
Hallow *Upgrade* Corruption *Go back* Crimson *I SAID GO BACK* (Edit: im back from two years in the future, what the hell was I thinking lol) (Another edit: cool 1k likes) (Another another edit: hi)

I love how this compares the the other evil biomes themes. The corruption and the hallow are both just the normal underground theme but with some added elements, like with the corruption it’s just the normal underground theme that sometimes cuts off to more eerie sounds. With the hallow it’s a lot like it’s original theme (metaphorically) in that it has the normal style of terraria music with lots of magical sounds over it to hide the original theme (but less in a way than the normal hallow). The underground crimson tho, is an entirely new track and only has snippets of the underground theme unlike the others where the underground theme is the dominant track. To me this represents how, unlike the other evil biomes that the crimson is an entity in itself, that it’s not “corrupting” the underground but instead replacing it.
Back whenever mobile hadn't gotten the 1.3 update, the underground crimson had the same theme as surface crimson. It didnt change. Crimson and underground crimson had the same thing. when I started a new playthrough on terraria, my world was blessed with the horror known as "Crimson" and I had always fear it. You know, with the blood crawlers and shit. I have arachnophobia. Face monsters dont bother me at all. The spiders? that's a different story. Almost everytime I get a glimpse of them in the crimson cave, i get chills. I even built a giant stone bridge that was far from the crimson biome. By that time I was preparing for EoC. I killed it and got some crimtane ore. I made a blood butcherer and after a while I was like: "fuck it. Let's fight brain of cthulhu" so I attempted it. When I went into the cave I had no idea about the new theme so whenever it played, the beginning immediately made me think of spiders..i dont know why, so I smashed a couple of crimson hearts and Conclusion? the eyes massacred my body till I was nothing. So I was like I wasnt attempting it ever again unless I got better gear. So I literally had to make another world that was corrupt, kill EoW take the shadow scales and demonite ore, make armor and a pickaxe, mine meteorite, mine hellstone, which was horrible. Come back with a Fiery greatsword and some molten gear. I went over to the crimson to fight the cthulhu guy, and I actually killed him. I was so happy. And yeah, that's all. If you actually read this comment, thank you. It means alot to me.
I have arachnophobia too, but only the wall crawlers and black recluses make me shiver down the spine cause they are directly from actual webbed spider nests unlike jungle creepers and blood crawlers. oh yeah and plus the spiders in this game are almost big as you.
I'm actually pretty sure those blood crawlers were originally supposed to be ticks. Not like that makes anything better though, and I also think that since more and more people thought they were spiders, they terraria team just were like, "You know what? These are spiders now."
*A horrible chill goes down your spine* *Screams echo around you* *The Brain of Cthulhu has awoken* WARNING: Brain of Cthulhu is now better in update so watch its moves
I love how the underground themes for the Crimson and the Corruption are the regular cave music with their own themes mixed into them. It's also interesting how the Corruption's underground is more underground than Corruption while the Crimson's underground theme is more Crimson than underground.
I love how the beginning of the song sounds like you’re falling down a deep chasm to your demise... despite it being the opposite biome of where that should happen
I like the idea of infection but I chose crimson to get a cool vanity and DANG is it cool Cartoony gore? - yes please Get devoured and born again- never knew I wanted to! Sentient hive mind and scary eyes - you know me so well!
Sure, sure, if the Crimson existed in real life it'd be the most inconceivably horrifying thing the universe has ever witnessed, I get it. But... now, hear me out. If Solar Fragments ALSO existed in real life. Endless regenerating barbeque biome!
Imagine there being one big entity in terraria that's just an entrance to the crimson underground then gradually the entrance closes its self when you walk in and it just starts consuming you unless you find the exit
*huff* *puff* it's okay, you're just here to throw dust on bloody stone and break hearts... what could go wrong? it's not like 13 blood crawlers are coming towards you... OH GOD Gigi was slain by Blood Crawler
i know crimson is equal to loot but but my arachnophobia god fucking dammit what the fuck is that thing on their backs and why does it fall apart when you kill it kwuebhinca8uobvelc
@@gapplssb the thing is also alive and in the beastiary it has a sprite where the thing inside it's ass is BEATING, like a heart gonna have nightmares tonight
@@l4zy332 I'm not sure if you've seen what a realistic Blood Crawler looks like, at least according to the Wiki, but the "beating thing" isn't visible there. I can however see what you're talking about in the actual sprite.
how to counter the crimson 1 drop of hand sanitizer in the underground since the entire thing is kind of a open wound with nerves and stuff it willl experience eternal pain until it leaves
The corruption and crimson is such a chore to purify with a clentaminator, there’s always that one block you didn’t get and then you have to purify the place all over again.
honestly this just perfectly captures the feeling of dread and mixes it with some eerie edits of the crimson and caves and then makes it into dubstep and sometimes the dubstep and scary is separate but it always transitions so well
I remember first seeing the crimson, I simply called it the 'blood biome'. I found it harder to survive and defeat than the corruption, but much more rewarding. But it was also much easier to cross!
