Hi Joshua, Your welcome and thanks for watching glad you found it clear, hope it helps. By the way, if you are interested, X-Hanger has given me the rights to their Cessna 172N for X Plane 11, the airplane I use in most of my videos, and have allowed me to give it away to anyone who would like to use it for following along in my videos. You can learn how to download it by watching the video in the link below: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mmOxFBkgEBE.html Blessings, skip

Just want to say a big HELLO from Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada and a bigger THANK YOU for producing such GREAT videos. I've been watching them for the past 2 hours. LOVE the content. I am 59 years young and a student pilot ... 38 hours in my log book so far. Due to Covid 19 I haven't flown a REAL plane since Feb 24th 2020. Hopefully I will be back in the air again later in September. As time permits, I have been doing a little flying on my X-Plane 11 sim set up trying to keep my technique and procedures current. Your videos are a GREAT addition and compliment the on line ground school I am doing. I am starting to flight plan and do some navigation so these videos have been very helpful, a LOT of GREAT tips. I look forward to your future videos. Again, a big THANK YOU. : )

The VSI is very important in learning the attitude for straight and level flight and trimming for that attitude. If the VSI shows a trend up or down the pilot knows he or she needs to make an adjustment to the pitch attitude and then fine trim the aircraft to hold that pitch. The pilot can also decide to adjust the power to hold altitude. As a pilot enters a turn he or she is required to increase back pressure on the yolk control/stick in order to maintain altitude. The VSI is a great indicator in determining the proper amount of back pressure required, it shows if any trend has occurred while entering the turn.

Hi Skip, both situations worked out well. I didn't realize I was flying out too far after take off so I was well out of the area. Also, I forgot to turn the heading bug to the runway #'s. As far as the red line, I accidentally bumped the scroll wheel on the mouse and noticed that you can zoom in and out on the map. I just had to zoom in to see my flight path. At this point you would not want to see my flight path. I will be staying in the pattern till I get better control of the sim plane and before I leave the area to do some navigating. Thanks for you help. And by the way, I saw your video on your set up and it looks really great! I'll be working on mine for a long time. I bought the Allsportsystem flight sim but I am a long way from getting it to work right. One thing at a time. Bless you Skip and again, thank you! Dennis

Could you help, let's say I'm lost in a cross country flight. I'm on VFR. I've a chart and found an airport I want to head to. 1) How can I find the right direction on VFR chart (like what radio to tune to)? 2) As far as I understood there could be airports without any VOR/VORTAC/NDB stations. So how could I head directly to them? Sorry for these beginner questions ;)
@WEHVideos
@WEHVideos 5 лет назад
Hi VirVit, This is far from a beginners question and is a very good question as well. The answer is too long to describe here and is a very good idea for a whole video. I am working on a video for flight planning right now and will include the answer to your question in that video. The video will most likely be divided into several parts so your answer will most likely be in part two or three depending on how it goes. Thanks for a great question, I hope you can wait a few weeks for the answer :-) Blessings, skip

If possible, look for a VOR in the area, it doesn't have to be located on the airport you're trying to fly to. Next draw a line on your chart from the center of the VOR to the airport you want to fly to. The line you have drawn will pass through the compass rose on the chart of the VOR, indicating the radial from the VOR to the airport. Tune your nav radio to the VOR,( Frequency will be between 108 to 117.95 MHz, identify the station through the morse code or voice ID being broadcast and they rotate the OBS ( Omni Bearing Selector) for the radial you want to fly. Your challenge now is to learn how to navigate using a VOR, are you flying the radial or its reciprocal at first to get to the airport. As Skip said, it's an advanced question.
