I just found your channel recently and have been binge watching them. I have been sick and gone to doctor after doctor for 40 years (I’m 63), so most of my life. I’ve had so many diagnoses that I could cry just thinking about it. I’m an unusual case because I don’t have a positive ANA so no further testing was done, ever. Last March 2022 I had a new Rheumatologist decide to do a Lupus panel on me and I was off the charts for Lupus/MCTD. I’m one of the 2% of the world that doesn’t show a positive ANA. Just about the same time frame my husband was going through radiation for cancer. I decided then that our diet was changing forever. Our daily diet looks almost exactly like yours now. We are eating only organic, grass fed, probiotics, all the things. I have been for the last year drinking a milk keifer smoothie for lunch and when I want a soft drink type drink I have flavored water keifer. It has literally cured all of my stomach issues. No more reflux, etc. I’m in the process of finding a Ancient Grain bread recipe that I can use fresh milled grains for. We love bread in this house! Thank you for everything that you’ve given us. Your journey story was heartbreaking to watch but so inspiring to me! ❤

Hey Pam, sure I'll make a video for you. We are neutralizing the phytic acid to minimize loss of minerals from the body. You can easily sprout your own if you have an oven that goes low enough (mine doesn't) or a good dehydrator.

Check your grocery store for some! It has a bit of a vinegar taste and start SLOWLY with it. Just a teaspoon or two until you make sure your body can tolerate the probiotics in it. Look for it either in the produce section or back with your refrigerated kraut or vegan cheeses and such.

Men get them less, but it's certainly not rare by any stretch. One theory about why women get them more is because we tend to put more perfumes, lotions and fancy such on our bodies and those are pretty toxic. We give our bodies more to process than men do. But I truly do believe you can make a significant impact on your health with diet and lifestyle changes. And find a doctor who will dig deeper for you! If yours won't keep searching. Functional medicine doctors cost an arm and a leg but they will dig so far you wish they'd stop! LOL.

Found your channel through a bread recipe, and I was so impressed by how a simple recipe video could be so motivating and kind! Clicked on your channel, and I saw your motto, and you were speaking directly to me. Went on to watch a video about your health journey, and I just wanted to say how absolutely bright your energy is for people like myself in the audience. I struggle with an autoimmune disorder that effects my skin, basically got ignored medical attention told that I was fine or told that I needed to take dangerous medicine that masks symptoms. So interesting to see how our diets are quite similar and I have seen a lot of remission and even reversal (small amounts) of my skin symptoms. Wishing you all in your family my absolute best for being such incredibly persistent and clear-minded people! (And courageous!)

I can probably tell you that part without a video ;) but you let me know if you need further clarification. I don't eat bread of any kind. Nor do I eat gluten free bread or just gluten free treats. I don't eat grains so wheat is out and gluten free food is just swapping one kind of junk for the same sugars and blood sugar rise in the body that you get from regular wheat based foods. I do make sourdough for my family and was a very accomplished baker before I had to change my health so I certainly know how to do it, I just don't. That said, lots of people who follow this channel are here for a bread recipe I posted during the pandemic and have stayed for more bread videos. I don't know what to do because I can't eat it, and don't want to confuse people about the messaging of the channel but people are begging me for bread videos!

Hi Lisa, honestly I buy most of my groceries from regular stores. But I have been having problems getting someone to treat my CIDP. I am not being treated at this time but decided on my own to do some investigating on a anti-inflammatory diet. I even talked about an anti-inflammatory diet with my Neurologist and he had no idea what I was even talking about. Yes absolutely have hope! Why are they not treating you, assuming you want to try the traditional methods? It's certainly a disease that warrants some kind of management and most doctors are usually quick once a diagnosis is made. I certainly would never expect an allopathic physician to understand anything about diet and lifestyle for this disease. They think it's crazy but you just keep forging on. It's worth it.

@@teresadoyle1396 Actually, it's the opposite. Let's see if I can get this written without the monitors getting me...when vegetable oil hit the market in the 1930's (I think it was) Americans went from eating 50 pounds of butter per year to just 5 and heart disease skyrocketed. By 1950 it was the leading cause of death. There is a direct correlation between the increase in the use of polyunsaturated fatty acids like those in vegetable oil (plus diets high in sugar and white flour) and the rise in heart disease. There's much more to say but I will tell you that my husband lowered his cholesterol more than 30 points and lost 30 pounds on a diet of red meat, butter, eggs, and no sugar or refined oils. Blood sugar control is key for keeping inflammation in line. That said, potatoes and sweet potatoes can be part of your diet if they are paired with other good fats and proteins and in a proper serving size. Right now, my blood sugar is up some (it's a stress response) and I avoid them to keep my sugar from swinging but they are fine to eat if done properly. Other starches? Like flour, and a lot of the ones found in paleo baking like potato starch, tapioca, etc. are no-go for me. Your gut bacteria don't need all that!

Do you have a recommendation for flour/breads?
@FeastandFarmCooks
@FeastandFarmCooks 2 года назад
I think that depends on what diet you're on. If you want to let me know I can give you more specifics. I personally don't eat any--not even almond flour breads unless it's my birthday cake once a year. For the rest of folks, I feel like sourdough (long ferment) is the healthiest option. I have plans to make a video about that in the coming weeks. Straight gluten free breads are largely starches--rice flour, potato and tapioca starch, etc. and that's never great for inflammation to feed your gut a lot of that. I use cassava flour and almond flour for breading chicken, almond flour to firm up salmon patties...things like that. But a whole loaf of bread I can eat is long gone from my life. Let me know how I can help further. I can also make a video on how I use flours for things besides bread!

Hi love, your suggestions but I have multiple allergies to dairy, sauerkraut beef, shellfish, strawberries, grapes, oranges, and that’s just a few of them. I have fibromyalgia and sometimes I have an active lupus diagnosis. I am not on any medication as Dr. South giving up trying to medicate me because I react so horrible to multiple medications especially PAQUENIL and any suggestions. I LOVE SALMON AND SHRIMP AND I CAN EAT THOSE TWO THINGS FOR WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. I DO EAT EGGS ABOUT THREE TIMES A WEEK. I FRIED THEM AND OLIVE OIL DO NOT LIKE ANYTHING EXCEPT FOR LOX OR CURED SALMON IT’S VERY DIFFICULT TO HAVE A SUPERHEALTHY DIET WHEN YOU HAVE SO MANY ALLERGIES I LOVE VEGETABLES BUT I I AM ON A VERY TIGHT BUDGET SO I DON’T HAVE THE OPTION TO EAT ORGANIC VEGETABLES EVERY DAY AND HERE IN NYC. FOOD HAS BECOME ASTRONOMICALLY EXPENSIVE I ACTUALLY TRULY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMORE. Part of my condition, make it impossible to sleep along with severe menopausal symptoms which of course also can make it difficult to sleep. I don’t have access to go doctors even though I do have insurance New York State public Insurance It’s pretty bad I believe in natural medicine, but obviously, New York State is not going to cover that. I started consuming Ashawanda forgive my spelling I’m taking about 1500 mg but I started with just 1000 mg about three days ago but I have not seen any difference in my severe depression which is also part of my email disorder nor have I seen any improvement in my insomnia, which is pretty darn bad and of course it adds up making me feel that much worse.

Avoiding food without healing the gut is counter productive. Heal the gut first (look at the GAPS diet). Do that for a couple of years and you'll likely be able to enjoy lots of foods. Food sensitivity tests only tell you what your body struggles with but not why. Avoiding them won't help.

Can I get regular quinoa and soak them for 30 mins before cooking? Will that be same as sprouted quinoa?
@FeastandFarmCooks
@FeastandFarmCooks 8 месяцев назад
No it isn't unfortunately. In the case of quinoa, it has to be soaked in an acid or salt water solution and then redried before cooking with it.

I’ve heard of beef tallow, but what is it? Do you use it for cooking like grease or is it like a butter? Also you said you eat all veggies cooked. Do you ever eat lettuce? I know some people put lettuce in their smoothies. I’m a new subscriber. I’m hoping to get encouragement from your videos and learn about this diet and lifestyle. I also used to be a nurse. It takes a while you realize the career you’ve done doesn’t have the answers for health. It’s always pills. I’m a believer also.
@FeastandFarmCooks
@FeastandFarmCooks Год назад
Beef tallow is more appropriate as a cooking fat--not really something you might melt over a food for flavor like butter. I do eat a few more salads these days but only made with delicate greens like butter lettuce or baby mixed greens. No spinach or kale raw. They are simply too hard for the body to digest. You don't really need lettuce in smoothies. There are a lot of other nutrient dense foods I'd choose over that. And yes you're right--you have to stop following what you were taught to live this way and get well but it works. I love nursing and medicine when it's appropriate but there are a lot of times our system is greatly missing the mark. Welcome to the channel!

Hi. I found your bread recipes and then stumbled on your autoimmune journey video. I have Hashimoto's, fibromyalgia, and Multiple Myeloma. I'm not sure what to eat and what not to eat. My question is, do you make/eat bread, or are you still grain free? (I've been milling my own flour and making bread.)
@FeastandFarmCooks
@FeastandFarmCooks 2 года назад
Hey Laura, yes that video is going to follow me around forever I think. I made it before I was ever in my wheelchair just as a teaching tool for people during pandemic who couldn't find bread. But yes, I am grain free and if you have autoimmunity, it's a good practice to remove all grains from your diet for a while, while the body heals. My providers say eventually I could go back to having properly soaked rice and sourdough, gluten is gone for ever along with any "regular" baked goods and that's okay. I do make sourdough for my family--they aren't on my diet exactly--but I personally avoid it right now.

@@FeastandFarmCooks for sourdough bread, are you using rice flours to make it? I have a few autoimmune issues myself. I’ve tried grain free but would only last a few days because I wouldn’t feel right. (Not like I was healthy anyway 😊). But when I added cleaned white rice I felt a little better. Another issue I have is my gut is terrible. I had 2 surgeries in one month, including removing my gallbladder. During both surgeries I had some pretty strong antibiotics that practically wiped out my gut bacteria. (Stool tested by a naturopathic doctor after reg medicine failed me). I struggle to regain gut health. I could go on, but I was curious because when my stomach is really bothering me, GF toast with grass fed butter is the only thing that seems to sit right.

I think to eat the good food that God makes for us and very little processed is probably the best that seems to be what you’re doing. My journey through ferments go as far as beet kvass and wild yeast sourdough. I haven't done any kraut or fermented vegetables on my own but plan to in the future. Why are you watching carbs? (potatoes, sweet potatoes)? You don't have a weight problem.
@FeastandFarmCooks
@FeastandFarmCooks Год назад
Blood sugar. Blood sugar. Blood sugar. Swings in blood sugar whether we have diabetes or not drives up cortisol which drives up inflammation. A steady glucose is a calmer body overall. And you're right--I'm a size 4 but that's pretty much natural for me no matter what I eat. I do still eat some potatoes and sweet potatoes but I keep the portions small and only after I've had my fiber, fats and protein. No one focuses nearly enough on the root cause of blood sugar imbalance for autoimmune disease.
