The Beginner's Guide to YSFlight - Part 1: The Basics 

The other difference regarding OGL and Direct3D is that they, as it says on the tin - use the Open GL 1.0 and 2.0 Graphics APIs and the Direct3D 9 API. Those on Linux and Mac will not have the option of Direct3D 9 as Direct3D is proprietary and only available on Windows. If you're on Linux and find YSFlight to be buggy or cause issues, I recommend downloading the Windows version and using it via WINE. On Mac, WINE is also available, but your mileage may vary. A simple way to do this, is if you have Steam - is to set up YSFlight's Windows version through Steam's Proton (Steam Play) feature. Also - a useful tip for all parties - the V key will show the Flight Director cue, which shows a 'cue' similar to a basic line drawing of an aircraft from it's rear. this will show you where, if you maintain the present flight direction - your aircraft will end up. Aim your FD cue at the runway on approach and keep it on the runway. try to keep your speed low, usually around 30 knots above stall speed is best. Once close to the ground, 'flare' your plane's nose upwards slightly so that your rear landing gears touch the ground and apply brakes to slow yourself down. This is also useful for landing on carriers, so keep this in mind!

I miss so much the ww3 server with is variable G limit for every plane.... make the dogfight so interesting... And bombing too.. The variety of every nation thx to chplane... Oh why nobody can replicate that G limit according to aircraft limit? It should be an ingame feature, for me. That's add a whole different meaning to flying...you have to restrain and use the available G like in real life. Too much G and boom....
