I am Puerto Rican and whenever I was tired and exhausted from working so many hours my mother would come over and bring watercress with salt and olive oil. It would always make me feel better. It has bee a while and I forgot so thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I have been following Dr Berg for many years and my body, skin and health has gotten better and better. This is the healthiest I have ever been. Lost 60lbs and if I gain weight I can lose it through Dr. Berg. No more feeling almost defeated like I see the light but not there. Now I see the light and am very very happy. Can you do one on napal.
I'm Chinese living in Southeast Asia. Here we boiled it with pork bones as a savoury broth and have it with our main meal. But it is often boiled to death, lol. Not sure if that takes out all the nutrients. For me I add it right at the end of the boil, then turn it off so it still looks green & fresh though cooked thru. Love it!
I separate stalks & leafy parts. Boil stalks with pork bones & red dates longer. Add leafy parts at the end with some goji berry. Greetings from Malaysia.

Thank you for your information have been eating your watercress salad for about six months now feel great when I’m looking at my skin, I can see a difference more youthful appearance. Thank you for your information.
That's great I found a spring near me where it grows abundantly b4 the water leads to the well. And a nice walk for the dog. Free salad whenever I want!
Dr Berg, I eat lots of wild plants and there are a host of wonderful foods just growing as weeds. For example, Curly Dock is very anti inflammatory and healing for the gut. Another wonderful plant is plantain. Both help with inflammation and have a decent cooling effect on the body, great for summer! Amaranth pretty much grows everywhere too and the whole plant is edible. All of these are easy to ID and don't have many if any dangerous lookalikes.
Yes, watercress is the way to go !! I've always loved 😍 watercress but had no idea about their benefits .. I put a massive amount in between my sandwiches and its so delicious ... Just thinking about them makes me want to drool 🤤 !! Thank you Dr. Berg for always reminding us to keep our bodies in check !!! You are always greatly appreciated ❤💛💗 !! What would we do without you ❗❓❗
I remember the first time I heard about watercress. I was watching an old I Love Lucy episode when they had watercress sandwiches in Florida lol. Lucy said it tastes like buttered grass and I thought hmmm that sounds good! Lol.
@@michellemoffett9458 I'm sure you would enjoy consuming watercress .. Years ago when I would go on my lunch break I came across a restaurant called " Alligators " they specialized in sandwiches and that's when I discovered watercress ... Ever since then I never stopped consuming it !! Give it a try you have nothing to lose but goodness ...
@@user-ni9gk1sv6k I've already had it several times. I was just talking about the first time I heard about it. I did try it in my 20s and also a few years ago. I do like the taste. It's next on my shopping list! All the talk about it on here is making me hungry lol.
@@trollenski I've been consuming watercress for over 20 years !! Never thought it was bad to begin with plus I love the taste as well .... I've always been a big fan in eating the right ✅ foods !!
Dr B you are are 5M - so glad about that! This vid is WONDERFUL - never realized it was cru'rous! And these benies are exactly critical to me right now. Thanks a TON, as usual! Hi and LOVE to Mrs. B!
@@TheSwedelove I usually juice watercress and blend it with fruit smoothies. People need to really realize that going vegan is the answer to all health problems. They recently discovered duckweed is a natural plant b12 plant source.
My baby has been eating watercress since 1yr old! Watercress is a superfood, slightly more nutrient dense than kale. I love it because of the literal water it adds and my baby loves to crunch the stalk. We put it in almost everything and we eat it just as is on the side of dishes! It is amazing!
Dr. Berg ardent fan & follower of yours from 🇮🇳. When will you make a video on Covid 19 vaccine, how it affects our immune system and whether one should go for it or not?
My wife's work has a Life Insurance Policy for the employees. They recently dropped EVERYONE who has taken the vaccine. Because the vaccine hinders your body from making anti-bodies. Also, Plasma Donation centers are not accepting anyone who has the vax also, for the same reason mentioned above. As an American Indian, we have a saying on the Reservation: "If you think the government won't do to you, what they've done to us, you're only fooling yourself." Good luck to you and your decision making.
The answer to this silly vaccine is to take control of your health by stop eating animal products, going vegan… Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. Stop being told what to do by the government to get vaccinated. All a distraction now.
Nice to know! When I think of beta carotines I think of orange vegetables. Wow I had no idea it is in watercress. Watercress is tasty! This week I got parsely next week watercress.
@John Boyd Wow that sounds so delicious! All things I love. Riced cauliflower I've been eating a lot of so that would be a good replacement for the bulgur wheat.
Thank you Dr Berg I am from Trinidad and really wanted to know what nutrition greens I could use in my salad . This is very helpful .I usually use iceberg lettuce but from your videos I notice it's not very nutritious. I really try to use the stuff that is available to me locally to cut course in my diet.
I have Watercress everyday on my toast with chives and parsley, onions, curcumin and black pepper, to make it more palatable I put a nice thick layer of egg salad on there too, de-lish. I think your vids are very informative and watch the new ones every day. Thanks and keep up the good work.
It grows wild in the runoff from the spring behind my house. I use it everyday in my a.m. smoothies. I’m thankful for this video. Also good in cooking.
Moringa is a superfood it has a lot of vitamins and nutrients! My grand parents would always have about 4 or 5 trees on our properity when I was growing up. Now I have 2 big trees in our backyard garden we enjoys the leaves in salads, soups or just pick it off the tree and eat it.
Thanks, Dr. Berg for being a great on-line information source for health and diet. Over the past 1.5 years your voluminous materials have inspired major diet/lifestyle modifications which have significantly reversed post-retirement weight accumulation (55 lbs) and brought about ‘radical’ (for me) actions such as eliminating added sugars, reducing most carbohydrates (flour, bread, pasta, potatoes etc.), and rejecting manufactured shortenings and processed vegetable oils in favor of better quality fats ie olive/avocado/coconut/real butter/natural lard etc. And implementing two meals a day, no snacks and meals on either end of an eating window of six- to eight hours usually. Thanks for continuing great information like the above. It is much needed education for the nutritionally illiterate masses - but we’re getting better with help like yours!
I get organic watercress fed from Hampshire chalk streams - I knew about its vitamin K content - I followed You since 2016/17 Excellent and vital nutritional information . another product I use is omega 3 oil from Algae (no microplastics ). both myself ,who has old sporting and motorcycle crash injuries and a friend who uses it have found that on days we forget to take the softgel capsules - our aches are worse .
Thanks to your videos I am on a one meal per day lifestyle, I sleep through the night and am in an overall better condition. I need to add that the foodstyle of the people in France helped a lot too. In general I have noticed that if you get through wintertime without gaining to much weight you will be fine.
this vegetables are the best veggies. whenever i ate this veggies the next day i poop a lot normally hard for me to poo. from now on im gonna eat this veggies everyday..love it 😍
I was waiting for you to make a video on this. This may be one of the top nutrient dense vegetation discovered thus far. A very interesting thing about watercress is the botanical adaptation that it developed as a defense mechanism from insects eating it, it gives off a pungent mustard odor to fend them off. That pungent odor is a poisonous defense against the insects and it becomes more astringent as it gives it off, however to humans it adds more flavor (and nutritional value I think too.)
Great info thanks 👍 😀 I also heard that from the way it grows (in water!) & i guess because they like it, it can be a magnet for liver-flukes, so gotta be very thorough washing it before eat. Also is it important to try get organic or does it grow easily without much pesticide if the liver flukes stay on it? Or do they nowadays? I always struggled with the bitter taste plus hard to find to buy here, & don't know how big are liver flukes to be visible or not..? My Mum lovvvvved watercress, bless her. I liked chewing on parsley stalks!
I believe watercress and what we call cresses are the same or very close. They grow wild or you can buy the seeds. I have them growing in my yard and have let them go to seeds. The flowers are bright yellow. I should have a great crop of them this fall to harvest as they are already in my garden. So delicious!!!
Watercress is a staple vegetable for Chinese cuisine in soup category, you can make soup with watercress, pork chop and black mushrooms. I have yet to try it as salad.
I ve known this about watercress for a long time Eric! Used to buy it in bunches very cheap in UK, now it only comes pricey in a miniscule plastic bag, usually from Spain 😣 Make watercress soup with onion and moullet it til thickens, delicious 😋
Dr. Joel Fuhrman in his ANDI index (Aggregate Nutrient Density Index) ranks Watercress as one of the few plants with the highest score like Kale. I use it in salad, cole slaw and tuna salad. Adds a nice, slightly peppery accent.
Hi Dr Berg! Thanks so much for the data. On the internet (I know fun) it talks about POSSIBLE stomach issues when taking too much watercress and some other negative comments on it...so just in case wanted to ensure all that is covered, maybe a follow up video or something on those/that. :) But will definilty be adding to my diet ...YOU ROCK.
Hello. I gained weight drinking nuts milk that I prepared by myself, I get a handful of 3 different nuts for example walnuts, pecans and almonds, I previous make it clean then with boiling water because sometimes bring any dirt. So once they are clean I blend it in 3 cup of water, one for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also add a small spoon of extra virgin olive oil to every meal. I also eat avocado every day. I also eat fresh peanut butter, you can eat the peanut if you can't find fresh peanut butter. I eat 3 meals plus snacks.
