This is by far the best iron I've tested this year. The Wilson D9 Forged Irons cover every golfer with forgiveness and feel. Lee's Sponsors Seed Golf - seedgolf.com Twitter: / golf_whittaker instagram: / lee_whittaker_golf
Picked up a minty mint set a few months ago after trying them out, and absolutely love them. Soft feel, look great, and sensible lofts for not a lot of money. One of the golf world’s best kept secrets.
Pure magic. I have been playing these D9 Forged for 9 months. Absolutely love them. Feels soft when hitting the ball, good distance and is still forgiving. Just ordered the Dynapower Carbon driver. Keep up the fantastic job Lee!
I've been playing D7's for a couple of years and they still feel as good as day one. All the right numbers and distances for an average golfer with incredible feel and feedback. Great review, Lee.
I have the D9 forged irons with the Recoil Dart 75 graphite shafts - What a great combination for an older person with lower swing speeds - I hit my 7 iron around 145 to 150 carry yards / These are the best clubs I have ever hit - I keep buying new Clubs and for some reason, I keep thinking there are better irons out there - I still have the Ping G430 and the new Srixon Z5 MKII irons with steel shafts and did own the PXG Gen 5 P series irons - Now some of the other clubs do go a couple of yards further but the D9 forged irons still comes out with the best overall results with tighter dispersion and higher ball spin -
Good to hear. I've been intending to buy Ping G430s but these Wilsons get great reviews and the D9 Forged seem incredibly good value. Sadly I've not been able to demo them as often not carried or increasingly out of stock (think Wilson will soon release replacement irons for the D9 forged). The D9 Forged are still available online, and I'm tempted. Like you, I've tried the Pings, Srixon ZX5 and PXG Gen 5 P series, but keen to know whether you still prefer the Wilsons. I'm 64, 18 hcp with swing speed around 77-80 mph.
I just traded in my Ping G430's for the D9 Forged about a month ago. I had no feel with the Pings. Love the feel and feedback of the Wilsons. @@DavidGregg100
Love wilson irons. The wilson utility iron is one of my favorit to go in the bag this year. I like the wilson staff model cb as an ironset. One of the best bang for buck when it comes to iron sets
WIlson as a brand are overlooked in general which is a shame as pound for pound they are equally as good as other brands that charge much more!!! I tried the D9 forged but I didn't get on as well with them as I did the CBs which is ironic since I only took up golf last year and don't have a handicap yet!!
these D9 forged irons are rated fairly good in all the reviews I’ve seen so far, so obviously for no reason at all I had to buy a set to try, I got 5-GW coming
Lee, I like these irons but chose the D7 Forged when I hit them back to back. I liked the D7 Forged better. I chose the D7 over Miz 223, Ping i59 and i 525, Miz 921 Forged, Cobra, and Srixon. The only thing I would prefer is a thinner top line.
I've been playing these irons since last years and I enjoy them over the taylormade p790 that I traded in for. They are forgiving and very accurate. If you haven't tried them maybe you should try them.
just got mine. They replace a set of ct1200 I bought new in 1990. My reason for replacement is that I wore them out. The 7 iron was almost smooth. My new irons are butter. I find myself shooting at the pln not at the center of the green. Once ya get used to them that run it by the pin seems to happen more.
i currently have the Stealth irons..like them alot but you really have me wondering about these irons now...thx alot...lol.... your thoughts on the 2 types of irons and comparison ...great review by the way....cheers from Canada
I’ve not upgraded to D7/D9 Forged, for exactly the reason you aren’t going to put them in your bag Lee. Because the lofts are just a bit too strong. So I still play the C300 Forged which is their predecessor, (7 iron is 33 degrees. Very similar technology to the D9 (forged feel, power holes). Can you imagine if the D9 Forged was lifted at 32 degrees? To me that would be perfect
Do you remember what shaft was in these when you tested them? I've had DG S and X flex, but also quite like $-taper 120s. Just a bit concerned that the stock shafts won't let me 'lean' on a shot without balooning. Any help would be appreciated! Cheers.
I play these. I'm nowhere near good enough to play the 5, 6 upwards though they are just so consistent. I can hit the distance in a studio, then go on the golf course & replicate the number. Superb clubs for loads of golfers.
"1 foot 11 inches from the pin... Tap in my birdie". Hmmm, seen you miss that on one of our vlogs at Dartmouth I seem to remember 😅 Great review though and they look really nice.
Tried them... bought them! They are absolutely lovely, the nicest feeling irons I have hit with that level of forgiveness. Ignore the brand. These are great
If I did not have the other D9 irons I would get these. Wilson kind of ticked me off when they released this model, since I had bought the D9 distance irons just a few months earlier. Fate struck a cruel blow.
I live in Australia don't know what you're financial situation is but I brought the gap wedge to test first there reasonably cheap I ended up getting a full set there fantastic irons 😊
Wish they’d bring back the red/black logo. And every time i go to a wilson demo day, including two weeks ago at pga superstore, they never bring any lefties. Annoying.
