I thought last week was full of C8 Z06 news, turns out this week has even more, though at least this week is a bit more good news for the car. We're going to cover all the news, I'll share some thoughts about what's going on, and one really important clarification about some of the news which many people have seemingly gotten wrong.

Thanks for the level-headed info. I also can't stand the sky-falling stuff. The blog GM Authority wrote a very irresponsible article that got shared a ton. However, it is only about 450 allocations. John corrected himself. Let's say they have 13 production weeks this year. That's 34 per week, about 7 per day. Only 3% of plant capacity. I'd like to believe they can figure out how to build them and get supplier constraints sorted out in the next two months and catch up a little since they "could" build 50% Z06 according to the production shuffling slide. I'd not be surprised if we see them allow a few more allocations in November and December with constraints. I sure am hoping anyway since my dealer didn't get one in the first unicorn round of allocations.

Thanks for the info, I didn't see the retraction. That's unfortunate. I try to get my info right, and saw the 1000 allocations cited in a few places. Thanks for the correction, I'll pin this comment.

Thanks Fred, always a level headed approach! I know myself, I've pretty much come to the realization that 2024 seems more likely. As sad as that makes me due to wanting a 70th Anniversary, it will be just fine. I look forward to Spring time to hear what new colors will be available for next year. Hoping to see that "Minted Green".

Hi Everjeff! Agreed! A few people have taken me reporting what's happening as "me being happy about what's happening", and that couldn't be further from the truth. Rather, I'm taking a situation we have no control over and trying to frame it in the best possible light, which is how I'm choosing to look at it. I certainly don't relish being 3-4 years out with my allocation (in the 1150's at MM), but I don't really have a choice, and as an optimist in life in general, I am finding the silver linings to that. I'm really interested to see some new colors too, would love a good metallic green! Have a nice weekend man! -Fred

You've had me go back over your video twice and look for hidden gems in the background...Well played Sir...Well played...ha ha ha! As previously mentioned, I always appreciate your point of view on topics and your title of the Sky Isn't Falling is pretty much spot on for a lot of video's out there! Glad to see your style video's, like a light house beacon for the ships in the dark...ha ha ha! Anyway, my take is I've been waiting for a while now for my C8 Stingray allocation to come in through Whitmoyer's. 🤞 I don't see a delay, but I'm looking forward to driving my Stingray for a while and doing a few mods, before my Z06 allocation comes in around 2025. Great video as always Fred. I am #91 at MM now. This rollout is a lot slower than expected. I am taking museum delivery but I won't do that in the winter so I'll have to see what happens in January if I'll be before next winter or not. Disappointed I can't even nail a time frame down at this point. I could have been even earlier but I took into account past Z06 allocation and was trying to time a spring '21 delivery of my '22 Z06. Boy that didn't work out at all lmao 😂
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle Год назад
Hi Vettesweetnos! Thanks! Agreed on the incredibly slow rollout, and the problems in that there's not even really a "firm" timeline to plan around. Museum delivery sounds great, but agree with you doing it in winter wouldn't be ideal due to driving it home in the salt/sand/snow. Fingers crossed for you that the timing works out, keep me posted. Haha you made the best effort you could, I don't think anyone could have guessed all the twists and turns this rollout (or whatever it should be called at this point) would have. Though I'm trying to find the "bright sides" of a lot of this news over my videos, I can't help but feel like for a "premium car experience", there is a lot to be desired here. The good news is that I think the car and the driving experience will be fantastic, living up to expectations, and ultimately being worth the cost of admission, but there is a disconnect for me, how a car costing roughly as much as 30% of what I paid for my house, is being treated like kids being picked for a game of kickball. It just doesn't feel very...appropriate for the kind of money involved. Fingers crossed though, I have faith in GM, and that they're doing the best they can, so here's hoping that the issues get sorted out by EOY, and they can roll into the new year under full production load, and a bunch of people can get their cars! I'll definitely be living vicariously through people like you, sharing your experiences, since I'm so far down the list! Have a nice weekend! -Fred

I started looking for a z06 about 4 weeks ago from my local dealers. my wife bought a zl1 from another dealer. While in one they just had a 70th anniversary come in wrapped up and going into detail which startled as special edition but now is limited. They knew what i wanted the z06.I bought the 70th and paid 15 over msrp.It is a beautiful car.Well 4 days after purchase i get a call from the gsm. He tells me that he has one being built in 3000 status (mind you that this is about 5 days before gm haulted allocations etc) it is a hypersonis grey with adreline red interior carbon fiber etc. It has all option minus z07 and its a coupe.He told me that if i wanted it he would give me aall the dough back for the 70th and i need to pay 50 k over msrp. The msrp is just over 140k.I buy many specialty cars from the dealers and pay cash.He sent over the build sheet with the bzm number.It also is in 3000 , well now its beyond that. The car is now mine. You are right these cars will be worth alot. I dont see them being to produce alot. These really bee some of the last cars as we go electric.As in the next few yearss the supply chain isnt really going to be corrected easily and if GM was only going to do 10 percent of C8. I guess i was in the right place at right time. Also yes this car is worth 50 k over msrp to me.

Also part of the story is the guy that was in number one position didn't like the color of the z06. He said he would wait for there next allocation , thinking they should get there second one very soon. In the meantime i made the deal with them. a few days or so after that is when GM made the calls to shut down allocations until next year. I really think this car is going to be hard to get now and in future. Markups are on ALL vehicles in AZ. especially for broncos R and even regular broncos. i can go on and on.Raptor s and raptor R 60 k over some cases 75k over.These vechiles will not compare to up value for the z06. If you can do it i would suggest paying over is thats your only chance to get one. You will NOT lose either way.As i see it as i am not happy to pay over , thats the only way to get. This dealer did not tell me that they would give to me for msrp at all. So there was nothing hidden or lies.

Fred, For me, and based on responses I had on MECF from a few others, further delays for the Z06 are potentially impacting our ability to run track. I am 74 and facing the reality of what age does to us physically. I really thought that I would have mine spring/summer next year, now that seems impossible. I am facing do I want to spend $175K on a car that I may not be able to run road courses for very long. About a year after I put down my deposit I had an eye stroke. Although I have learned to adjust for this, there is a possibility it could worsen. That combined with further delays, each year of delay is one less year that I can enjoy the car. Sorry to be a downer, but like I said there are a few of us going through this prospect. Sully
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle Год назад
Hi Sully, No apologies needed. Very sorry to hear about the eye stroke, and I understand the implications of that, as well as age and the reality of "good time left", especially in the context of demanding driving like track use. While my perspective/video was largely targeted at the general Z06 interested audience, there is certainly a subset who those assertions don't apply to, or don't align with. Your case definitely sounds like one of them. Having gone through some pretty serious health scares for both my wife, and myself in the last 18 months, the fleeting time of good health is literally my top priority, and that which I balance my entire life around more or less. Pushing the car out, especially if you're bumping up against statistical likelihood of potentially not being able to use it for track is a very real problem/risk. Apologies for not calling that out a bit more clearly. What I was trying to get across is that ignoring individual circumstances (mostly because those with 2023 allocations are such a small percentage of the total number with reservations in), we've all waited months/years already, so "what's a few more months, for them to get the car right?". If I was in your shoes, I think my mindset would be to make my best guess of how my health and likelihood of being able to do track for the next couple years is. How have I been? Have there been recent setbacks? Are there things I can do to increase my odds or improve my chances of still being able to? etc... If I saw time dwindling and more uncertainty than not, then I'd possibly consider getting something else, keeping the reservation, and having a car for enjoying next year. As they say, life's too short, get the slice of cake (or something like that). Worst case, if you pick up something that will hold it's value for a year (like a 911 Turbo S), if/when your Z06 allocation comes up, you can easily parlay that money right into the new Z, and keep right on going. And if, worst case, things do change, at least you got to enjoy next year. That's how I tend to look at things, is make the best of the situation you have now, and figure things out from there, as you go along. Nothing is guaranteed (as you know) in the future, and it's not worth waiting/hoping for things to work out, especially if there are big factors you don't control. I don't know if any of that is helpful, but I hope it is (though I'm sure you've probably already thought of all this previously). TBH, a big part of why I'm not sweating the Z06 timing is because I've done the mental math and realize that even if I never end up with the car (because of things outside my control), I love my C7, and will have that until (if) the Z06 becomes real for me. Keep me posted on how things pan out (feel free to email anytime), and I'm pulling for you man. Hope you have a nice weekend, and I hope things work out for you in this regard. -Fred

Hi Jonathan! I can only comment on what my experience has been there. Specifically, my call out to them was in what I saw of people posting a lot of sensationalist or completely speculative comments about what was happening. The intent (as far as I could see) was to try to keep the information factual and accurate, even if that's tricky/difficult at times. I don't have a problem with the other forum either, but again, only based on my own experience. Having talked at length with John and several others from MECF, I can say that my interactions have all been really positive, and that my every impression is that they just want respectful, honest exchanges. I'm sorry if your experience has differed, but I stand by what my experience has been. Separately, I do have to disagree with your comment about disagreeing about GM requirements. I don't post there a lot, but for the past several months, several of my videos have been posted by various people there. Those videos in questions while predominantly complimentary about the car, are not tied to GM in any way, and I've called out things I don't think are good, and have shared my opinion unrestricted and unfiltered. Those videos/posts are still up and visible to all. While I am a big fan of the car, I'm not a lifelong GM fan (my C7 GS is so far the first and only GM product I've ever purchased, my Z will be the second). One thought might be if things are being deleted that are more aggressive/trolly/or baiting than necessary. I personally don't tolerate people swearing or attacking in the comments on my channel, and have banned more than a few that couldn't help themselves to attack me or other commenters. Just as my channel is my space to run how I think best, that forum (and most others) are similar. There's also a high likelihood that people/comments could have gotten warnings via DM before any action was taken. But as I said, I've been able to say whatever I thought and had no issues. *shrug* I'm sorry you haven't had a good experience, but mine has been good, which is why I shared what I did. I’m trying not to be influenced by ZO6 information one way or the other. As I said before, I don’t think the ZO6 would be a good fit, the E-Ray being a better selection, or perhaps I should be staying with my current 2022 and enjoy it. If I get a ZO6 allocation, I’d probably need to think long and hard about what to do. Health and financial condition would likely weigh heavily on any decision. Seeing Amelia chauffeuring around some people associated with super cars seems to give positive indication as to its ability to impress them at some level. I still wonder if any respect as a super car will be seen by the Exotics Community? What will it take? I think some Exotic Snobs will keep their nose in the air with regard to Corvette even if it outperforms them all!!! Chevy will hopefully have the sense and ability to put out as many ZO6s as possible during the C8 run. The need for the specialized components being a real issue. You probably know more than I do I’m sure, but a number of suppliers have gone bankrupt and perhaps that is due to their inability to get what they need to make the Carbon Fiber parts as one example. With what, about the need for 600 suppliers being involved with building a ZO6, what could possibly go wrong? Thank for your thoughts and presentation to keep us well grounded. Doug

Hi shphrd1, I pinned a comment to this video, but it turns out that when I filmed, the number in multiple outlets was ~1k, but a few days later it was revised down to 495. I highlighted that that was a mistake and not intentional. There's a challenge of trying to film as close to "go live" as I can, to still make room for editing, rendering, uploading, and screening, so unfortunately being only about 5 days out was enough that the information changed. I will digress a bit though and say that those waiting in lines for years didn't get screwed (or at least not how I see it). I certainly welcome/realize everyone feels differently. I've been in line for what's approaching a year (Nov), and I know others have been 2+ years give or take. It's a setback yes, but is small in the percentage of the total time, as well as GM clearly just isn't quite ready to smoothly produce as many as they can (be it reasons they can't control, or ones they can). I stand by my point that MOST people weren't going to get a car this year, regardless (there are way more that are 1-4 years out than there are first year reservation holders), though I'm sure that's small consolation to those folks. Either way, I'm optimistic the car will be worth the wait, and stressing over it or getting upset isn't going to change anything, so my intent was to hopefully help as many people as possible see that it isn't a real problem, and that its' still going to happen, just a bit later than expected. Hi thereissomecoolstuff! Hope you're doing well! 2 thoughts. First, you may not have seen it, but the 1k cars allocated was incorrect (The news stories were updated after I had filmed and I was unaware of the change), but I pinned a comment explaining it in the comments here. That leaves us with somewhere around 500 cars being allocated (and thus needing to be built). The other part though isn't speculation, they have to build those cars that are allocated. My math may have been off, but still 6-7 cars per day is at least something. GM stated too that they want to "get it right" in regards to the production for the Z. They are going to be building the car through the end of the year, and as Kai's slide shows, they have to space the cars out for various reasons so I think it's reasonable to expect they'll be making them from now through the end of the year. I agree with you that they won't build cars without allocations, especially since they know that every dealer is willing to take as many allocations as they'd be willing to give out. But they do have to make the cars already allocated, so that will be happening. Congrats on the 3000 status! Have a nice day, -Fred

imo putting off Z06 allocations until January 23’ for “ Regular “ People tells me there’s some kind of problem, and of course Chevrolet Won’t be Transparent , AND when Z06’s become available, WATCH FOR THE JANUARY PRICE INCREASE 😁

I think a fair number of regular people are part of the first wave of allocations (small as it may be). I know the ones from MacMulkin, are "just normal people". I don't know that there's much that could be gained other than them saying specifically which parts they are/were out of. However, look at it this way. No matter what info they provide, some people aren't going to believe them. I think at a certain point there isn't anything to be gained by providing more info, it would just turn into more of a headache for them than it already is. Plus, I'd rather they focus their time on fixing whatever supply/production issues they're facing. To be clear, this isn't just affecting them (as I tried to highlight in the video). I tried to buy the replacement for my truck recently (a couple months ago), and at my local dealership it was a 6-12 month wait for the vehicle I wanted, and it's nothing crazy/fancy. They cited all the same things that Chevy is saying. Regarding the price increases...I mean most of us are already years out (I'm in the 3-4 years out bucket most likely), meaning that 4 months one way or the other isn't going to change anything there. Statistically most reservation holders are there too, so I don't really think this is to get more money or anything. Anyway, have a nice day. -Fred
