You know how Kirby: Right Back at Ya made this emotional and interesting backstory for Meta Knight? You want to see the exact opposite of that? / mistysparkles www.paypal.me/sparklemisty
Tokkori's G-rated "no shit, Sherlock" reminded me of this quote from Kevin Kolack's AMA concerning Tokkori outtakes: "...Tokkori was very prone to dropping the F-bomb when yelling at Kirby or describing DeDeDe. There is an outtake compilation file on a hard drive somewhere that I would pay big money to have, and that I'm sure 4Kids would NEVER let get out! I remember my stomach hurting from laughing when I heard it."
@@thedarkmasterthedarkmaster this refers to bloopers, of sorts, made by the dubbers- maybe an accident, maybe as warm-up, but it’s not in any script, just actors playing around.
"How many other people use this service?" Now I have an image of Nightmare Enterprises selling to other nintendo villains. No wonder Bowser, Ridley, and Ganon never seem to run out of goons.
At this point i think Right back at ya is essentially just the Deltarune of the kirby universe. Characters carry over but are seemingly changed in strange ways or have new professions and small characters with no significance are now very very important and completely different characters.
With the teleporter thing my assumption is that it is supplied to all n.m.e customers in order for them to actually get the monsters Because you know they can't be shipped in cardboard boxes
The moon and the sun ARE symbols of gender :) in alchemical tradition The whole reason why the splitting into girl and boy is not explained in the original is because of daoism and the yin yang tradition
This series is great, just found it and binged the episodes. Right Back at Ya is perfect kind of likeable bad and your reviews of the episodes are spot on. Keep up the great work!
I do wish that Lololo and Lalala were more established in the games or at least have more lore. I know that the Adventures of Lolo is probably not canon to the Kirby games but I would like to know if Lololo and Lalala got there own castle by overthrowing some giant purple egg king thing. Who knows. I mean, if Dynamite Dux can be canon thanks to Bean's existence in the Sonic series, I am sure anything is possible. Oh yea, the episode.... Well, I guess it is best to bring up one problem with the show that is mostly just a me thing really and that is the representation of the games... that is the lack there of... yea, you get a character or enemy that is from the game here and there and this show was made before the expansive lore but even then, the Mr Bright and Mr Shine cameos as weapons for an enemy that isn't even in the games is a bit frustrating. Yes, even to this day, they don't really much lore to them but I think it would be cool to see them fully animated. I don't know, maybe if they were in the show, they would be some sun and moon "monster" (or "demon" in the Japanese version) that can change the sky from day and night and the episode would be about... sleep deprivation. I'm just spit balling ideas really.
Sun and Moon are symbolic in the way of two sides of the same coin in this interpretation of gender, as well as Romance and Germanic languages gendering each differently, with each picking the opposite there as well. It still makes no sense in Hoshi No Kaabii
I believe the reason why Lololo and Lalala are changed to Fololo and Falala in the English version is because Japanese people find it hard to say the word F. Although yes they have F on their keyboards however when they speak those words, it sounds more of a V than an F. The 2nd reason why I believe they changed Lololo and Lalala are changed to Fololo and Falala in America is because they think that Lololo and Lalala sounded less interesting for Americans so they changed their names to Fololo and Falala.
Given the famous phone call EXTRA THICC scene from Samurai Jack i think we can assume Aku would be interested in such a monster delivery service even if he doesn't have it
I can explain why when Kirby was split in half one part came out with a bow and the other did not. This is because Kirby is in fact 20% cotton and the bow half got most of that. That’s not their feminine side, it’s their fabric side 👍
The male and female halves of personality is a thing, they're called the Animus and Anima respectively. It comes from Carl Jung and is part of the Shadow Archetype.
15:10 Well, since Dedede is cyan, male Dedede could be royal blue cuz Dedede's a king and female Dedede could be sky blue cuz Dedede's a bird... It's only one more braincell than this show has. XD
Theory: Kind Dedede bought monsters before Kirby showed up just cause he thought they were neat. I mean think how acts about his in the first episode, yeah he's a lying dickhead about it but it doesn't seem like it actually eating all the sheep are a goal so much as just something he doesn't give a shit about. Which I mean in his defense, that means Kirby did kill his pet in cold blood in that episode.
The TV guy (who you call "Monster Man") is ACTUALLY the N.M.E Salesman. The Nightmare Enterprises Salesman. Took me 4 years to find this out...you're welcome
15:38 yeah, it's kind of confusing considering both characters are actually male, but it's even funnier than in other languages, such as Spanish, the moon is female and the sun is a male, while in German it's a female sun and a male moon. We could say some words are "gendered" in some countries
Maybe the people behind 4kids were listening to Deck the Halls while translating the scripts and coincidentally (or accidentally) -mis- named Lalala Falala.
5:38-6:15 & 14:18-14:22 I always had the headcanon that Nightmare spread anti-star warrior propaganda across the galaxy and gave those teleporters to the different planets his propaganda reached, so they could defend themselves against the star warriors. When Meta Knight showed up, DeDeDe decided to pull a "keep your friends close & your enemies closer" so he hired him as a knight & let him live in his castle so DeDeDe could keeo his eye on him at all times. DeDeDe decides to order monsters just in case Meta Knight tries something, and then the mini god slayer that is kirby shows up & DeDeDe is wants to exterminate him becuase he is ultra powerful in addition to being well liked. He could turn the people against him & take him out in one fell swoop. So DeDeDe orders as many monsters as it takes to clobher dar dere Kirbeh.
Maybe the whole Kirby splitting up into two versions of himself in different genders could reffer to a more genetical situation? From what I can remember, our genes defines ourselve physically through our "Fenotipo" (IDK how to write it in english, maybe phenotype?), which is the physical manifestation of our "Genotipo" (this is the same situation as before), in the case of an hybrid gene (which are composed by two different "alelos", a dominant one and recesive one), it could mean that, genetically, we may have part of the two genders, but one is more dominant than the other (or maybe not, is just my interpretation)
they could've been the sun and moon because the sun and moon are seen as traditionally masculine and feminine. A yin-yang thing where each side is masc or fem. sometimes the dynamic is flipped though with the sun as fem and the moon as masc (see: the man in the moon & a mother's warmth)
I'm sure somebody's already mentioned this, but the sun and the moon ARE male and female coded classically, which is why the moon is the main focus of witchery and is named things like Selene and Luna across various faiths/cultures
There is an enemy in the games called jukid that kind of looks like Fofa (but with a judo robe and big hands). It atacks going from side to side trying to push you arround and it reminds me of lolo and lala pushing boxes. Its probably my imagination though and there aren't intended conection.
7:00 it actualy was revealed that the milkyway wishes sun and moon are the actual sun and moon and mr shine and mr bright are just guys that look like the sun and the moon
Fololo and Falala…..Please don’t tell me I’m the only one annoyed that this is the only episode in the entire series that focuses on them! They have a really interesting backstory and they were apparently raised by Tiff and Tuffs parents but we never see anything like that. They have a really interesting backstory and past but we don’t learn anything about it outside of this episode and it never comes back. Why is this the only episode in the series they’re focused on. In every other episode they appear they have a few speaking lines and then they’re just pushed to the side
I'll be honest, I actually really liked this episode the first time I watched it as I really like the big robot splitter thing, why I can't tell you cause I don't have a reason but it did feel weird to just make an episode on two characters that did nothing for like most of the show Also why does meta knight have a weird accent in this anime, it was very fricken weird and unneeded
No gender, just wanna eat a grill cheese with tomato soup. I remember I was shocked watching this, I love the sun and moon design, cool that their game enemies.
I remain convinced to this day that the dub name change for Lololo and Lalala was entirely for the sake of the alliterative episode title that no one was actually gonna see and affects literally nothing later on because 4Kids is stupid like that.
