As someone who's fixed and sold multiple mowers, I'd have to hands down give this to the Toro, I have a Toro Recycler, 2014 model 20332, and it's the best self propelled walk behind I've ever used, beats any competition I've found in the price bracket to date. The Honda HRR216 machines, the decks don't hold up as well as the Toro, I have a HRR216 as well, the wheel brackets are worn out at only 5 years old.

Few additional considerations - 1. Should not cut from 10 inches down to 4 - way too much at once and not good at all for the grass. 2. Nearly every other mower would give you similar results given the grass heights.....some much worse that others. 3. If you mow for a living you would want to get as much of a quality look as possible in hopes of being hired again. That said a double cut would be necessary. I've been forced into this situation many times. I've found that during periods of hot weather if you side discharge the yard on the first cut and then wait at least 15 minutes and let the hot sun bake the clippings you get a much better result on the 2nd pass if the grass is dry, longer time is preferable. On larger yards I do the single pass on the entire yard, run the edger and then the trimmer around the house trees and fence and then blow. By the time I've done all that and put away the equipment, save the blower, about 20-30 minutes has passed (again, larger yards and I'm moving a bit slower than normal as well). The 2nd pass usually obliterates what is left over and the cut is acceptable. I try and save these jobs for the afternoon if at all possible to take advantage of the sun's effect or if I have another yard in very close proximity I'd come back and do the 2nd pass on the way back. Now I'm not using a push mower either but a Ferris Z2/61" or 36"/Z1 and you also get a 25% surcharge for "grass neglect" too! I've done this with a push mower on my own yard too. I cut it late in the morning and did the 2nd pass later in the afternoon with better results. This is not an original idea of mine. I saw this technique on another lawn care channel a few years back. Tested the idea and it worked well and has been part of my routine ever since. Wish I could remember what channel this was as I'd give him the credit!

I like the comparison. I was cutting with a craftsman ( same deck as your husqvarna) for about 10 years. Then I used a toro super recycler at least twice as old as the craftsman and felt like a sucker immediately.

I don’t own either the Husqvarna or Toro. I do have a very old Honda which I got free and fixed it up. This was a very good comparison. I must say that I like how the Husqvarna engine sounds- very smooth. But the Toro seems to cut cleaner. Tough call, but honestly I would love to own either of these fine mowers. Thank you.

Both very good machines but I prefer the Toro. Another interesting comparison would be between the Toro in this video and a Toro Super Recycler. The Super version is supposed to have better under-deck baffling and of course the nice aluminum housing which gives even better results. Love the Toros, been a Toro owner and maintainer since the 1960's Whirlwind models with the impulse crank-up starters!

In my opinion, if I had to choose one, I would totally go with the Toro. I've been using Toro lawn mowers for over 20 years in my lawn mowing business. Reliability with them is high and parts are cheap.

I know this an older video, I'm in Australia, and I'm trying to decide between a Husqvarna LC419SP, a Toro 22" Personal Pace Rear Wheel Drive, or the Toro 22" Personal Pace All-Wheel Drive. I like the drive system on the Toro, as well as the quick change mulch/bag lever, and the 22 inch cut, but I do like the alloy deck on the husky. What are people's thoughts? I am a fan of the single blade system on the toro rather than 4 blade on the husky

Cliff, I have noticed in the past, that when I need to pick up a new mower, such as the big box store Toro or the Husky, I immediately replace the blade with a new Gator blade. The end fins on the Gator greatly improves the mulching performance. It's a good investment for $20.00. Also I believe the grade of steel on the Gator holds the edge longer!

Toro takes the cake. I have mowed with many lawnmower brands for over 40 years. Personal Pace 20333 is underrated and "top shelf" residential/mid range commercial grade.

10 inches of grass at a cutting height of 3.5 inches left about as much grass as I expected. 10 inches should be bagged.

The Husky might have been going a little faster. Could be the reason for more grass clippings.

I just bought the HU800 awd 190cc due to a mower breaking down. I have about 20 lawns so I am part time. It’s still in the box. I wanted the tb360 but Lowe’s couldn’t get one. Did they stop making it?

I'm diggin the.... Mower cam..... I have owned almost every brand mower known, to me the best is my old 80s snapper bagger with the mulch plug 3 1/2 HP points and condensor briggs engine, it mows better then anything you can buy today, out of the two you used today the toro did the best, ok here is my list, my old 80s snapper, my old 94 lawnboy 2 cycle with keystart , my newer lawnboy with briggs 6.75hp key start, my newer toro 6.5hp turd 22" with key start..... But if I have to do a pro job I always bring my 80s snapper hivac, it gives the levelest cut, the cleanest cut and the quickest cut.

What is the differece between mower engines with and without OHV? wich one is better and why?

I would go with the Toro. My dad was a loyal Toro buyer and he turned me into one.

nice video. toro takes it for sure. i have a toro 20332 for 2 years now and put it up against my toro 8.75 190cc timemaster and the 20332 won leaving almost nothing behind while the time master left uncut grass behind.

I have a husqvarna 22 Honda push rear wheel auto walk. The engine has had work on it twice believe it or not. But I'm not overly impressed with it and the self propelled system is chummy. I'm feeling the toro

Your bias toward the Husqvarna engine was obvious. The Toro started just as fast with one light pull? Don't see the difference. If the Toro did a better job with the clippings then it's the winner.

Toro may have the better cut but personally considering that I'm a small engine mechanic I would take the husky every day over the Toro. I would rather take a well built machine that's comfortable and reliable over one that cuts a little better.

Why are people knocking Toro quality on here? Have I missed something? I've owned several big box-store brand MTD mowers; never owned a Husq; but they look to be the same sort of junk as the MTDs and everything I've heard about them reading reviews and such until now bears that out. I now own my first Toro; a TimeMaster 30, and it's way, way ahead in quality above any mower I've ever owned; so I'm just wondering, what do people know or have experienced that I've not? I'm on year 4 with a Toro and although belts and pulleys start to go after three years, which is expected of any belt-driven blade system over time; the wheels, handle, engine, and deck are all nearly like new in season four. Far better than any mower I've dealt with in a homeowner setting; and I'm not taking any special care than I ever did. And then there is Toro's patented Personal Pace system. I don't think I could go with another SP system. If I don't have Personal Pace, I'd probably opt just to push. I tried to use my dad's front drive system with a bale handle, and it drove me crazy; all that pulling and such. Are Husq brand mowers really above what I'm seeing with my Toro. If so, then they'd be getting close to commercial quality, because my Toro is pretty tough and easy to use and cuts great; far beyond anything I've ever used on a regular basis.

I've used both Toro and Husqvarna and, in my experience, Toro is the winner. Husqvarna is less capable of mowing grass with its inferior mower deck design. Additionally, I use a Ryobi (electric) push mower 21" and it's not as good as either of the two but at least I don't have to worry about going to the gas station just for a few gallons of gasoline and headaches from fumes.

Judging by the colors .... Comparing these 2 mowers is like apples to oranges.

you can't fault either mower with overgrown grass. if the lawn is properly maintained clumping is eliminated. cutting "10inches" down to 4inches is expecting a bit much. i'll keep my husqvarna hu800awd thank you, it simply takes the work out of it. my second choice would be a honda mulching mower, they are the best at that. toro's are for fan boys.
