Join me on a cozy winter day with some cozy knits.
I'm wearing a sweater I created from a combination of sweater patterns highlighting all my favorite cozy details. Turtleneck, raglan sleeve and long ribbing.
On the mannequin is the stunning Butterfly - Papillon Shawl designed by Marin Melchior of MarinJa Knits. This pattern can be found on Ravelry. It is made in a fingering weight yarn. Ravelry.com MarinJA MarinJaKNITS@gmail.com. #marinjaknits. There are lots of project on Ravelry. Enjoy!
On the head is the Block Island Hat designed by Deborah Newton in collaboration with North Light Fibers and The Seamen's Church Institute.
#northlightfibers, #deborahnewtondesigns, #blockisland
The hat is knit in North Light Fiber Ocean Ave merino worsted weight yarn. This pattern is offered in a kit at North Light Fibers on Block Island. Http://north light fibers.com
Deborah's incorporates three traditional fishermen's gansey patterns. The Diamond, Ladder and Diagonal.

Beautiful projects! I really enjoyed seeing the green shades, that is a color I tend to shy away from but need to rethink it as those all are stunning pieces of knitwear. Thanks for a wonderful episode!

Having lived on Long Island, I’m no stranger to the beauty of your beautiful island. Day trips were always a favorite. Your knits are beautifully executed. Always look forward to your next episode.

Hi Carla, can you believe I’ve never been to Long Island?! I’m hoping for a girls weekend to visit the Vineyard ms some weekend I’m the fall. Someday. Thanks for following my channel! Have a nice wee weekend.

Montauk has somewhat of the Block Island vibe and scenery, should you ever wish to visit. Just a ferry ride away. The Vineyard is quite beautiful in the fall…fewer crowds.

I’m meant the Vineyards on Long Island. Could be a fun girls get away in the fall some year. Yes, Mantuck would be easy as there’s a ferry to and from BI in the summer. B

I really like the sweater you are wearing dear Diane... it is very much the model that I gravitate to and it looks lovely with ribbed sleeves. ❤

Good evening Ivana. I love the garter stitch blankets you showed in your most recent episode! The one with the golden colored strip looks nice when you held it up near your leather couch. Thank you for another wonderful episode. Yes, I do love the shape of the green sweater I’m wearing on my last episode. Have a nice weekend! 🧶❤️

Good afternoon Diane, How lovely to see the scenes of Block Island. The sky was such a beautiful colour. The Butterfly Shawl looks stunning especially in the choice of colours you decided to use. It looks very complicated until you explained how you did it. Your green sweater is the second one I have seen where the sleeves have been done in rib. I really like how it looks and think the next time I pick up my knitting needles, I shall try one too. I am still working on a (large) Victorian style cross stitch sampler which is my Winter project. I need to use a daylight lamp with magnifier to work on it, so it is taking a while. Anyway, have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to your next video. Sophie

Each of your knits are so beautiful! The butterfly shawl is stunning and just your colours. I’m going see if I can get a shaded yarn that will suit the project. Thanks for the inspiration I do not enjoy completely mindless projects. So I try to self draft garments. Ann Budd’s book of top down sweaters helps me to get a guideline. Sometimes there’s ripping back to get the desired fit but the end product is so satisfying.

Your sweater is lovely and how fun to use different techniques to make it your own special piece! The butterfly papillon shawl is beautiful, nice and colorful! The block island hat is so fun with the different textures! I was searching for a pattern on the Mary Maxim website and saw a few jean jacket designs and it reminded me about your project using the pattern from Circulo. Looking forward to seeing your finished jean jacket with the buttons!

Great episode! I used to have a pair of sock blockers but donated them during one of our moves. I just never used them - i think they are more for podcasters to show socks :)

I really enjoy your podcasts, they are so relaxing and educational. I really like your style as well. The butterfly scarf is absolutely stunning, thanks for sharing. P.s I bought a sock blocker of a similar style and I gave it away to charity as it was loose too. I'm not a fan of that style sock blocker. Thank you for podcasting.

I really enjoy your videos. You are a talented inspiration. That shawl is fabulous. Reminds me of my recent trip to Maui. The blues and greens of the ocean, the brown the sand, white caps of the waves. Not sure if that’s grey in there but it comes across as grey on my monitor reminding me of the whales we saw. I may need to make this and try to copy the colors for my next trip to HI.

This has been so lovely to have your catch up and to hear and see what you have been knitting. Loved your projects. The story behind the hat was excellent. Enjoyed seeing the island views too - made me remember the Island we lived on for over 20 years ( but very pleased to be back on the mainland) Thank you so much. ❤

I'll soak my socks after making them and let them dry flat, but I don't put them on sock blockers. I gave mine away. I don't think it's necessary.

I always block socks - by pulling the fabric vigorously in all directions to “settle” the stitches. Blockers are optional. They don’t really substitute for the settling process.
