Filoni isn’t anything special either, he’s just better than everyone else in that studio. He apparently only knows how to write one type of story: one where the hero is constantly babysitting a child
I laughed my ass off when carl weathers is leading his 20 citizens through the desert like moses 🤣😅🤣 and then only a mile away from the town/city he says to them that we will camp here the night (falls off chair laughing)
And yet so many like Andor, despite the fact we’re being fed the same crap that had been fed to us before, but was better… I mean seriously. What exactly was interesting about Andor? How on earth are fans not tired of the empire or rebels? Has no one seen the old republic MMO trailers before?? Does none of the level of detail or writing get you excited over the slop you get from fucking corporate poster boy? Because do remember you’re being forced to like a character created by a corporation (Disney) who didn’t have the creativity to make their own source material, so they just pushed themselves into George’s creation. Andor is a literal corporate product…
Channels like yours help me write better. Currently writing a book and the amount of times I hear you shit on something in a show, laugh at it, and then realise I just did something similar in the book and should probably rethink it is beyond count at this point. Everyone falls into tropes and stereotypes. Getting _out_ of them again is only done through content like yours. Keep it up! Especially against Disney. F×ck Disney.
Eh, tropes are only tools. Depends on how they are executed in the story that makes them well written or not. Granted some of them are more used then others, but the trope wouldn’t have to be played straight and could be subverted or exaggerated to make it more interesting.
Haha, Luke Chad is singing „I got the Power“ from Snap and is creating Alpha-widows like KK and mother-of-Rey, which are so much overwhelmed by toxic masculinity, that they start to become a toxic Man in the body of a female.
The Macguffin is used to find the Macguffin needed to save the Macguffin for the plot. The Macguffin is then used to find the Macguffin for the big Macguffin while the little Macguffin is the secret Macguffin key to save all Macguffins. Truly 10/10 writing...
I wanna know why they fixate on Bo-Katan being the unifier of Mandalore when she was never set up that way to begin with. She was part of Deathwatch which was a terrorist organization that consisted of nothing but exiles and rejects from the real clans. They violently usurped the throne of Mandalore so I'm sure most people wouldn't be thrilled about the idea of throwing in with someone who helped completely tear their planet apart and hand it over to an outsider. (Even if she objected to Maul taking over she still helped him get to that point to begin with.) She didn't even show a hint of remorse at the death of her sister, she was literally more mad about an offworlder taking power. It was her and Deathwatch's actions that directly brought significant republic presence to Mandalore, which in turn lead to Imperial occupation and ultimately purging. She's basically directly responsible for everything bad that's happened to mandalore in the last decade or so. She's objectively a villain and they keep trying to make her out as a hero, why?
Simple. The way I see it, this is redemption for Bo, and the Mandalorians as well. They had spent the good chunk of their history as ‘the bad guys’ (going on militaristic crusades for glory’s sake doesn’t do well to paint you as a hero. What with the conjuring and subjugation and all that.). The New Mandalorians tries to change, but that old leech ruining their legacy, the sith, came along in Maul. They usurped Mandalore, only to have Maul usurp them, and he held no regards for Mandalore, only how he could use it. Bo had been at the forefront of resisting these foreign occupiers since Maul, her first shot of redemption came with leading her people to free them from the empire. But that went horribly wrong, and it nearly cost them everything. Their home world, their people, their Beskar. All killed or ceased by the empire. Now though, the empire are mostly gone, Bo has had her faith reignited by Din and Grogu, the sight of the Mythosaur, and the fellowship offered to her with the Children of the Watch. With this, and the darksaber provided to means to rally the other Mandalorians, they no longer need to hide. Mandalore can now be claimed again, and it’s people, culture and creed can rise again under the rule of a new Manda’lor.
Guys, you try to bring male logic in a „Female Power“ woke Disney organization! This will never be helpful. They have an ideological Agenda . They are not trying to create movies and series for their Fans.
Bo Katan became a girlboss because kennedy got her hooks on mando since they had luke and asoka in the show so now it's main series adjacent, which as per her contract she is obligated to work with, and she managed to oust filoni, who's seriously looking to DC for an out.
Because she is a woman, it's so sad that they are actually ruining even the female characters that were actually cool. Ahsoka is next on the chopping block.
In all complete honestly this show should have just ended after season 2. The journey was complete, Mando got Grogu to the Jedi like he said he would, we could have gone on not needing to know what happened next. Perfect ending. The only thing with that would mean that the writing team for Boba Fett would have needed to more competent to not need Mando to show up in that show.
You sir, are one of the best reviewers Ive ever seen in my entire life... your style is very appropriate for this lazy drivel and your more entertaining than it, thank you!
I am both saddened, AND amused to watch all this unfold. I've been a filmmaker for...well over 30 years now. Nothing I've ever done film wise, would exsist, without the original trilogy. So that's the sad part to me, saying goodbye to a friend like that. The amusement comes as a result of their utter narative failure, while being overly arrogant during the process. Its fun to see a bully trip and fall on their face. I...walk both worlds...so aparently, I can unite all of Mangalore? Lol
So many stupid things: 1. Greef Karga is operating an outer rim planet that is in a known pirate hotbed, refuses to join the New Republic and yet has no defence/military. Also, only 30 people. And, they escape on Foot!! 2. Teva went from somewhere in the outer rim to a core world, then wherever the Mandos live and back. God, there were other pilots in that canteen. In an emergency situation, he went in the opposite direction. 3. The logical conclusion he draws from pirate activity in a known pirate planet is that the Empire is coming back. What?! 4. Mando had to take a bath, but Bo-Katan can just remove her helmet😅
Not to mention that of course the powers that be at Lucasart/Disney can't allow Din Djarin to become a leader or a ruler. That might lead to character development.
The voice actor for the space pirate is the voice for Le'Chuck the Pirate in the cartoon video game, Monkey Island. He is über talented as that role but I agree that he does not fit in here, But I think that has to do with poor cgi lip sync or muppet flapping mouth face. Mandalorian S3 is all about setting up Bo as the amazing person and everyone else is just there to make sure the story lets her travel from a to B.
This season kinda sucks. Why did Mando give the darksaber to Bo Katan? Why was he allowed to? I get she defeated the monster thing that “defeated” mando (despite the fact that it was a surprise attack and therefore shouldn’t count as a darksaber challenge.) I had hope that mando could actually wield the darksaber and rule mandalor. Giving up the darksaber means he gave up his status as the main character to Bo Katan. Why?
I want to know why there wasn’t anti aircraft guns or weaponry set up to defend the town Or why didn’t the Mandalorian invade the ship and take it for themselves? They’re gonna need a bunch of ships to transport their supplies and have a mobile base and to fight off anyone that decide to fight them
Space taxis perhaps? Contacts with favours? It was an incognito method anyway. Kinda wonder how they were to get off the planet if discovered, slaughter the ones who found them and confiscate the ship(s)? Call in other Mandalorian friendly contacts?
My D+ subscription expires in a week and a half. I resubbed once season 3 dropped and I have been wildly bored with every single episode so far. I'll either watch Reaper's recaps as a synopsis or *cough* *cough* "watch it at a friend's house."
i actually hated the series of events that led to this..... ....the magistrate and a mandalorian .... gun down 5 people in front of a school building ..... and just leave their corpses out front and walk away
Sort of a moot point though because we all know Gina Carano contributed literally nothing to the overall success and reception of the show. She was just some fucking eye candy with a subpar performance, tacked on for the female audience to have someone to relate to and or give Din a possible love interest. While I disagree with why she was fired, I wasn’t sad to see her go- like couldn’t care less.
I like Gina, but her arc was finished and she would have just been another weak guest character dragged out and tagging along for a story that wouldn't know what to do with her.
@ryandozier8053 when Cirano was still on the show Din was facing Empirial remnants. Now he's simping for literally the worst Mandalorians to exist. Him whining over his helmet is a massive step down from where he was at the end of season 2
yeah I noticed the fast-travel time nonsense in the earlier episode where Mando rando gets trapped soooooo Grogu scuttles back to the ship, flies to ANOTHER PLANET (ok "moon") finds HoboKatan, convinces her its worth leaving, then leave that planet, fly through space to Mandalore (which is now suddenly Manda'lore to appeal to the Hawai'i/Polynesian fan base) find the one speck where it all went wrong, aaaaand find Mando, still intact as if to indicate its been a few minutes. SMH
I am so glad that I finally found someone that doesn't sugarcoat things and points out the obvious mistakes in shows. What passes as a good show today would be considered the worst unimaginable mistake just a few years ago. I'm not that old and I don't know everything I'm not saying I do but even I know when something is absolutely garbage and just push down your throat for simply because
Wish I could read in between the lines like him. It seemed like a good episode until he pointed out Greef Karga's incompetance, and the pilot thing the officer made a good point about not helping in forever wars.
Nah bro ur crazy, spot on everywhere, kid does knows what’s up and knows how to explain it great even if you haven’t seen the show, which I have, you can still see how lazy Hollywood has gotten and people are blind to it
They’re trying so hard to justify Snokes creation even though his character was pointless boring and a waste of space, and as a result lose some of the storytelling that made Mando great. Smh
3:02 i mean I don't think it would be safe for kids to be around drunk pirates with blasters assuming they had drinks to give. What's really getting my head scratching is why the pirates give a shit where they'd get a drink, like Greef carga offering it at his place was probabky gonna be way better than what that bar was like anyway and they were idiotically hellbent to go to the no longer existing bar otherwise???
Don't forget to review the good shows like Tulsa King, shows that are actually entertaining need to be critiqued as well. Maybe take a look at Will Trent, only watched the first two episodes, but it seems pretty good.
Good video, glad you see all the problems and more, than i do :) I came to the conclusion that Favreau is overrated. He may adapt things good, like Iron Man, and those dipshits from Game of Thrones, but write something himself like a few of those episodes... not so much. Same with Game of Thrones... no Original Material to adapt, it all went down the toilet. The Moff Gideon actor already told us, he would be back, in an interview after Season 1(?), he said "it will be really good from season 4." If they hide Gideon for the rest of the season, and start a new republic vs fake Mandalorians (because they are just recruited, they know jack shit about the Lore or how to be the best warrior race out there), just because they found one damn piece of metal... yeah, ALL Mandalorians are behind it... sure...
I thought they might actually do something with Bo, but no the exact same storyline for multiple years now. What is that storyline? She wants to take the planet. Man the least they could do is make her take accountability for her actions or have characters call her out on them.
This season has no point of existing, it would probably be better if some Disney spy didn't write a Mandalorian season 3 before Mandalorian season 3 and advertised it as a Boba Fett show.
So… just cause she gets more focus here, it’s all about her now? I’ve personally quite enjoyed her company, and seeing her grow to be invest in the Watch and reinvigorated to unite the Mandalorians.
Mandalorian was a waste of time since S1E4 when he goes to that farm planet, gets into a random fist fight outside a bar with another bounty hunter for no reason, who then offers him a drink, while the baby he is protecting is left sitting alone in the bar. I clocked out before I finished the first season. Not surprised that the 3rd is even worse lol. "This is the way" 🤮
I was one of the people who taught Rebels was decent for a show, even if the “for kids” lowering of action and political themes were blatantly obvious. Nevertheless, I gave Filoni props and thought he and Favreau would be saviors. To push Star Wars out of mediocrity. But, I just feel like S3 is the lesser of the three. You do a good job of breaking down the lack of plot. Sometimes your commentary may seem a bit mean-spirited, but when the show is literally wasting time with that boring New Republic thread with Lady Scowls (forgot her name), I think it’s appropriate. Just feel dumb for letting myself believe in something I thought would be closer to Clone Wars. Guess I’ll check out some of the Expanded Universe stuff until this season wraps up. Thanks for being honest.
When I saw their marker board and saw “Dinosaurs” I thought “wow, that’s all kinds of stupid”, but I assumed it was a launching off point…. Nope! That board was the sum and substance of this garbage season.
I feel this whole beskar thing was a dumb idea. First, it makes the Mandalorians ridiculously powerful, yet as we saw in Clone Wars they can easily be taken down somehow - I guess those guys were not wearing beskar? Second, why would we think the Empire occupied Mandalor and NOT mined and used beskar, then? They would have certainly used it in the armor of their troops and vehicles.
I agree. the female spy... or... Imperial republic convert.. or whatever her TK designation is. There is like 90 things she shouldnt be able to get away with in this show, and besides breathing and speaking being among them There would be not only that eye witness in the med lab but detailed reports of every knob and button pressed in those rooms with timestamps and cameras that see who enters and who leaves that room as well. Seeing that one of their prisoners got absolutely mindmelted after a supposed low-power pulse configured by the medical professionals and supervising physician, they would immediately investigate the discrepancy between the effect the machine incurred on the cloning Scientist guy, and the expected power setting for the medical procedure. It was started at the people who entered the room entered at the procedure was but the log shows power setting was used instead of leave the room at , and female officer does not leave until Between times leaving and leaving spikes to 100% from 15% A re-formatted mindflayer for medical purposes shouldnt even be able to reach its full power setting. It would be "nerfed" like a nerf gun. Have special hardware limitations that outright prevent overclocking unless physically modified. Even still, IRL, these reports and logs exist as I described. A hospital's desk recieves a notification and sends it to your nurse every time you tap the morphine button on your Intravenous dispenser. your monitors for your vitals also send alarm signals based on certain events to notify staff that you urgently need attention. The morphine, saline drip, or any other instrument in there responsible for administering something to a patient has engineered hardstops (like in the case of morphine) that wont allow overdose to be achieved, and has stoppers. Notifications & timestamps of instrument usage and setting adjustment is still reviewed by the nurse or other practitioners at the main desks. So if you are mashing the button, you get hardstopped, and the notifications are sent anyways that you are trying to get more morphine. This can then be used to assessed if you are trying to notalive or if you are really in that much pain. Every bell and whistle would be going off after that officer left the room, she would have about a day at large, and then arrested. How the hell is she still a participant in the storyline after this? The writers didn't know what the hell they were doing with that did they? DO YOU KNOW WHY A HOSPITAL WOULD BE ABLE TO RECORD ALL OF THAT?! BECAUSE LAWSUITS AND INSURANCE EXIST WHICH A PLACE LIKE CORRUSCANT WOULD HAVE.
8:09 “The Mandalorians are getting pinned down by gun fire, and for some reason they decide to take cover. Even though they are wearing indestructible armour.” Uh… you saw the cannon they were using right? Beskar is very blaster resistant, but not blaster proof, shots can still kill Mandalorians if it hits them in the right place or are large enough. Remember that line from Moff Gideon where he said that fields of Mandalorians were cut down by E-Web blasters? And they most definitely had full Beskar as well.
Seems to me that someone in the Disney cabal realized that bringing back skywalker, jedi and the spirit of old does *not* jive with the uniglobalist shit sticks who have been very busy wrecking western culture for the last few years, and Mando season 3 is to destroy any evidence of hero archetypes. The writing isn’t lazy, it’s exactly as planned.
Yeah this season is like if Nyquil was a show, except some slept, the rest would have more fun looking around a room of an insane asylum Oh, slap in headache too
