I been playing yugioh ever since It came out and I even had the jp cards before they hit America I’m 33 now and I still play lol but yes the one thing about priority is that the player has to call it. So if they summoned emperor but don’t call priority the bottomless trap hole will go through. It’s kinda like how people call what phase they are on example standby phase main phase etc
I did same too I originally played with Japanese cards. I still do for economic reasons, and because the art is not censored. Still waiting for the lost art destiny board set finally drop
Old school here Your priority explanation was basically correct, but there was a couple funny interactions using that priority mechanic, really miss it tbh, it was pretty funny when you flipped a jar, drew the emporer, and got the W since that was basically a instant win
I think you got priority right, and I thought that particular ruling was particularly stupid, and while that wouldn't have solved Chaos Emperor Dragon, it would have given more solutions. The mistake you did make however was that there was another card that could negate special summons in addition to Solemn Judgment, Horn of Heaven, which required you to tribute a monster and was thus somewhat unreliable and usually too costly, but Chaos Emperor may have made it worth it. I remember when he came out and 2 of my friends got him and I did not. So in order to find a way to deal with him, I had to create a deck that could tank him... which was no easy feat. Especially because I played a slow stall deck where I would grind away my opponents resources with repeatable effects and/or gain advantage until I could come up with a game winning combo, so Chaos Emperor Dragon could seriously mess me up if he came out of nowhere. But I learned some tricks to surviving him... when Andrew didn't Sangan/Witch into his Yata.
Im an oldschool yugioh players i played since Day 1 and got a Yugioh Starter Deck, it was amazing. And Yes, "Priority" allowed SPEED 1 monsters to become SPEED 2 for a brief moment during summon, making monsters like Chaos Emperor Dragon Speed 1 Effect to become QUICK EFFECT inmediatly during summon. And i loved that mechaninc because many useless monsters became viable. a Lumina Lighstworn could Special summon 1 other lightsworn as a Priority and ur opponent could chain Traphole, Lumina WILL DIE but at least u can special summon thanks to "priority".
you got it right.....and priority sucked for other reasons. Mostly due to playing honorbly. I'll give you an example. Example: Me: "I summon Chaos Emperor dragon." Them: You call priority? Me: No. Them: okay, I play bottomless...now you can't activate. Me: Actually yes, I activate. Them: You can't now. I might want to attack first, but then they do the head game crap asking me to call priority, I don't attack, now they are like, ok, I activate yada yada yada. It was an annoying thing to deal with , and I think this is the reason that rule was removed.
Thanks for putting some respect on Judgment Dragon, just because nowadays you have these boss monsters that take no effort to pump out, doesn't mean JD wasn't format defining and game winning, and he was balanced by the fact that you had to draw him, have graveyard set up and not deck yourself out. Just good design for what boss monsters should be, not just oh another Omni negate
Konami even gave him respect by giving him a retrain along with Dark Armed Dragon, Red eyes darkness metal dragon, and Trishula, along with Chaos emperor dragon
7:04 fun fact there was a neo daedalus version that didnt had the cannot be normal summoned/set clause so they could acctualy use its effect which was nuke the field and hand but it was not intended to be used that way so it got an errata like a week later
@@RazielTheUnborn i wouldn't allow that excuse, it was printed like that until it was reprinted and i'd take take advantage of that situation to the best of my abilties nothings going to stop me having fun
@@theentity5201 I mean, yeah, take advantage people did, but you'd be an idiot to not realize something was up when Neo Dadelus non upgraded form has a weaker stat line and effect, was HARDER to summon than the upgrade. People knew almost immediately something was wrong with the card.
Didn't play during the Chaos Emperor days, but I did play the GameBoy/DS games and I used Chaos Emperor if it was allowed, and yeah, he's busted, many games just ended if I summoned him
Actually, there was a card that was made before chaos Emperor Dragon that was able to completely remove all cards from a players hand that card was morphing jar.
old priority made yugioh different, honestly it was broken. you could summon your monsters in a specific way to bait backrow and then use an extender to push further
Man I was so bummed out when I was a kid. I had a chaos emperor dragon at one time and the local card collector at the time knew I had one because a bunch of us kids would always play together. At the time I didn't know tins was a thing so I very STUPIDLY traded my dragon away for a raviel lord of phantasms from a stupid lousy tin. And got absolutely swindled. I didn't know you can tell that by looking at digits and such on card. To any younger viewers if your here. Be very mindful of the kids you own. Do your research before you trade them. Some adults would not ever think twice about ripping off a young naive kid if they know they can make a profit off it.
Old Priority Ruling was much better. I mean its my turn so I have the right to do something before my opponent do. And there where some other good stuff with this ruling: for example, back in the days i played dark nephtys which can SS himslef and destroy a backrow. Many people just forget priority and instantly flipped BTH/TT or something similar. this way, if there a a second backrow card i can get rid of another card because of that information i got from my opponent. and there many other cases why i say old priority is better.
As a tag force player priority could be used in every moment of the turn not just during the summon also i kinda miss it it was cool but is too broken to be legal again i think is better to dont put it in the game anymore
0:48 Ironically I opened up a IOC "NON FIRST EDITION" that's important trust me. pack and pulled him kinda funny. it was from one of those s--- grab bag boxes unfortunately nobody wants it but hey still just need to have it.
Honestly I miss the days of crazy old powerful cards like Chaos Emperor Dragon nowadays it just feels like cards do to little for to much of a coast sometimes.
So I was looking through the different errata on this guy, and I’m not sure there’s really much difference other than the most recent being unable to activate any other cards afterwards. Can someone tell me if I’m missing something or is there really not much of a change?
"Opponent's Graveyard" means you can't burn your opponent like it used to be. For example, pre-errata if you have 7 cards that is 2,100 and your opponent has 1,500 overall the damage is 3,600 which is huge but now only your "Opponent's GY" so the damage is only 1,500.
I dont think if this is true but ever since i was a kid I've always think seto`s Chaos emperor dragon is the rival of Yugi's Gandorah dragon of destruction
Ibhate erratas, even this, I think the correct errata shouldn't affect inbdeep the function of a card, this card effect that send, maybe wasn't the intention, but in those times, it was not different from destroñoy, so, the correct effect should be destroy, but anyway, the card is ruines
