Going to Israel Nov 2023. Just received this Bible. I just love the vintage look to this Bible. Font is big enough for my 56 year old eyes. Very readable. Great “transition” notes and illustrations throughout. Thanks for showing the dates in the Cambridge. I have that as well, so I’ll check that out for comparison. Thanks again Grant. 👍🙏🏻

This is an interesting idea, but I think it is really held back by the lack of deuterocannonical books. I mean, if they're going to have a whole section on the period between the testaments, why not include at least 1 Maccabees? Even if they don't believe it to be scripture, it's an important historical document that helps explain a lot of the changes in the period between Malachi and Matthew. On a similar note, it's a shame the NKJV doesn't have an option with the apocryphal like the old King James did. Anyway, thanks for the great video, and a late Merry Christmas.

That's one I would consider getting. I wish someone would make a KJV with capitalize deity. Jesus's word in bold black w/red quotation marks. A separate book study notes w/blanks for personal notes.

I'm torn on whether to get this because it has Old Earth writers behind it, but it does look good. I'm working on trying to rearrange my Word version of the KJV to be more chronological in terms of book order and this might help.

I find the idea of a chronological Bible interesting, but I find myself distrusting the accuracy of the results. I appreciate that the introduction to this study Bible acknowledges that the editors arranged the texts according to when they are ostensibly set without regard to when they were actually written, but the obvious downside to that approach is that it doesn't necessarily depict the Israelite faith as it actually developed. If the superscriptions in the Psalms are unreliable, for instance, then the placement of certain Psalms in the text of 2 Samuel is potentially intrusive and misleading. (Then again, could you imagine a Mainline Protestant chronological Bible that separates the purported JE source in Genesis from the later P source?)

The Bible is very interesting. I would like to know your opinion of the arrangement and the overall experience, after you have read it through. I do have a couple related questions: How have the editors handled repeated material/perspectives? Do they include it all, or do they make a choice and include one version? Thank you for the review!

Does this study bible not have verse-by-verse exegesis as you'd see in more standard study bibles?

This is well put together. This is a specialty Bible and probably won't be for everyone. Nevertheless, it's a good Bible to have as well as an Archaeology Study Bible. It might be a little difficult to navigate, but seeing it's a specialty Bible that is okay as it's unlikely to be someone's everyday Bible. Very interesting Bible though. For a 36 to 40 GSM paper Bible probably, there seems to be some ghosting. From watching the video, had you not said the chapter numbers were red, I would not have know. It seemed all black to me. Maybe it's because I have some difficulty with red letters. This is nonetheless a very good Bible to have in one's library. I'm appreciating single column Bibles more each day. I've long ditched verse-by-verse for paragraph settings as context is always king and somehow paragraphs helps a lot better with reading in context than in isolation which has caused many erroneous doctrines to be birthed. Since the NKJV is normally paragraph setting and I've been using it most of my life up to this year when I transitioned to the ESV, which also is a paragraph setting, I appreciate this layout much more. Now the single column is growing on me to the point that I only read from it nowadays. It makes longer periods of reading easier and I can set my own pace as I read along. Navigation isn't a problem for me especially if you have larger and embolden verse numbers (I'm hoping to get my hands on the ESV Preaching Bible paragraph version). Great review of what looks a beautiful Bible and one that should be added to one's library. By the way, what make and model pencil is that you use in the video? I'm looking for a good mechanical pencil to do my writings in my Bible as for me it's not permanent but can be erased if mistakes are made or if one comes into greater understanding of the particular passage. Plus since the graphite lead won't fade either, it will outlast me even if I live out the normal time that the Bible give which is over 30 years from now.

Do you have a favorite translation?

There are a number of things I like about this bible, mostly regarding it's print. I would find the historical information interesting. What I wouldn't want is to be reading a certain book or account and then suddenly to find myself in a different part of the bible. I would rather they had a center column with cross-references. Additionally, they do not include the books which are included in the Septuagint and are recognized by both the Latin and Eastern Church as canonical. So, this bible is incomplete from that standpoint. This is one of those contradictions I see from those who hold the 'King James only' view. They may say that even the KJV is slowly being corrupted and you need to have a Pure Cambridge Edition. I have the electronic version of this and it doesn't contain the additional bible books of the Septuagint which were also part of the original KJV. So the Pure Cambridge Edition doesn't produce what the translators originally included either.

Hello Grant! How are you? Is it snowing in your place now? By the way, could you review "The October Testament" (it's better to exam a paperback). It's Tyndale's New Testament in modern English from Baruch Publishing House. It's interesting, what is your opinion about quality of this edition's modern English language /I'm not native Eng.speaker/ and covering of the paperback (the hardback is very good there). Imazing, Tyndale's NT (and his OT) is much better, stronger, much more clear and accurate than KJV is (nothing telling about NIV and it's "friends"). KJV and other ENGLISH versions rearrange☝️ passages inside the Scriptures! Tyndale does not... Only one very small example: Romans 1:3,4. Check it in Interlinear, please.
