The ending bit is absolutely MENTAL! When they change the key the first time (at the first “Sing!”) Geoff goes DOWN an octave instead of just going up. And then of course Rachel with her amazing high notes! AND LAYNE WITH HIS SICK BEATBOXING!! The end doesn’t get any better.

Again, I suggest you watch the Phantom of the Opera. It is an amazing experience. When I was 16 I went to Europe to see my sister. I went with a friend of hers to a 10 day tour of Italy. In Rome, I saw my first opera, Aida, in the Roman Bath ruins. The stage was large enough to have 2 chariots with 4 horses each in combat with each other. It changed my world. Phantom is an exquisite look into the hearts of people and well worth the time. It is unforgettable.

The love of Phantom and voiceplay. Put them together and it is magic. I can definitely tell he loves this version. Who can blame him? I certainly not. Rachel hitting those operatic notes. That final high E that she has to hit just great. Again, Geoff hitting it out of the park with that haunting Bass offset with Rachel. Chills. Not to mention the way that all of them look at her in the video, a little devouring, but in a lovely musical way. oooh. Again Chills. Loves this one too; have to love Voiceplay after hearing this.

I always enjoy your reactions so much & you always point out something I've managed to miss even though I've watched the video numerous times. I'd also recommend Kiss & Something Just Like This. Also, they've released You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch on Patreon which features 16 yr old Adriana Arellano (from their Frozen 2 medley) and you're going to love it! It'll probably go to public release within the next week I'd think.

It’s always so lovely when the group stays good friends after one of them leaves, like Avi is still really close to the rest of PTX, and Tony is still really close with the rest of VoicePlay. Do you remember when you reacted to Just Sing? Tony (among plenty of other people, including Rachel) appeared in that. And when you look at the credits in the description box for their cover of Kidnap Mr Sandy Claws, it says that Oogie Boogie was Tony! How cool is that?

Also, another PTX song drops tomorrow. It’s an original song called Thank You, written by Scott and his boyfriend Mark Manio. The video has cameos from Scott and Mark’s dog Bubba the mini golden doodle, and Kirstin’s three dogs, Floof the Pomsky, Olaf and Pascal the huskies. Is such a beautiful song 🥰🥰

I love how at the end, when Rachel goes up, Geoff’s bass line goes down. That’s a typical thing arrangers do, probably because it balances stuff. But I honestly love it.

Hey QoFy 👋! Love this, this is why I love Rachel so much, that range! Jealous jealous 😂 and she seems so lovely and down to earth it’s impossible to be jealous of her. For another amazing version of Phantom of the Opera, have a look at Floor Jansen and Hank Poort. Floor Jansen (say YAN-son) is a Dutch singer and the lead singer for the metal band Nightwish (who are amazing). Henk Poort (basically just say port) is a Dutch operatic baritone. They appeared on a very popular Dutch reality singing show called Beste Zangers (Dutch for “Best Singers”) and did a duet of Phantom of the Opera together. WOW 🤩

You really should check out Jonathan Young's cover of this. It has the Google Translate Fails lady (cannot remember her name for the life of me) playing Christine, the part Miss Potter plays here. And my gods, the pipes on the GTF woman. She has power that her comedic skills don't quite reveal.

SO good. I came late to the Voiceplay party but my respect for them just increases with everything I hear from them. Awesome arrangement. And there's nothing like a bit of well-placed dissonance to make the mood. Once again I'm convinced that a female presence in the mix never fails to elevate any of these a capella groups when it occurs. And now you've said it I need to hear that duet with Rachel and Kirstin. I think it's time I dove into them the way I did with Pentatonix. They do what PTX does for me which is to make me enjoy even a type of music that I wouldn't otherwise listen to. But only when they do it. Who needs to come up for air? I'll take my snorkel.
