Symptoms
In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.
Male-pattern baldness
Women tend to lose hair along the part.
Female-pattern baldness
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
Traction alopecia
t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

I'm totally with you. I am very active and the once per month thing is hilarious. I reinstall mine about once per week. If not the glue breaks down and gets all over an can be extra itchy.

Try tape. tape doesn't leak down. and can last 4 weeks

@@dvndroneography I guess it that didn't work for some people then the clubs wouldn't be recommending you keep it on that long in the first place. That's pretty awesome that you can do that. Cleaning and reinstalling every week or so can be a pain.

@@JB-yh8so You should try buying an ice pack from Amazon to fit under your hat when you work out too btw. I only wear them when I go running because that’s the only time i sweat.

I go to a stylist. The pro is that i don’t even think about how it looks because it always looks good, but it’s expensive. I don’t think any of your systems looked bad but I have found out that anything longer than 3” doesn’t look believable imo.

Nice to see your evolution on DYI... One comment ...... A natural head of hair has variation in color and density depending on the area of the scalp. The only way to achieve this degree of realism is to have a Custom unit Vented by a true artist.... HairClub is not the answer
@rhnmodi

How long would you say a unit lasts for you with the care and efforts you take. Seems like you've burnt through a lot of systems.

My lace systems last about 3-4 months. The systems cost $300-400 depending on what options you select. Custom or stock etc.

Thinning shears for immediate results better to get too thick of a piece and make it thinner with thinning shears. I find a lack of good nonsurgical hair stylists in my area so doing it myself using youtube vids as a guide helps. When you look back on photos/videos you will always say to yourself "if I had worn it this way or placed the hairline differently, it wouldve looked better.. thats the nature of hair systems..thats why you should use your cell phone cam to see how you really look since the cell cam brings out the worst features...its all about the maintenance the harsher the maintenance the more damage to the piece..sometimes a piece looks better after 6 months because its not so perfect so thick etc...wearibg systems has forced me to go outside my comfort zone..now that my piece has lightened i spray temporary red lights on the hair and it just looks like i have a wacky style..also style it wet helps make it look thinner often stylists dont want to thin your piece out because they know its going to lose hair ..a messy not so perfect look is the best. Sometimes less is more ..my piece has lost alot of hair so im thinking about dying it and adding toppik before addibg redlights/pinklights you can also get a hair add(i was thinking about gettibg blond added and then dying it all dark brown so you dont see the knots..you can customize your stock units..no piece is 100% perfect part of the styling process is dealing with these inherent imperfections..you can this type of oil that type of oil etc to the hair but its not organic so it doesnt really matter..eventually its goibg to be brittle no matter what and sometimes a minor hair add can make all the difference before you go and buy a new piece and the whole trial and error process begins again..i do my maintenance one to 2 times a month..in the summer if you do it once a month its super harsh on the system with tape melting into the base etc..in winter when its dryer a month may not make maintenance so damaging..gotta find a balance between too much and not enough maintenance and we all have to accept that not every hair style we may want will look good or be possible on us..

This video has finally convinced me that this is not for me. Unless you have $10,000 to get a custom hairpiece and to hire a professional to maintain it, it seems impossible to figure all of this out on my own.
