1. I can smell those lilacs! 2. Your husband could make some extra cash on ETSY making those leather covers for combs... just sayin'.... 3. Dont ever apologize for clutter.. we all have it 4. I have a rigid heddle loom, maybe around 28 in.... i have used it for neck scarves... using up stash of hand-dyed sock yarn, same for both warp and weft, really nice plaid! 5. If Kate makes a cake on her channel, good chance it is by Mary Berry... she mentions her often! Great episode!

The biggest smile came to my face, when you showed us your ridged heddle loom! I have a 16” Samplelt loom which has yet to see its first warp. I’m also in the process of renovating my upstairs to make a really cozy “one project at a time” area and I have moved all my tools and stash to the basement. I am really interested to see how you design your basement. I like how Sara Howard and the lady from Maine organized their areas. Your sponge cake looked yummy! Have a super week!

What gorgeous corriedale woollen spun wool! I really appreciated the tour of your laundry / stash room. I can see one counter top in our laundry room will make a great space for storing stash and spinning tools. My hubby never uses the tools he has stashed on the counter, so I think it’s time to send it to his main tool storage / work bench in the furnace room :-)). Yours in Gratitude

Best baking show ever! I will say I find most written recipes for baked goods to be too low in salt for my taste, so I'm very bold about adding some, and I also taste my batter before baking to make sure everything seems right. Missed the weekly sighting of Peaches.

I was told to save my egg shells them up and add them in my flower 🌼 beds to keep the slugs away. So, your card samples look great 👍 and now put them in a little zip-up jewelry bag for your scapebook. Walmart has these bookcases that are cubs and they hold totes nicely for organic things. Just check them out sometime while shopping 🛍 😊. I got a 9 cub one to hold carders and many of my spinning tools on top and my home spin skins of yarn. On the bottom, my totes of fibers.

I can't wait to see your lime green mittens. Love the colors in your shawl! Sometimes I put things on the loom and weave until I run out of warp and then decide what it will be. I wove what I thought were going to be placemats once and even did hemstitching between the mats but somehow miscalculated and I finally decided to turn it into a shawl. I get lots of compliments on it and try not to tell people I'm wearing placemats, lol. I think I need to go bake something now. Thanks for a fun episode!

I have the same Ashford e-spinner as you and a Lendrum DT treadle wheel, I like the Ashford for plying, or spinning thicker yarns and I prefer the Lendrum for spinning finer yarns, e-specially long draw and spinning from the fold. Caster sugar is a very finely ground white sugar, but I like baking with the golden granulated sugar for lots of things too - it makes lovely shortbread!

Lisa, lovely video again. My fleece processing became better even though my fleeces are not as clean as yours when you get them. As for sugar. It is a difference; in Europe sugar is made from sugar beets in the States it’s made from sugar cane. When I started baking here people “complained” that my baked goods are not sweet enough.
@sondragingery5949
@sondragingery5949 Год назад
Depends on where you are in the US - Much of the sugar here is also from sugar beets. I used to live near a sugar processing plant in Michigan. You could tell when they were cooking the sugar down, the smell was distinctive.

If I’m using chemical dyes, I dye using dirty fleece that has been soaked overnight in cold water. I add vinegar to the dye bath which helps the fleece absorb the dye and cleans at the same time. Saves water and another process. Try using grey or fawn fleece, this will give you a lovely saddened colour. My preferred method is an old slow cooker, about 200 grams of fleece and bring up to simmer and leave on low setting for a few hours. Sometimes I really cram a lot of fleece into the slow cooker, so it has a few patches, which when carded, takes on a tweedy look. I hope that helps and happy dyeing.
@SoulfulSpinning
@SoulfulSpinning Год назад
This helps a lot! Sounds easy to do and I have lots of fawn and great fleeces to play with. The cold soak is something I do anyway as it gets most of the dirt out. Thank you. 🥰

Hello Louise! I pretty new to weaving but I’ve read and seen many videos using a 32 in ashford for shawls, though I have the 25 in Schacht Flip which I love. It made a generous width. You might want to check out a channel I found recently. Her name is Curly-n-Yarny. I just watched her weave a baby’s blanket on her 32 in. There are many more great RU-vidrs who weave. I am not necessarily the best person to ask. Do your research and you’ll find the perfect loom for you. Take care and thanks for watching. 💕
