Great video! Sorry The Stand did not entirely work out for you. I loved your insightful commentary on the novel, particularly the second part. I agree with your assessment that the book slows down, but I still felt tension, particularly with traitorous characters such as Harold and Nadine. I enjoyed the ending but sometimes wonder if it would hold up on a re-read. The 53 year old me might be more inclined to agree with you then the 19 year old me.

Nice commentary. Glad you liked it for the most part. I enjoyed it back in high school, but I've since read the apocalypse done better and with less bloat. I was fine with the Free Zone stuff as well. My favorite bits were probably when King would temporarily abandon the characters to spin those "War of the Worlds" style vignettes of wider events during and following the plague. From a deeply ingrained, guilt drenched, and blood spattered Catholicism sort of view 🤪, I suppose one could argue that a certain set of Vegas bound characters were "active" elements in that their willing sacrifice was the price God demanded for His intervention, but I still don't care for it as a story resolution, particularly after such a huge time investment. Enjoyed your video and comments 👍👍👍 I used to read a lot of King, just getting back to reading him again. Dead zone was another of his works I enjoyed reading, has been a few decades, so I may read again.

So glad you read it and mostly enjoyed it. It’s my favorite, but I don’t get my feelings hurt when others have differing opinions. 😜 Like another commenter already said, I took the ending as only being possible because certain characters chose of their own free will to make decisions that put them there in Vegas. The “God” in this story seemed to almost have vampire rules where it couldn’t go somewhere unless it was “invited in”. Your video made me want to give it a reread. I miss those characters so, so much. 😅

Currently reading the Count of Monte Cristo. It is excellent. I might be some time!

It sounds typical Stephen King, overly long, meandering, and bad ending. The political aspect sounds interesting though, I follow American politics a lot. I've not read it and won't, King gives me narcolepsy.....................oh, did I watch this? 😉
